I’m back! I go away for one second and all the judges are like, “10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10s FOR EVERYONE.” When the cat’s away. I promise never to leave you again. Two 10.000s were awarded this weekend, along with five 9.975s.

Oklahoma solidified its place at the top of the rankings with a hundred billion 9.9s and a juicy away score. The Sooners are starting to create a margin that will be tough to make up as long as we’re still basing the rankings on average. Even #2 LSU would have to beat Oklahoma by well over a point this coming weekend to make up that margin, which seems highly unlikely.

Utah decided to remind everyone that they, like, invented SEC scoring and moved up to 4th with a 197.625. Judges giving 10s for non-stuck DTYs are the new bomber jacket. The team did very well to full out lineups without Schwab, dropping some potential scoring on VT, UB, BB, but not to a level that showed up dramatically in the final total.

Kentucky is becoming the major story of January, moving up to #6 and using the AA power of Korth, Dukes, Stuart, and Hyland to put up competitive lineups even without the presumed important contributions from Waltz and Kwan. Next weekend’s two meets will be a strategic test for a team reliant on a few key AAers. Do you rest people?

We saw a number of teams hit season highs and yet fall in the rankings because the the 196.9s are beginning to flow. Lower 196s aren’t going to get teams very far right now if they’re hoping for a spot in the top 20.
