It’s all happening today. Five of the top six teams are in action this evening, along with Florida, unranked from having not competed during the first week of competition.

We’ll start in Florida with the Trinity Thomas debut, though we will see some lineup scrambling for the Gators following the injury to Alyssa Baumann that will keep her out of the meet. In the second batch of meets, major focus will be on Georgia/Oklahoma and the Alabama quad meet, both of which should be delicious prospects. In terms of going routine-by-routine, I’ll focus more on OU’s meet because I know fewer people have access to that one.

Plus, we’ll have Utah and Stanford both going in later action. So it’s a big day.

Oh yeah, I didn’t miss having to watch the last five minutes of the Rooster Cornfeathers Show while waiting for the SEC meets to start.

Rotation 1

Gowey – VT – full – solid landing, small hop but a fairly obvious pike in the air this time, which will get deducted. 9.725.

Tucker – UB – hit piked jaeger, a little feet – small leg break in bail – short final hs but good position on full turn, into a stuck double tuck. Good second 1/2 of that one.

“These should make your heart gasp.” – Kathy

Alexander – VT – full – nearlllly sticks it, held it for a while but just kind of leans and hops in salute. Not her biggest vault but she usually struggles to control the landing, which she did this time – some legs on block. 9.775.

Kelly – UB – short first hs – solid piked jaeger as well – bail has a clear hip angle there – a couple short casts – DLO, small hop. Not quite as clean as Tucker but fine.

Thomas – VT – huge 1.5 but quite a large lung eforward out of it, a big lunge and then another step or two – great form in the air, will be fine. 9.775. Judges love Trinity as much as us. I had at least three tenths just in landing control.

Christensen – UB – good vertical on first hs – giant full to hit tktchev – bail with a significant leg separation in catch – they’re all struggling on final casts – giant full to double tuck, another stick.

Boren – VT – good control on landing on that 1.5 but uncharacteristic leg breaks in the air, both on the vault and a little bit in knees in the air. 9.875. Is too high. Judge 2 went 9.950, which is insanely too high. I’m with the 9.800 judge.

Schugel – UB – 1/2 turn to piked jaeger, great height on jaeger  but late on the 1/2 turn into it – connects directly to overshoot – good cast to hs on high – giant full to double tuck, hop back. OK.

Reed – VT – she shows a 1.5 as well – large lunge forward for her too – a little bit of knees in the air – not quite as high as the previous 1.5s, good option though. 9.775.

Porter – UB – hit jaeger – toe on to bail, a little leg break there – iffy hs – double front, stuck – really nice finish.

Schoenherr – VT – 1.5 from her as well, terrible camera angle but it looks like a knee down on her lunge, or close to it – 9.450.

Florida showing options for competitive difficulty but not quite there yet.

Huber – UB – pretty jaeger, connected to overshoot – closer to the vertical on her hs – DLO, a little piking and a hop forward.

AFTER 1: Missouri 49.125, Florida 48.925

Scoring is going high here. Pretend to be really surprised. Florida did not have the landings on those 1.5s aside from Boren. Large lunges on the rest of them. Good potential seeing those 1.5s from the freshmen, but will need some time.

One judge had Florida’s vault at 48.800, the other at 49.050.

Missouri solid on bars, got through with six usable hits, but a lot of feet and missed handstands that would normally keep these scores in the 9.750-9.800 range. Huber’s toes and amplitude a highlight.

Rotation 2

Huber – VT – full – pretty clean in the air – notable bound back though, a little bit of pike in flight but not too bad

Boren – UB – hit tkatchev – good hs – bail, good hs – hitting clean – DLO, a little pike there and a hop back. Solid start. 9.875.

Gottula – VT – full – twisted super late which I thought was going to be a problem but good control, small step – a little pike –

Gowey – UB – Strong Ray – good hs – pak, loses her feet a little there – 1/2 turn on low – step up to high – short final hs – DLO, flings it out and just gets it around, chest well down though.

Porter – VT – full – better amplitude than the first two – good height, small hop – not the most distance

Hundley – UB – Shap to and Pak – toe on – toe shap 1/2, a little legs – perhaps slightly rushed final hs – FTDT, smallest hop. Smallll leg breaks in those transitions, but probably an overall deduction.

Tucker – VT – full – they’re rising in terms of dynamics – small hop – best layout position so far –

Schoenherr – UB – toe 1/2 to high jaeger, clean – toe on to bail, good legs together there – short final hs – giant full to double tuck – giant full a little late and tuck position legs could be tighter together, good stick. 9.875.

Ward – VT – round off 1/2 on, tuck 1/2, held onto the stick somehow. She came in a little short and angled and should have had to step forward but didn’t.

Thomas – UB – Shap to clear hip up to handstand – Pak, pretty, small amount of legs in that and the Shap 1/2 – good difficulty in this one – HUGE DLO and stuck. Lovely routine. 9.950. So that happened.

McCrary – VT – good control on her 1.5 landing, small hop to the side – not as big as the Florida 1.5s but did really well to control it.

Skaggs – UB – good first hs – tkatchev to pak, some crazy feet in that Pak – short hs – DLO, stuck, excellent final routine. They’re planning on this getting some McMurtry scores this year. It’ll work.

After 2: Florida 98.425, Missouri 98.125

Florida much stronger on bars than on vault there. Good hs work for this early in the season throughout the lineup, just bits of legs breaks that were especially apparent because of camera angle. Clean work. And we saw basically all the routines go over 9.850 because they were stronger than Missouri’s routines and the judges already went to 9.850 with those sets.

So, 49.500 for Florida is a little high for that bars rotation, but it was a good one.

Missouri should be fairly happy with those vaults, beating Florida’s vault score. They aren’t big vaults but no one really had trouble, and they have two realistic 10.0s there.

Rotation 3

Skaggs – BB – wolf turn double, pretty comfortable – switch to split jump, good 180 positions – bhs loso, secure – some nice footography there – cat leap to side aerial to full, holds the stick with a lean. Composed first set. 9.875,

Bower – FX – double pike, very comfortable – split leap full to wolf full, solid finishing positions – 1.5 to layout, a little low in the layout, a little whipped over – double tuck, solid controlled step. Similar to Missouri’s vaulting. Not the biggest but there with the landings. 9.850.

Hundley – BB – aerial to sissone – she has a great ability to land short and not show it, work smoothly into next skill – loso series, secure – switch to switch side, nice horizontal position on switch side this year – 1.5 with a little step/lean/reach for the stars to try to save it. 9.850.

Nicholson – FX – front 2/1, pretty twisting especially in the first twist, lost a little legs at the very end – 1.5 to front layout, also a little whipped over in that layout – switch side to popa – rudi, good layout position there. 9.825.

Boren – BB – gainer kickover, secure – bhs loso series, also well hit – switch to straddle jump – cat leap to gainer loso, hit – high gainer full, hop. 9.900

They’re not wobbling on these routines.

Huber – FX – front lay to front 1/1, came in a little short on that full – split leap full to wolf full, not quite up to 180s – 2.5 with a little slide – double pike, controlled step, chest down. 9.750

Gowey – BB – switch to split, comfortable for her because Gowey – bhs loso loso, no trouble – aerial to sissone, super clean aerial – punch front, nailed, girl look at you with a punch front – gainer full, smmalll step. 9.900

These gainer full landings are the only thing hurting them.

Porter – FX – double pike, travels back a little, sliding back – 1.5 to front lay, good shape, also a little lunge forward – hit leap combo – double tuck, better control, good. 9.800.

Thomas – BB – switch 1/2, perfect, into beat jump – one arm bhs to loso, great extension – aerial with an arm swing into wolf jump, I think that may be the first thing resembling a balance check in this rotation – 2/1 dismount, hop back. She’ll get some 10s, and pretty soon.

9.850.

McCrary – FX – front lay to front rudi, some legs, slide back – double pike, comfortable, also a little slide – L hop 1/2 is a little short of a full turn – 2.5 good legs through that with a dance out

Clapper – BB – bhs loso loso, smallest correction, she’s worked on those feet – switch to split, hit – side aerial to full with a lean – very reasonable option despite just being here filling in for Baumann

Tucker – FX – huge FTDT,, comes up just a tad short with a correction – 2/1 to pretty loso, very nice – super secure double pike, a little feet. Lol at “wolfunova”

After 3: Florida 147.825, Missouri 147.325

REALLY secure beam rotation for Florida. 49.400 and fairly realistic overall. Although if you’re giving Trinity Thomas the lowest score in that rotation, you’re doing it wrong.

Almost time for Georgia/Oklahoma now!

“She’s the star of the country” – Kelly on Maggie. I mean, true.

Don’t cut away from Maggie when she’s vaulting. I know it was a warmup. It doesn’t matter. That is the show.

Rotation 4 – Missouri/Florida

Bower – BB – bhs loso, super tentative but pulls it out, probably a shape deduction though – cat leap to kickover front, pause into beat jump, borderline combination but no checks – switch to straddle, tight straddle – gainer full

Trautman – VT – OU – 1.5 – big amplitude – just a little bit of knees in the air once again this time and a hop forward. Solid. 9.875.

Snead – UB – UGA – tkatchev, hit – lvoely bail, perfect legs – DLO, NOOOOOOO, flings it out, comes in way short and hands down. Wow.

Hundley – FX – UF – whip double tuck, control – double pike, same control, not a lot of height but pulled right down into that floor with no stepping problem –

Degouveia – VT – OU – “She demands what she wants out of her body” – OK? – 1.5, also quite quite good, small hop there, cleaner legs than Trautman. 9.950. I would have been 9.900

Lukacs – UB – UGA – tkatchev, hit – clear hip – nice height on her pak but then peels off. Georgia counting a fall now. Lukacs finishes DLO, some piking, hop back.

Lehrmann – VT – 1.5 – small hop back, came in a little short this time, did well to avoid any kind of real landing error, just the small hop

SJS – FX – UF – double pike, bounce back – I’m on mute here because the sound is on for OU, so tell me what you think of the choreo – I like the investment at least – front full in her second pass is low with a lunge forward – double back, a little short, but a hit

Al Hammed – UB – giant full to her big tkatchev, hit – bail, clean legs, good vertical position – nice cast hs here – also kind of flings out her FTDT and did really well to land it with just a step. 9.750

Stern – VT – 1.5, she’s in the linuep today – hits it, some more knees than a few of the others, and a step.

Schild – UB – UGA – Ray, good – Pak, lovely – arch on low bar in 1/2 turn, pulls it back well, good composure – DLO, comes it a bit short with a step. Not her strongest routine but a necessary hit.

Nichols – VT – OU – steps forward on her 1.5 this time because she was just a tad under, otherwise her normal

Dickson – UB – UGA – nice and high Ray – bail to toe shoot, clean – works so quickly – DLO 1/1, bounce back this time, a little bit of pike –

Dowell – VT – OU – nearly got the stick on that one, came in a touch short and had to step back, couldn’t quite hold it.

Oakley – UB – higging to piked jaeger, gorgeous – pak, hit – 1/2 turn on low – one borderline hs – FTDT with a hop back.

VT exhibition for Schoepfer, hit a full but some knees on the block, gained a better layout position toward the end actually.

Boren – FX – UF – big DLO, small adjustment feet on landing – 1.5 to front layout, good height – a little cover dance out – tight on her split in dance series this time, tighter than usual – Double tuck, high, good control. Hit.

So, Oklahoma goes only 49.500 on VT this week. Basically steps were the only thing. It’s a 48.250 for UGA after the counting fall (and the bits of dismount landings and handstands in the other routines). Highlight was Oakley for that 9.900, even with what should have been a full tenth deduction on landing. So they were willing to go there.

Thomas – FX – UF – she is a treasure – DLO, strong, controlled step back – front lay to front 2/1, comes in a little short with a hop back – switch ring and a split 1.5 that was too easy for her to get around – KATHY MOANED – double pike, big but a giant bounce back –

Ward – BB – Missouri – bhs bhs loso, secure, a little tight but well done – switch to pike jump – hitch kick to side aerial with a check, a little hesitant – 1.5 dismount with a small step.

Magee – VT – UGA – good full, small hop back, a bit of a pike in the air but should be a higher-scoring option than Oakley for right now.

Showers – UB – OU – Shushunova – orphan 1/2 turn like a Russian – bail, hit – a couple borderline vertical positions – FTDT, small slide back –

Gowey a little lungey on her floor landings but hits –

Vega – VT – UGA – secure on the landing there, basically sticks – not quite as good in the legs department this week with some soft knees.

FINAL: Florida 197.300, Missouri 196.450

Both teams will very much take those scores.

Marks – UB – OU _ toe on to toe SHap, just fingertips it – bail, a little short of vertical there – nice final cast hs – FTDT, sticks with a Maggie stagger. Good one. 9.875.

Ward – VT – UGA – Tsuk full with a hop back – fairly similar to last week –

Webb – OU – UB – Pak, nice – Shap 1/2, lovely – also sold on her high bar hs – double front 1/2 dismount, a little short with a hop.

Dickson – VT- UGA – Omelianchik – another big bound forward qthis week but a little more comfortable than last time – the form is good – will get there but not there yet.

Dowell – UB – OU – giant Ray as usual – toe on – bail, clean – hitting hs – DLO, stuck. Kelly gives it FIVE OUT OF FIVE SQUEALS

Lukacs – VT – UGA _ big height on her DTY, a little staggered on landing with a hop but stronger than last week, I think she got a better block

Lehrmann – Ub – OU – 1/2 turn to jaeger, lovely – toe on to bail, legs together throughout – a little short final hs – FTDT, good position, absorbs the landing to avoid a step

Snead – VT – UGA – STICK on the 1.5 – very nice – just some legs in the air, but a great vault.

Nichols – UB – OU – Ray to Pak, perfect – toe on to toe Shap 1/2, strong, legs together, hit hs – DLO, pikes it down just a little to get her stick with a little bit of stagger. That takes away the 10 for me but otherwise it was perfect. Nearly perfect.

49.300 for Georgia on vault after 9.950 for Snead. 49.525 on bars for Oklahoma. after 9.950 for Nichols.

Quad meet starting

Armbrecht – VT -Alabama – clean full, a little hop

I spy with my little eye, Rhonda Faehn on the floor coaching Michigan. So there’s that. Uh, hi, Michigan, want to tell us about that or something –

Hits bars from Karas, following 9.750 for Mariani. Karas goes 9.850.

Mahoney – VT – Alabama – nice stick on her full, really strong vault, legs together. 9.825 is actually like…a normal, discering score. It’s just so jarring to see.

Guerra – VT- Alabama – ro 1/2 on tuck 1/2 – hop, her normal

EXCELLENT vault from Gobourne for Auburn – 1.5 some legs in the air, great held stick.

Olsen – VT – Alabama – STUCK DTY – so that’s a thing. Well now. 9.875.

Sundstrom with a check on her loso series for Denve r- lean to hold landing on gainer pike

Stuck DLO on bars for Edney.

Graber – VT – Alabama – lovely 1.5 and opens out of it – hop forward – great vault

Priessman – UB – LSU – tkatchev to pak, smallest legs but fine – DLO dismount, sticks. Nice.

Trautman – BB – OU – full turn – bhs loso, secure – switch to split leap series – cat leap to kickover front with a check – 1.5, stuck. Nice start to rotation.

Finnegan – UB – lSU _ Ray, gorgeous – bail, a little gfloppy on the legs from this angle – DLO, sticks.

Perez – Lugones – FX – double pike with a step back – switch side and straddle are OK – double tuck is controlled this time.

Vasquez is going on beam for Denver – these LEAPS – a couple little check moments of tentativeness – stuck dismount. It’s going to be a thing.

Lehrmann – BB – OU – bhs loso swingdown, hit – cat leap to switch side, right on – aerial, just a hair tentative – gainer full with a little slide. Normal, good –

Karr – BB – Denver – side aerial to bhs, secure – finishes with a stuck 1.5

Magee – FX – UGA _ pike full in, lands it a little deep and has to hop out of it to the side, but fine – 1.5 to layout to…leap…second pass, doesn’t quite commit to that stag position out of the pass but clean tumbling – double pike, super short with a lunge forward to save it

Woodard – BB – OU – full turn, good – side aerial to bhs, quick and lovely – some knees – kockover front, secure – switch to split, pause in between – split which typically goes down to knee but this time she has to land and then kind of awkwardly goes down to knee – stuck dismount. Great moments, a little hesitant in places.

Snead – FX – UGA – double tuck first pass, small slide – good extension in leap combination – rudi to shushunova, pretty – double pike, well controlled.

Cannamela hop back on her full on vault –

Showers – BB – OU – Back in the lineup today, Dowell is back to alternate – full turn, good – bhs loso, secure – beat jump to split jump 1/1, adds some choreography, then the swindown – no straight jump 1/1 this season? – kickover front to beat jump, just a little deep in kickover – stuck gainer full

Harrold hits 1.5 this week with crossover step

Lukacs – FX – UGA – camera work misses her DLO, but Kelly screamed so there’s that – whip to 1.5 to front layout, comfortable, fairly low to the ground – “suppleness” – switch side, tight position – double pike, controlled well. “Double pike like it’s cake.” I think she missed a dance element series.

Nice height and counter rotation from Gobourne on her tkatchev.

Webb – BB – OU – bhs loso, lovely extension, secure – cat leap to aerial – swtich to split, good 180s, just a bit of feet is all – side aerial to full, brings heels together on landing. Great.

Edwards hits vault for 9.800

Pretty piked jaeger from Cerio as well on bars – Auburn nailing this rotation

Dickson – FX – UGA – comes in a little short on her huge double arabian with a shuffle back, two little steps? Three? – “I love her spunk” – 1.5 to layout, solid, a bit of knees – double pike, bounce. Some landing deductions in that one.

Finnegan had so much momentum on vault she kind of saluted herself out of a stick on that full.

Nichols – BB – OU – aerial to split, strong – bhs loso, no trouble – switch through to split leap – 1.5 dismount, stuck. Maggie.

Edney – VT – LSU – step forward on 1.5, some knees –

Vega – FX – UGA – double pike, secure – not doing the full twist this week – 1.5 to layout to sissone, pretty sissone – split leap 1.5, good extension – double tuck, good control, just a little deep

Red alert: Auburn is beating LSU after 2: 98.625 to 98.500

Dowell in exhibition has to redo her series because of a balance check.

Karas on beam with a check on her loso series but keeps it on – gainer pike, stuck

Ruiz – FX – Denver – 1.5 to layout middle pass, a little bit of knees – double pike, hit with some feet

Guerra – UB – Alabama – tight first hs – jaeger, hit – bail, legs together – just rushing through these hs a little – DLO, hop back

McLean – BB – switch, straddle 1/4, hit – bhs loso, good legs, secure – cat leap to switch side, a bit tight – split jump to loso, hit – 1.5 dismount, holds stick – that’s huge improvement for her on beam

Bounce forward for Mahoney on dismount on bars.

Pretty beat jump straddle from Funk on beam for Michigan – side aerial to a stuck full, legs apart.

Harrold – FX – LSU – front 2/1, a little deep with a crossover step – double pike, hit, slide back – switch ring, switch 1/2 – 1.5 to layout final pass.

Karr – FX – Denver – nice high double pike – 1.5 to front full – good control on those landings

Snead – BB – UGA – bhs loso bhs series, very nice – really short of 180 in a straddle jump, weird for her – punch front, a little deep but hits it – 2/1, holds the stick with a little lean

Farley holds a stick on beam.

Webb – FX – front 2/1, good, dances out – 1.5 to front full, also under control – short in those leap elements – rudi – good hit

Big DLO from Lynzzee Brown –

Dickson – BB – aerial to split, good, pretty – bhs loso series, just a little lean this time – switch to switch combination, tries to save it but can’t – falls – 1.5 dismount.

Degouveia – FX – OU – front 2/1, just does pull that rotation around – finds her camera – front layout to front 1/1, just a little knees – hits her leaps – 1.5 to layout, some feet another solid one.

Magee – BB – UGA – bhs loso series, good, solid, just a little lean as she presents – switch to switch side, some back leg on that switch – side aerial to full, hop, lean to hold it

Dowell – FX – OU – does the Dowell this time, nails it – 1.5 to layout, good height, sitcks it – leaps are pretty good this week, dont’ have a deduction iss ue there – front lay to front full to stag. Brilliant. 9.875.

Baumann – BB – UGA – side aerial to loso, a little bit of legs but super secure – L hop to switch side, hit – 2/1 dismount, small step. Good improvement over last week

LaPinta – FX – OU – surprised/impressed to see her make the lineup – 3/1 opener, a litlte under on rotation but hit – double tuck, right to her face, shame

Ferrer debuting for LSU in that floor lineup – SUPPPPPER deep double arabian but pulled it out somehow, step OOB.

Utah 49.150 on bars, dropping a fall from Tessen.

Oakley – BB – UGA – bhs loso loso, awesome correction to get away with just a check despite being off – ring jump with a check

Klopfer – BB – Alabama – making it into the lineup thsi week – aerial to bhs series, hit – a little short on some of these splits – switch – a little bit of a pause into side aerial to full, a hit

Finnegan’s twisting you guys –

Nichols – FX – OU – double tuck, super easy and secure – front full to front loso – split leap full, great 180 and crisp finishing position – double pike, a little step – more secure than last week. 9.925

WHY IS MAGGIE LIMPING OFF THE FLOOR

Vega – BB – UGA – aerial to split jump – bhs loso series, hit, a little bit of knees – side aerial to full, a little hop. Good. they needed it.

Trautman – FX – OU – DLO, fab, nailed – front layu to front full, good control, just a bit of knees – great amplitude on her leaps – double tuck, ooooh opens out of it, going to be super pretty when she lands perfrectly, just a little short this time with a step

LSU has to count a 9.675 from Edney on floor. LSU and Auburn are tied going to the final event.

FINAL: Oklahoma 197.825, Georgia 195.300

Al-Hameed exhibition on beam. Schoepfer exhibition on floor.

Graber – BB – Alabama – bhs layout to two feet, check to the side, lean at the hips – switch to straddle 3/4, a little tight – kickover front to scale, nice and smooth – stuck gainer full –

Desiderio – BB – LSU – bhs loso – wayyyyy off and falls – switch to switch 1/2, a little tight on that switch 1/2 today – cat leap to stuck gainer full

9.975 for Skinner on vault as Utah goes 49.500

Smith – FX – Auburn – double pike, a little low, step back – 1.5 to layout, problems there, low and a lot of knees – double tuck, small stagger back. 9.725 is a bit high for that.

Shallon is going on beam for Alabama – bhs bhs double pike dismount with a hop. You know casual –

Karas is back in the floor lineup for Michigan – stumble back on her final 2/1, lunge –

Dean – BB – LSU –  hit series – switch to split to split 1/4, broke the initial connection so had to add a third – aerial, good – side aerial to full, small step back. Some tentative moments but a hit. “Put your foot down, girl” – Sac. What a gem. 9.675 is a little har

Sheppard – FX – Auburn – nice to see her back in the lineup after having to stop last week – 3/1, good this week, normal step back – switch side to popa, a little crooked on switch side – 1.5 to layout, short on layout with a shuffle back

Durante – BB – aerial to beat jump – bhs loso with arm wave check, pulls it back well – switch to split 1/4, small hesitation in connection – side aerial to full, holds the stick with a lean. 9.725.

Cerio – FX – Auburn – double pike, huge stumble back and OOB – front full to front lay, a little whipped over – rudi, hit. The first pass is going to mean trouble though. 9.650.

Edney – BB – LSU – aerial to split, good – almost wobbled on choreograpjhy because it’s that kind of day for LSU – loso series, hit – switch leap with a check, has to improvise a dance series, very short on split jump – kickover front was good – 1.5 with a hop forward. That sort of typifies this meet for LSU. 9.700.

Gobourne – FX – Auburn – OPEN double tuck, super well controlled – switch ring to split leap 1/1, a little short – front full to layout, like how she rises into that layout – double pike, nailed. Nice routine. 9.950. Wow.

Funk – VT- Michigan – hop back on full, a little knees, fine –

Mariani follows her, good amplitude on full, some form.

Campbell – BB – LSU – nice loso series – aerial to sissone, small hesitation – switch to switch 1/2, nice split position – 2/1 with a hop back. More like what LSU was looking for in this rotation.

Really enjoy the slightly crazy double stag from Childers out of her rudi

Watson – FX – Auburn – double pike, comes in too short with a lunge forward – double tuck is more under control – back 1.5 to layout, has to whip it around

Nice double pike from Desch on floor – a little short on double back with a step.

Strong 1.5 from Brenner on VT for Michigan – small step forward

Finnegan – BB – lSU _ wolf single is good – bhs loso and a check on that, nearly a bend at the hips – switch 1/2, gorgeous obviously – side somi, small lean – back 1/1 dismount, stuck.

Wojcik sticks her 1.5 AGAIN – Identical to last week.

Milliet – FX – Auburn – front lay to rudi, LOVE her straight position on that from lay – high double pike, lands a little chest down with a lunge back. 1.5 to layout.

LSU finishes 196.275. That will end us here. Auburn will defeat LSU.

Sounds like McKenna Kelley hurt herself on floor for LSU.

9.950 for Wojcik to get Michigan over 196 again. Just barely. Will not get ahead of Denver.

FINAL: Auburn 196.700, LSU 196.275

Karr – UB – finishes with a DLO, stuck with a lean to hold it.

Graber on FX, second pass comfortable front lay to front full – double pike, good height

Denver finishes with 196.275 to Michigan’s 196.025. Alabama still to finish on floor.

Love Jovannah East’s amplitude on beam. That straddle jump you guys.

Olsen – FX – Alabama – pike full in – step – a little low but will get props for the difficulty – front tuck through to double tuck, easy for her – split leap full, hit – double pike, does well to keep that front foot down, though borderline lack of control. Good set.

Doesn’t look like it will be enough to catch Denver. Alabama finishes 196.175.

Haven’t checked in on Utah/BYU yet, but it looks like BYU is going to score an 80 billion.

Super solid full-in final pass for Skinner.

After 3: Utah 148.050, BYU 147.450

Meanwhile, the Stanford tri-meet at Sac State is also underway – solid loso stepout series from Stephenson (?) – switch to sheep, check sort of standing there – full turn – gainer full, stuck –

Flam – BB – Stanford – bhs layout 2 feet – huge break, bend at the hips, manages to stay on somehow – punch front and falls – so Stanford will be counting those two 9.725s it had to start.

Lawson – BB – Stanford – ARABIAN, hit with a step forward to hold it – cat leap to switch 1/2, well short on the switch 1/2 – large check on full turn – bhs loso series, hit, feet – gainer pike, stuck –

Burch – BB – Utah – bhs loso series, hit – cat leap to aerial to bveat jump, solid – split to straddle 1/4, solid – gainer full, short with a step forward, the biggest problem in the routine. 9.775.

That’s been a theme today, people struggling on their gainer fulls.

Bryant – BB – Stanford – bhs loso series, leg-up wobble but pulls it back – kickover front, solid – bhs bhs double tuck with a bounce back

Boden – FX – BYU – clean double tuck, slide back – rudi, lunge back, a little crossed legs – switch ring is well short of split – 1.5 to 1/2, best pass of the set. 9.725.

Reinstadtler – BB – Utah – aerial to split, nice – bhs loso series, was going to be on but was tentative working out of it with a lean – switch to straddle 1/4, good elements, not the fastest combo – gainer full, stuck.

Good hit from Fitzgerald on BB for Stanford

Marsh – FX – BYU – double tuck, clean, control – double pike, same – good control on thos passes – switch ring to switch side, not a lot of closure on switch ring – 1.5 to front tuck, no punch on front tuck and sits it down. 9.075

Lee – BB – Utah – bhs loso series, pretty feet as always – switch to straddle 1/4, a little close to the beam – side aerial to full, stuck. Good one.

Vitkauskas – FX – BYU – punch front 2/1, a little short of rotation with a crossover step – 1.5 to layout with a lunge forward – switch side to popa, fine – rudi, good power, a little bouncy

MMG – BB – Utah – switch with a clear hesitation, no leap series there, will have to improvise – bhs loso loso series, right on – aerial, to wolf jump, a little slow in that one too – switch to split jump to get her leap combo – short on split jump – full turn – 1.5, some knees, holds the stick. 9.850 for that. Well, they’re definitely not worried about pause deductions in this one.

I need this lady to stop calling switches “scissors”

Miner – FX – BYU – DLO, big with a large bounce back, just stays in bounds – 1.5 to front pike is clean, just a tad short on the pike – split leap full to split jump full, short of 180 on that leap – double pike, good, step back. 9.825. I had it at 9.700, in case you were wondering.

Randall – BB – Utah – loso series, hit – sheep jump, short of closure – switch to split, solid, a little back leg – rulfova is quite nice again – 2.1, good stick, a little leg crossing. 9.875

Person – FX – BYU – front 2/1, large lunge forward out of it – switch ring to switch 1/2, switch ring is the best of the lineup so far, switch 1/2 a little short – doing the chicken dance I think – rudi to double stag, large travel back on the double stag –

Skinner – BB – Utah – bhs loso, solid and secure – knees bent – side aerial to sissone – oh lady, nothing about this meet has been “harshly scored” – switch to straddle to back tuck, a little abbreviated in those positions tonight, secure but not extending all the way – double tuck, pace back, good hit. 9.800. I mean justifiable but totally out of whack with the rest of the cracky scoring in this meet. Like where did that even come from suddenly?

Evans – FX – BYU – she is pecking like a chicken at the beginning of this one, not sure how that fits the Mario theme – double pike, nice control – double tuck, also under control – front lay to front full, clean. 9.900.

FINAL: Utah 197.250, BYU 196.475

Hoang – FX – Stanford – STRONG DLO, good control too – front lay to front full second pass with a step – double pike, little bounce but should be another good score. 9.875.

Well, Sac State is definitely going to be in the 45s on bars.

Bryant – FX – Stanford – full in, good power, slide back – front tuck through to double pike, a little bit of an awkward step out of that one with possible OOB – double tuck is nicely controlled

49.075 for Stanford on floor.

That’s going to do it for me, I think. Tell me how Stanford’s bars go. I’ll be lighting all the candles.

    1. One of the vault judges at UF was probably underpaid 🙂 before the meet, or started drinking the wine a bit late and the effect hasn’t kicked in yet, let’s see what happens when they get to beam perhaps the 10s will be flying…

      🙂 🙂 🙂

  1. Missouri’s bars I felt was overscored or Florida underscored (though their scores seem fair). Just a much weaker quality to them.

    1. How I feel when I see Clapper get an 9.875 on beam – she’s on my fantasy team – and I consider looking into hiring Tonya Hardings “friends” to make sure she stays in the lineup. 🙂

    2. I’m torn on Boren’s score. There are obvious deductions but she is selling the heck out of that choreo! I really hope this routine ages well because she could bring down the house.

  2. Is anyone getting foxsports go to work for them? It doesn’t show any gymnastics scheduled for me….

    1. I think you have to be in the Southwest. I changed my VPN location to Houston and it worked but my tv provider doesn’t show it so I miss it anyway haha

      1. What VPN are you using? Looking for one that lets you change to a specific city, not just country.

      2. Liz I’m using Private Internet Access. As an Aussie it gets me access to us netflix, so it’s worth the money, but if you’re American it may not be.

  3. No to floor music that you/your choreographer just can’t do justice to.

This includes Syrinan Refugee used by Missouri gymnast (and someone else this year?) and Nebraska athlete using Simone’s floor music, including “Oh!” choreo.

Just no. You do not want your mediocre dance/choreo to be compared to Natalie Brown dancing to KJ choreo or Simone. Trust me.

    1. She took a bad tumble off the bars in Thursday’s practice and was taken to hospital in the ambulance (with a backboard to make sure she didn’t move). She’s apparently OK, being held out for a possible concussion.

      1. I mean… I’d say the original comment was a lot ruder. I’m not even a massive Maggie fan.

      2. Maggie is a beautiful gymnast but it is a little bit frustrating when she skirts deductions that would be given to other athletes. But to say that you’re “sick” if her is a bit harsh. She is good enough to weather a few tenths here or there

  4. Alicia Sacramone’s hair craziness with the headset just now was the perfect way to end my week.

    1. Thru 3 rotations at the Alabama quad the ONLY score to go 9.9+ is the anchor Denver vaulter who went 9.925 – the reason the Pioneers LEAD THE MEET after three.

  5. i’m interested to see if finnegan will upgrade to a 1.5 on vault. it seems like she has the power to get it around and i know that she’s been training it for years at lsu. if she added it her all around score could really challenge at nationals and she might even be in the running for a gym slam

    1. it’s her senior year, the LSU coaches have said that they don’t want to push her to more difficulty when her full can score as well as most 1.5s

  6. I don’t think LSU deserved to win that meet, but I also don’t think the judging was quite the same between LSU and Auburn

  7. The scoring seemed a bit unfair at the Alabama Quad. Watch Michigan’s floor rotation and the low scores (9.7s for well hit routines) compared to Alabama’s…

    1. Yeah, scoring was inconsistent, but Alabama arguably got lowballed on vault.

The judges need to get together and decide if they’re going to take the new beam deduction or not. Right now, it appears to be wildly inconsistent. The deduction was definitely taken at this meet, definitely not at others.

      1. SO true. BYU is out here getting a 49.325 on beam, which is ridiculous considering how other teams at about the same level have fared tonight.

  8. Impressive from Florida 197.3 with a whack vault rotation. Once they get back Baumann on vault, beam, and floor (9.9 plus on all three) they will be a serious threat.

Was not expecting that Denver win. Some concern about Alabama are they just a middle of the road team now?

    1. Alabama is not going to challenge for the title this year and is unlikely to make the Final Four, but I watched most of meet, and they would have probably had a a score in the high 196s if the scores were consistent with what we saw at other meets (same with Michigan; I’ll have to go back and watch Denver’s routines). If anything, it seems like based on the first 2 meets that Alabama is no longer getting the “home bonus” that they used to and that other traditional top teams get. It will be interesting to see what happens in Athens next week.

  9. Watched Utah/byu. Announcer worst ever. I agree with Spencer’s comments on scoring. Some leaps were short, handstands, etc but many were scored over 9.8. What is with the judges this year???

    1. BYU is starting to look like a modern and much sharper team. They seem to be enjoying the sport and not dressing like a 1920 bathing suit Leo ad. Young has done wonders but absolutely no way were those beam routines 9.9’s. They’ll be interesting to follow. Their roster is as big as UCLA

  10. I’m surprised you didn’t comment on Kelly talking about Sydney Snead’s(I think) body and her co-anchor saying “Oh, Kelly…”

  11. So I missed all the meets last night expecting to go to ESPN and have all the replays available as they always have been. NOPE. At one point I saw scheduled replays at like 3 AM a la Pac 12, but don’t even see that on their schedule now.

What happened? Is it a glitch, can it be fixed? Can someone talk to KJC and have her restore order to the land?
