About
Let’s talk naming. The double Arabian had appeared in the code of points as early as the 70s but did not have a name until the version with an additional half twist out was added to the 1997 code update. The skill was given to Denmark’s Charlotte Andreasen (or, as the code called her, “Andreasen Name TBC SWE”), apparently for performing it in qualification at the 1995 World Championship in Sabae, though video evidence is not extant.

The skill existed this way until 2022, when archaeologists discovered that East Germany’s Martina Jentsch had performed a double Arabian tucked at the 1987 World Championship in Rotterdam. Jentsch’s name was restored to the double Arabian, and it became the Andreasen/Jentsch.

The double Arabian was also split from the double Arabian 1/2 at this point, with the double Arabian becoming the Andreasen/Jentsch and the double Arabian 1/2 becoming nameless.

So, either Jentsch is the more accurate eponym because they both did the double Arabian but Jentsch did it first (1987 vs 1995), or Andreasen actually did the double Arabian 1/2 in 1995, her name should be paired with that version, and she has now been denied naming credit for that skill unfairly.

Speaking of the double Arabian 1/2 out and unfairness, the 2025 code update removed the double Arabian 1/2 out entirely as an independent skill and lumped it in with all the double saltos that start backward and contain a full twist at some point, which is a travesty of justice. Because now why would you ever do it? It’s so much harder.
