About
It’s somewhat unusual to see a butterfly on floor, though it is favored by a couple gymnasts in every generation. At just a B (0.2), the butterfly is not selected by gymnasts because of its usable value in routine composition but because it’s a slightly different-looking skill—not your run-of-the-mill leap or turn—that adds a memorable and noteworthy artistic flair. For that it is appreciated.
Also you look nothing like a butterfly. I don’t see a chrysalis ANYWHERE.
At the 2024 world cup in Baku, Reese Esponda successfully submitted the butterfly to land in front support for addition into the code, but since elements must be at least C to receive name recognition, it is not identified as the Esponda Butterfly.
Back in the 1992 quad, you had to do two butterflies in succession to get credit for a C. And walk uphill both ways in the snow.
