It’s here sort of but not entirely! Ah, the NCAA special! Hurrah and hurrah!
Now that a whopping 65% of next season’s NCAA schedules have been released, we have at least some semblance of an idea of how our 2017 lives will look. Enough to put together a composite schedule that isn’t just a wasteland made of tumbleweeds.
As always, the winner of Being Good at Schedules is the University of Wisconsin system, while the loser remains the Ivy League (brought to you by A Random Times New Roman Page of Fictional Maybe-Meets).
The new fun trend, and by fun I mean terrible, is for teams to put up a schedule that includes only home meets. Oh, thank you so much for this helpful and complete information…
As with last season, the full schedule with all 82 teams will sit in the bar at the top throughout the season and will be updated as the remaining schools get their lives together. And also it’s right here.
But because that thing is a behemoth, here is a summary schedule featuring only the meets I think might be mildly interesting and whatnot. Meets between two (or more) of last year’s Super Six teams are in bold.

- Oh no! Did I spoil Oklahoma’s one-per-day Twitter reveal of it’s home meets? (BECAUSE I WONDER WHAT’S COMING NEXT??)
- Thankfully, we’re not starting with a dud this year. The opening day of the season features Georgia heading to LSU along with Alabama heading to Oklahoma. Get mildly enlivened about it. Alright, that’s enough.
- The Pac-12 Network has decided to play this game where all the early-season conference meets, including most UCLA and Utah meets, are at the same time as each other. I guess they’ve been really impressed with my multitasking skills and definitely focused attention span…
- March 3rd stands out as the marquee day of the season, featuring Alabama @ Georgia, Florida @ LSU, and Stanford @ Utah. February 11th is also a big day for simultaneous and relatively competitive Pac-12 and Big Ten action.
- The GymQuarters Invitational in Missouri on February 17th is totally trying to be the new Metroplex. It got the big-draw teams this year. Oklahoma is still going to Metroplex (because ALL THE NEUTRAL PODIUM MEETS), but the Sooners are the only big-name team attending this year. That’s rather unusual because TEXAS.
- The top SEC teams always have difficult built-in conference schedules, but Oklahoma is really not skimping on the difficult out-of-conference opponents this season, setting up against Alabama, LSU, UCLA, Georgia (twice), Nebraska, and Auburn this year.
