About
At E (0.5), the front pike mount is worth some serious tenths. Most people aren’t swimming in E elements on beam, so this can be a game changer in terms of developing a competitive difficulty score. It remains the domain of a select few, however, because of RISKY MOUNT. Risky mounts make you fall in the 2008 Olympic team final. Fact.

Most gymnasts attempting an E (0.5) mount are instead opting for the round-off layout stepout, the same difficulty rating but with the added luxury of being able to see the beam while in the air. Also the added luxury of not getting downgraded by a tenth for getting scared and tucking your piked position.
