The 2017 upgrade of this element from C (0.3) to D (0.4) did not exactly usher in the age of the wolf jump full. As with most jumps on beam, the idea of doing a full turn has been too much of a deterrent, but there are some who go for it. With a tuck or straight jump, you have to do 1.5 turns to get up D value, but with the wolf position, only a full turn is required for D, which will always lure a few gymnasts to try it.
And then they’ll kind of under-rotate it and wobble on it and then remove it from their routine for worlds, and then we understand why most gymnasts still don’t do it.
