The biggest day of the three. 32 teams over 8 sessions, 16 advance to tomorrow.

The rotation draw has given the #2 teams the delight of starting on beam, which means that those first rotations are critical if theoretical borderline team is going to open the door for a potential upset bid. If those #2 seeds get through beam successfully, they’ll feel much more comfortable about their chances to make it through to tomorrow.

We are introductionating in Ann Arbor. And presumably in Athens though the stream has not begun yet.

Dana Duckworth status: suns out, guns out
Bev Plocki status: broken wrist?

Touch warmup beginning now at Michigan. Michigan’s posted lineup does not have Karas on floor. Wonder if we’ll see a lot of top seeds take a play-it-by-ear approach to floor in the final rotation. We don’t have to push it if we already have a big lead…

It’s starting!

Rotation 1

Heiskell – VT – Mich –  yfulll step back, and then another small step to salute, pretty solid, some knees, not a large step

Klopfer – BB – Alabama – aerial to bhs, quick enough – strong leaps – lone sissone, good – hop on side aerial to full disomount. Good.

Magee sticks a full on vault for Georgia. 9.850

Ella Warren solid on beam for Kenbtucky, finishing 1.5, short with a step back

Maxim – VT – Michigan – near stick on her Tsuk 1/2, just a little short with a small slide. One of her strong ones.

Ward – VT- Georgia – Tsuk 1/1 only a small hop back. Good.

Olsen – BB – Alabama – bhs loso loso series, very solid as we’ve come to expect – switch to wolf, hit – full turn, no trouble – aerial, knees – double pike, a little short this week but only a small step. Good.

Vega – VT – Georgia – hop back on the full, pretty much her usual, good distance of course

Brenner – VT – Mich – small step back on 1.5, good.

Hit beam second up for Angeny for Kentucky.

Childers – BB – Alabama – sheep, small hesitation into beat but fine – loso series, a little dance out to cover – aerial to scale is strong.

Dickson comes up short on her Omelianchik, hits but a large lunge back – 1.5, holds stick with a lean.

Good full from McLean on vault.

Korth has a lean check at the hips on her back tuck on beam,

Lukacs – VT – Georgia – one of her stronger DTYs, Suzanne almost tackles her. Best part.

Also Vega got a 9.9 for a non-stuck yfull. DIDN’T I TELL YOU.

Great 1.5 from Karas on vault. Only a small slide.

Snead with a strong landing on her 1.5, small movement. Georgia did the job on vault and is getting the scores too.

Basically stuck 1.5 from Wojcik on vault, just a slide of heels together, well done.

9.950 for a non-stick for Snead. The scores are coming for Georgia here. Regional over.

A check or two for Stuart on beam for Kentucky. But small. Good hit.

Gaskins – BB – Alabama – strong side aerial – a little tenttive on full turn – split jump 1/2 from side is OK but it was better extended in the warmup – some knees on losos eries but hit – switch to split is lovely – gainer full. Hit.

That’s five good beams up for Alabama, so they’re doing fine.

Those Iowa State bars scores were right with those Kentucky beam scores, so keep an eye on that. Same with Missouri’s floor.

Dukes – BB – Kentucky – smooth loso series – aerial to split, nice height in both elements – just a touch of feet here and there – no checks – perfect stuck 1.5 dismount

Graber had a check on her series on beam, otherwise fine –

Pretty open double tuck on floor for Astarita of Penn State here –

Tucker – FX – Missouri – full in, strong controlled landing, good – 2/1 to loso, smoothly done – double pike, stuck with just a little low chest

Hyland – BB – Kentucky – switch to split, lovely toes – cat to aerial is smooth – no trouble on bhs loso series either – side aerial to full, stuck. Excellent.

We never got a beam score for Korth. There was some judge discussion. And now is she getting to go again at the end of the beam lineup?

She definitely did some of a routine in her normal position?

Anyway, Korth BB – Part 2 – full turn – bhs loso, knees but hit – cat leap to switch to back tuck is stronger than the first time around – 2/1, stuck, a little chest forward.

Good bars from Ohio State to break 49, though Georgia and Alabama starting to pull away.

Kentucky, Iowa State, and Missouri will all be VERY close after the first rotation. But Kentucky had a good beam. Scores there looking tighter than the other pieces so far.

We’re still waiting on the floor score for Garcia to be posted, so Penn State shouldn’t be as out of it as it looks right now.

After 1:
Georgia 49.500, Missouri 49.225, Kentucky 49.175, Iowa State 49.175
Michigan 49.425, Alabama 49.225, Ohio State 49.050, Penn State 48.500

Big news of that first rotation was that Kentucky would have wanted a better beam score, although I thought they did pretty well.

Judge #2 on vault at Georgia is the only one who understands me.

Rotation 2

We’re up on floor for Kentucky with poland – front tuck through to rudi that got kind of crazy – but fine.

Moment of truth for Missouri on vault because this can get kind of iffy –

Lukacs – UB – Georgia – close on tkatchev bit hit, lots of form – pak is pretty – DLO with a bounce back

Good double pike on floor for Desch. Sticks her doubel tuck, some of her most solid tumbling.

Snead – UB – tkatchev and bail are clean – DLO, two steps back and a leg-up balance check, which was kind of bizarre

Mariani just does hold onto her bail second up on bars for Michigan. Good save.

Missouri will definitely be pleased by how cracky the vault scoring is in Georgia. They needed some gifts there and are getting many of them.

Stuck dismount for Al-Hameed on bars for Georgia. Sailing through.

Olsen hits floor, finishes with controlled double pike.

Bounce back on FTDLO from Dickson on bars.

Missouri broke 49 on vault. Staying right in this.

Karas – UB – Michigan – toe on toe shap, good legs – bail, a very small back arch, good legs together there as well – holds onto vertical hs on high bar – DLO, stuck

This is after a miss from Brenner in the thrid spot, so important routine.

Oakley got a little archy in a handstand on the low bar but saved a solid routine.

Hyland – FX – Kentucky – double pike, solidly done –

Wojcik – UB – Michigan – short first hs – toe 1/2 to pilked jaeger, close with some elbows but caught – bail, hit – better final cast hs – DLO, hit with a lunge back – that was the most tentative I’ve seen her on bars so it won’t be quite her usual score, but it’s a necessary and usable hit.

Kentucky starting to get the floor scores that will allow for some distancing.

Farley – UB – Michigan – hit first hs – 1/2 turn to piked jaeger, clipped her feet on the bar and did amazingly well to work through it, still a big deduction – bail is pretty – finishes 1/2 turn into double front, stuck. Super routine, but then the clip of the feet, so let’s see what they do with it. That clip is a .1 flat deduction, so not devastating.

Korth chest down but secure landing on her full-in on floor.

Farley gets through with 9.800 on bars, so Michigan survives the rotation.

We know Kentucky will be in second after this rotation, even before Dukes goes.

Pretty double pike on floor to finish from Graber. They have multiple 9.900s already in this rotation.

Dukes – FX – Kentucky – stuck double pike – front full to layout, solid – double tuck, ooc with a bounce back, but otherwise a clean one

Guerra hit DLO on floor, chest a bit too forward – overturns her switch side into popa, but good positions – 1.5 to layout, clean, love the straight shape in layout – double pike,c ontrolled step. Strong.

Ohio State had a beam disaster and Penn State is falling way out of this with 9.6s, so unless something ridiculous happens, Michigan and Alabama are looking good.

I’m going to keep an eye on Michigan’s beam, because Michigan’s beam, but otherwise that one is going to get the less-focused treatment because it’s starting to become too clear.

After 2:
Georgia 98.750, Kentucky 98.525, Missouri 98.250, Iowa State 98.050

Kentucky will feel this is still too close for comfort. They should be fine, but no room for even like a random 9.6 on bars.

Alabama 98.650, Michigan 98.475, Penn St 97.500, Ohio St 96.700

The first semifinal out of LSU is about to begin, the one with Utah, Minn, BYU, and Arkansas, so that could get interesting…

Rotation 3

Georgia has to beam now. BEAM.

Snead – BB – UGA – bhs loso bhs series, good hold since she was a little off line – the switch you guys, I cannot – front tuck, nailed – 2/1, stuck, nice.

Kwan only a small slide back on full –

Lovely the improvised choreo from Farley on beam to cover a balance check

Dukes – VT – Kentucky – lovely full, good pop, step back, a touch of knees

We’re getting started at the LSU site with a critical beam rotation from Minnesota.

Sonier – BB – bhs loso series, good – split jump 3/4 with a lean correction – standing loso, hit – bhs bhs 1.5, stuck. Really good start.

Dickson gerogia with a check on her series on beam –

Hyland – VT – kentucky – another hop good on her full, good, normal

Magee – Bb – Georgia – straddle to straddle 1/2, pretty extension as always – fall on loso series MAGEE!. Here we go. Switch to switch side, a check –

Loper – BB – Minnesota – check on series and again on full turn

Stuart sits her 1.5 on vault for Kentucky! They’ll be OK as long as they get a good one from Korth.

Michigan comfortable on beam through three

Korth – VT – she hit it – she did land a little short with a slide back, but a hit score. Missouri will not feel like they’ve been taken out of it now though.

Oakley – BB – Georgia – not her most comfortable wolf, a little leany – pretty loso series, well done – split to split ring jump, small lean correction – gainer full, hop. A tentative routine but a hit.

nailed double front on bars for Missouri –

Minnesota trhough beam with three hits to start, but a couple 9.7s.

Baumann – BB – Georgia – side aerial to loso series, hit with a pretty large leg-up wobble – 1.25 turn – switch side, hit well – 2/1, another leg-up balance check but this time on the ground.

It shouldn’t be more than 9.7 but it’s a hit. They survived the two nervy routines. But of course this meet so 9.775. Dear.

Love the full in on floor from Iowa State

Minnesota, BYU, and Arkansas all very close. Actually Utah too.

Skinner – VT – Utah – hop back on DTY, not her best control but good, will score well.

Vega – BB – Georgia – switch to split ring, good – aerial to split, soft knees in split but fine – bhs loso series, smooth – stuck dismount. Georgia will be fine again.

Good power on loso series from Sales of Minnesota.

Flung DLO from Burton on bars for Arkansas but a hit.

Michigan and Alabama remaining fully in control.

Georgia is going to be dine, Kentucky will have 3 tenths on Missouri going to the last rotation.

Heads up Ramler was great on beam. Please be shocked.

The scores at LSU seem to have lost themselves, but a very close first rotation is finishing up with Evans on floor.

Evan – FX – BYU – double pike, solid, keeps from foot down – double tuck, a little short with a hop forward – split leap full to wolf jump full, strong – gorg front lay to front full to finish – disqualified for flossing, though. Shame because it should be have been in the 9.8s but we’ll have to give it a 0.000 for flossing.

It’s a 49.200 for Utah on vault, lower than they would have wanted but fine for right now. 48.900 for Arkansas on bars. (not high but they’re through the trouble event).

After 1:
Utah – 49.200
BYU – 49.075
Minnesota – 49.050
Arkansas 48.900

Eyes emoji or whatnot.

Kentucky has three tenths on Missouri heading to bars while Missouri is on beam, which should be a comfortable set-up for Kentucky, but keep a look out.

Next rotation –

Davis – FX – Georgia – lunge forward on 2.5 landing, too out of control there but not a big deal –

Stuart – Ub – Kentucky – tkatchev, good, hits bail – shortish final cast hs – FTDLO, hop back. Fine.

Solid three series from Yamzon on beam. Deep on kickover with a small lean, but works through it.

Dula – UB – Utah – 1/2 turn in jaeger, lovely as always – tight position in next cast hs – hit bail – stalder to double tuck, stuck, pretty routine, just the handstands to work out

Kwan – UB – kentucky – 1/2 turn to super high jaeger, good, into overshoot – giant full to double tuck, small hop back. They’re doing the job here.

Kim Tessen stuck FTDT on bars.

Arkansas has a fall in the second possition on beam from Hambrick.

OOH! A mistake from Dukes in the 4th position on bars for Kentucky. Caught her foot on a toe shoot and came off the bar.

Two routines to stay alive for Kentucky coming up now.

Iowa State finishing up its day with Sievers on vault – handspring pike 1/2 short with a large lunge forward. Not a strong on there. But a really good showing overall for Iowa State today. Competitive with these teams

The challenging teams in LSU are all getting 9.7ed to death in the second rotation, so they’re all staying pretty close.

Hyland – UB – Kentucky – tkatchev, hit, a little close but fine – bail, good, I’d take for a couple handstands – FTDT, small slide back. Not her cleanest but the hit they needed.

Missouri going through solidly enough on beam to keep the pressure on Kentucky for this final bars routine from Korth. A must hit.

Korth – UB – kentucky – piked jaeger, solid, just a bit of elbows – bail, good – nice final cast hs – FTDLO, with two lunges back but kept to her feet. That was close to being a disaster, but she got through it. Should be enough.

Minnesota is now working against a fall third up on floor.

Kentucky finishes 196.850

Dickson with a crazy landing on her double arabian on floor, large lunge forward an OOB.

Alabama has qualified with a score over 197. Michigan on its way there after finishing up floor.

Really solid three series from Ward on beam for Missouri. Straddle 1/4 was tentative with a little check – – strong side aerial –

But Missouri is going to come up just short.

Hailey Garner came back on beam for Arkansas with a hugely important hit routine to avoid counting a fall. Arkansas still right in this thing.

Minnesota needs some big final floor scores, and if the loveliness of Ramler’s final pass is any indication, they’ll start getting them. 9.775. Admittedly misses her first pass

Somehow Dickson still went 9.800 for that floor routine where she flew OOB, so that’s cool. Georgia will advance, but not with a particularly convincing performance for tomorrow’s purposes.

Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, and Alabama will advance — all according to seed.

Interesting: Alabama will outscore Michigan here. Very important for tomorrow purposes.

Williams – FX – Minnesota – a little bouncy on front 2/1 – switch side to popa are how they should look, excellent – HUGE 1.5 in her second pass, but overdid it a little so the layout connected out was flat, landed it fine, but a position deduction – solid rudi, love her twisting.

The judges were not here for Minnesota’s floor rotation, so this thing is getting intense.

After 2:
Utah 98.525
Arkansas – 97.950
BYU – 97.825
Minnesota 97.825

This one is LIVE.

Wrapping up our final scores from the first 2 –

GEORGIA SEMI 1
1. Georgia – 197.300
2. Kentucky 196.850
3. Missouri – 196.625
4. Iowa State – 196.250

Really tough draw for Missouri and Iowa State, and it showed with them not advancing despite really strong performances. 196.625 is all Missouri could have hoped for and will advance out of most semifinals. The worry for the other teams is that Georgia got some seriously elevated scores for that performance, and if it continues tomorrow, may just close the door on them.

MICHIGAN SEMI 1
1. Alabama – 197.225
2. Michigan – 196.950
3. Penn State -195.750
4. Ohio State – 194.725

The book closed on this semifinal pretty early, but tomorrow is going to be gooooood.

Rotation 3 from LSU

Utah should be pretty comfortable, but we’ll need to keep an eye on beam here.

Minnesota opens vault with a stick from Quaglia, not a lot of height but good landing –

Yamzon with some small slides on double back passes but OK –

Great Gienger from BYU’s first on bars

Sonier – VT – Minnesota – a little deeper in the landing position than Quaglia, but only a small hop back

Sales – VT – Minn – small hop back, better distance than the first two though

Hambrick – FX – Arkansas – double tuck, controlled step, great position – front lay to front full, slide forward, a little soft in layout – double pike, a bit out of control on the step

Williams with a huge full for Minnesota but also a larger hop back

Body collapse on bail third up for BYU on bars, but she works through it

Ramler – VT – MInn – holds the stick on her 1.5! Very nice. Not a perfect vault with a little knees, a little lean to hold the stick, but very good.

Loper – VT – Minn – she sticks her 1.5 as well. Great vault, and a little higher and more secure than Ramler’s.

Minnesota had reason to be worried but has officially shown up today with those final two vaults. 9.950 for Loper.

Utah hitting on beam through the first three, so no issues there.

Good amplitude on piked jaeger from Boden on bars for BYU – finishes FTDT, a little too forward with a hop

McGlone – FX – Arkansas – short on her DLO with a lunge, came close to landing OOB but didn’t which is a major deal in minimizing deductions – double tuck is very solid – 1.5 to layout. Got through with a9.8, they’ll take that.

MMG tentative on her leap combination with a check

Evans – UB – BYU – nice high gienger with legs together – DLO, small hop forward

Shaffer – FX – Arkansas – hit double arabian, just a hair deep witha  step forward – very clean double tuck position – split leap full to popa, strong extension – 1.5 to layout, solid –

Skinner came up short on her double tuck on beam with a step forward, otherwise her usual

Arkansas needs to drop the 9.700 for Yamzon to stay with Minnesota. Carter to anchor.

Carter – FX – Arkansas – double tuck, very clean, chest up, control – 1.5 to front full, uncontrolled step forward – switch 1/2 to split jump 1/1 is why she can score so high on floor, well extended – double tuck, secure landing, a little low.

After 3:
Utah 147.600
Arkansas 147.125
Minnesota 147.050
BYU 146.825

THIS MEET. Minnesota will probably be OK with this getting to end with the Ramler and Lu routines on bars. Arkansas needs the landings on those 1.5s, and Minnesota needs the early bars scores to be there. And BYU is just three tenths out. Going to beam, but beam can score better than vault.

Rotation 4

Yamzon – VT – Arkansas – comes up a bit too short on her full with a hop forward. Ooof 9.600

Quaglia – UB – Minn – shortish first hs – 1/2 turn to piked jager with some crazy feet but hit – better final has – giant full to double tuck, short with a hop/salute forward. 9.725

Pennese hits vault second up, step back on full, a little direction.

Clean first beam from BYU.

Willmarth – UB – Minn – small arch in first hs – hits Ray – bail, legs together well – hop back on dismount, some loose back things but not a ton to take. 9.700. Not the scores Minnesota wanted to start with.

Shaffer – VT – Ark – very clean Y1/2 as always, small foot adjustment, good body position

Hambrick – VT – Ark – solid enough 1.5, good completion, lunge forward, useful

Loper hits bars, finishes up giant full to double tuck, small step

McGlone – VT – Ark – Yfull – really good power, didn’t really hold the landing though, so it’s a step back and then a little hop/salute/celebration to tkae on landing

Sales – UB – Minn – clean bail, good legs together – rushed cast hs on high – khorkina, hit well – better final cast hs, good position – DLO, didn’t quite show the stick, step/salute

Elswick – VT – Ark – ooooh lands short on her 1.5 with two steps back. Won’t be the score they needed there

Bars scores starting to deliver for Minn

Ramler – UB – Minn – shap to pak, perfect – toe shap 1/2, legs right together – toe on to FTDT, stuck, just a little deep. Great routine

49.050 for Arkansas on vault. That is not quite going to do it I don’t think. Minnesota just needs a hit from Lu in the fifth position.

BYU is having to count a 9.6 and 9.7 on beam.

Lu – UB – Minn – toe shap to pak, lovely – 1/2 turn on low, snaps it together quickly – very strong final cast hs – DLO, small hop back.

Can’t imagine that won’t be enough for Minnesota. She just needed a 9.800 to get past Arkansas.

It’s 9.900 for Lu! Minnesota moves ahead of Arkansas by .125.

BYU too far back and can’t get there with these last two beam routines, so it will be Utah and Minnesota after all coming out of this one, but it sure was close.

Utah is in comfortable position, but it sure is more 9.7s than they would want on floor. As in some.

Solid piked full in from MMG.

Really strong kickover front on beam from Evans to finish the day for BYU.

Skinner does Skinner on floor to end this one. Not the stunning day Utah wanted, but enough to win the session and advance to tomorrow comfortably.

WHEW!

LSU SEMIFINAL 1
1. Utah 196.800
2. Minnesota 196.300
3. Arkansas 196.175
4. BYU 195.550

Arkansas put up a solid performance to keep things exciting, but it was Minnesota’s bars that sealed it in the end. Minnesota was always going to have that final rotation advantage, and it paid off here.

We know nothing about individual qualifiers yet because we have to wait for the evening semifinals and also tomorrow to know who isn’t advancing as part of a team.

The next semifinal will bring us the Denver/Boise State/Washington/Southern Utah clash.

This is a very important rotation for Washington, starting on floor. It needs to be a competitive total since it is their best-scoring event.

Touch warmup wrapping up now.

Rotation 1

Murakami nice jaeger on bars for SUU – clean set

Hop back from Ruiz on Yfull for Denver

Bouza – BB – BSU – good extension in bhs loso series but a clear break, leg-up check – switch to split is nice – cat leap to aerial, a little slow to beat – gainer pike with step. OK. Just 9.650. Not the start BSU wanted.

Nelson – FX – Washington – solid double tuck, control, chest up – front lay front full, just a touch bouncy – double pike, good toe point, not the highest, but solid control.

Schou holds the stick on a Yfull.

Big gienger fron Tervort on bars.

Amado – BB – Boise St – bhs bhs layout to two feet, fall. IT JUST GOT INTERESTING.

Chesnok – VT – Denver – bounce back on full, good power, chest up –

Riley – FX – Washington – oooooooh. Landed super deep on her double pike and falls.

I’m quietly obsessed with the amplitude of these southern Utah same-bar releases.

Sundstrom clean full, small bounce back

Nipp on bars for SUU, solid jaeger, a little tight in position – bail, hits vertical but a clear straddle – DLO, short with a lunge

Karr – VT – Denver – hop forward on her 1.5 this week, the bit of knees, but a solid showing

McGregor – BB – BSU – bhs back pike, hit – side aerial to full, stuck. Bits of knees here and there but an absolutely necessary and composed hit.

Brown – VT – Denver – gigantic 1.5 of course, comes up a bit short this time with a step, not too large.

Cunningham – FX – Washington – just a little bouncy on opening double tuck – 1.5 to front pike, unclear dance out landing, some form – finishes double pike, secure, a little deep

Esmerian – BB – Boise St – small lean on three series but hit – stuck 1.5. They’re finding their feet.

Another big gienger fron Jorgensen on bars – front giant 1/2 to double tuck, a little hop. They’re in this.

Means – BB – Boise St – bhs loso series, solid – switch to straddle 3/4, some back leg on the switch – kickover into beat, a little deep but solid – gainer full, stuck. Nice

Denver goes sub 49 on vault. Wow. Only a tenth up on SUU. And that was a pretty normal vault rotation for them.

Thompson – FX – Washignton – solid double tuck, controlled step – split leap 1.5, around – front lay to front full, hit, just a little low – pretty clean rudi, hit

Masiado – BB – Boise State – L turn, not quite up to horizontal – solid loso series, tight position but hit – switch 1/2 is well short of 180 with a check, a few deductions to take on that one – side aerial to tuck full. No counting falls and the 9.9s came for them in the middle of the rotation to save it.

9.750 for Masiado. Ends up being enough to put Boise State ahead of Denver after 1. The thing to watch on vault – the scores are going to be messy if everyone is given the “normal Yfull with a hop is 9.750” lens.

Floor scores are very slow. We’ve only been through 4 routines for Washington there.

Washington – FX – Washington – nice high double tuck but a bounce back – front lay to front full, dance out, excellent amplitude on that pass as well – switch side to popa, good – double pike, a larger bounce back on that one. 9.850. Floor scores pretty loose.

Hoffa – FX – Washington – pretty good full in – chest down but mostly controlled – front lay to front full, solid twisting position – split leap full to wolf jump full, around – double tuck, a little forward there as well

Meanwhile Hyderally of Alaska got 9.900 on beam to tie for the lead there.

After 1:
1. Washington 49.225
2. Boise State 49.000
3. Denver – 48.950
4. Southern Utah – 48.850

So I guess you could say this one isn’t obvious so far. Important for Washington to have this advantage on Boise State now, it’s what they needed, but the proof will come as Washington moves from its best-scoring event to its lowest-scoring event. If things get to 9.700 here, we could see a shift. All four teams very much in this right now.

Rotation 2

Ladieu – BB – SUU – bhs loso series, secure, pretty good extension – switch to straddle 1/4, tight in the straddle position

Nilson – FX – BSU – double pike, chest up, hit – switch side to popa, a little short on popa – a bit of legs on twisting but OK – rudi just a bit of bounce

Cunningham – VT – UW – big distance on her full, bounce back but only a small one, some chest position. 9.750

Kern – UB – Denver – hits jaeger – good hs after – bail, mostly solid legs – DLO with a bounce back

Riley – VT – UW – pace forward on her Y1/2, one of her stronger ones, not too large on the step, good distance

Small step for Ruiz on DLO on bars

Amado – FX – Boise St – a little bouncy on opening double back – switch ring and switch 1/2, not bad – 1,5 to layout to jump attempt but didn’t really stag out of that – double pike, secure, but chest down

Hoffa with a pace back on her full, but they’re controlling these vaults pretty well to start. Not big scores but staying in it, which is what they need to do.

Chesnok – UB – Denver – great giant full – hit tkatchev – bail, just a bit of hip angle there – FTDT, only small movement. Good.

Copiak – VT – UW – sticks her Yfull (basically), small movement of one foot, some form, good vault.

McGregor – FX – BSU – double pike, chest pretty well up – 1.5 to layout with a dance out –

Nipp with lovely toe point on beam for SUU

Glynn – UB – Denver – lovely bail – good extension – FTDT, crossover step to the side

Thompson with a huge and stuck full for Washington. Washington did what it could do with those five vaults. Job accomplished.

Murakami – BB – SUU – really secure three series, just some knee, but very nice – check on sheep

Brown – UB – Denver – toe shap to pak, nice power – toe shap 1/2, small leg break – good final cast hs – DLO, step back. They’re not getting the landings today so far, Denver

Brooks up with her Omelianchik sixth up for Washington on vault. Not bad, lots of tucking there, which will get deducted but not too much on the step

Means – FX – Boise St – bounce on double pike – whip 1/2 to front full with a lunge forward –

Karr – UB – Denver – short first hs – giant full to gienger to overshoot, perfect – short cast hs on high – DLO, stuck. Very good. Denver is back.

Really good 1.5 from Leydin competing as an individual.

If Denver was 48.950 on vault, then Washington will take 48.900 every day of the week.

Bruden – FX – BSU – double pike, small bounce – switch ring and ring 1/2, no split – 1.5 to layout, a little whippy on that layout – double tuck, solid

Nice leaps from Gonzalez on beam, just a couple checks, saves a front aerial coming in a little short – stuck 1.5

Esmerian – FX – BSU – front 2/1, crossover step and 100% went OOB but that woman did not raise her flag, so well see, perhaps someone in the other corner did – 1.5 to layout, kind of flat in that layout – Boise State giving itself work to do on bars in the last rotation – rudi, also a little bouncy

SUU losing a little more pace with 48.850 on beam. Denver’s 49.325 on bars will regain the lead.

9.800 for Esmerian on floor. No OOB deduction taken for an obvious OOB. YOU GUYS.

After 2:
Denver 98.275
Washington 98.125
Boise State 98.100
Southern Utah 97.700

So I guess you could say it’s close. Boise State got away with one there on floor with the no-OOB call. Washington will be solidly pleased with leading BSU at this point in the meet, but the final rotation favors BSU by several tenths, so Washington will need a big rotation 3 to guard against that.

Denver is still way too close for comfort and closer than expected. They haven’t done floor yet, which has been a loose event today, but certainly any margin to have an issue on beam is gone.

Rotation 3

Nelson catches very close on bars – pak is nice – giant full to double tuck, solid, great second 1/2.

Nilson hop back on full, some knees – 9.700

Brown on BB – a little short of 180 on her dance positions – aerial to wolf jump – gainer full, stuck

Smith – VT – BSU – a little too out of control ont he bounce back out of her full

Washington UB – UW – great gienger and overshoot, very strong – FTDT, hop to the side, a bit staggered in landing

Ruiz – BB – Denve r- lands pretty chest down on her loso series but secure – side aerial is nice – gainer pike, hop

Much better full from Bruden on VT, small hop and nice open shape

Excellent full from Bouza, big height, small step

Roberson – UB – UW – piked jaeger to overshoot – nbice and efficient – DLO, shuffle back, two small steps. Nice to see her back in the lineup, but UW needs to get out of the 9.7s and immediately.

Sundstrom – BB – Denver – small check on loso series – switch to switch 1/2 to beat, pretty solid shape on that switch 1/2 – gainer pike, holds stick with a lean

McGregor – VT – BSU – full, comes up a little short with a hop forward –

Riley – UB – UW – shap to bail, great legs together – DLO, great, stuck landing, a little close to the bar. Strong routine. 9.725 feels very low, but I’ll admit I was watching three routines at once and could have missed things.

Split on Riley’s routine was 9.900 to 9.600, so looks like I’m not the only one confused.

Means hits her 1.5 for Boise State, hop forward and some knees, but a hit

Vasquez – BB – Denver – aerial to bhs loso, strong extension – switch to split, excellent positions – y spin – split jump – side aerial to full, stuck. That’ll work.

Copiak – UB – UW – late grip change – BIG piked jaeger but crashes to the ground. Staying down and the coaches are looking at her.

I think she’s OK, but Washington is in serious trouble right now and SUU is getting back into it.

Thompson – UB – UW – 1/2 turn to jaeger, some elbows on catch – leg break on bail with an arch but holds onto it – FTDT, small slide. A hit, but another one with deductions to take. Washington will not get the advantage it needed because of bars.

All the Washington counting bars scores in the 9.7s, loses ground to Boise State heading to the fourth rotation. Washington really needs to pull something out now.

Loomis – FX – SUU – quite bouncy on her opening leap combination – double pike, some chest, bit of a slide back – also bouncy on her switch side to popa, she has lost at least a tenth here on dance element landings – front lay to 1/2, small bounce – double tuck, lands forward with a step. Shouldn’t be a counting score here.

Denver pulled away in the third rotation with a big beam score, so they’ll be fine heading to floor.

After 3:
1. Denver – 147.750
2. Boise St – 146.950
3. Washington – 146.850
4. Southern Utah – 146.775

So it’s real. But definite advantage Boise State going to bars while Washington is on beam and SUU is on vault. We’ll see if the bars judges are here for Boise State, though.

Also, we’ve hit the Spencer hates everything portion of the day, and we’re not even halfway done, so this is going to get cool.

Rotation 4

Bouza – UB – BSU – good first hs – clear hip to tkatchev, solid toes – bail, a little floppy in the air but ended solidly in hs – good final cast hs – DLO, holds the stick with a little lean. Boise State not playing on bars. 9.875

Brooks – BB – UW – hit kickover front bhs – aerial to beat is good – switch to stag with a check – gainer full, step back. Some things to take there. 9.775

Means – UB – BSU – tkatchev, not the highest but hit – one short hs in there – solid bail position – giant full pretty late into double tuck, stuck

Riley – BB – UW – falls on loso series

Stokes – UB – BSU – clear hip shap to bail, good legs overall – smooth final cast hs – DLO, step back

This is running Boise State’s way very quickly.

McGregor – UB – BSU – great first hs – toe on to toe shap to bail, solid – short final cast hs – FTDT, small hop, another strong routine

Yurchenko full-on alert for SUU on vault

Washington – BB – UW – bhs loso series, good save with one foot off the beam, just a small check – good side aerial to tuck full to finish.

Muhlenhaupt – UB – Perfect hs – 1/2 turn to massive jaeger with toe point to overshoot, nicely done – DLO, hop back.

Yeah, this meet is over.

Nilson with a few more short hs and body position things finishing up for Boise State, but a great sutck dismount

Nelson – BB – Washington – bhs loso series, pretty solid – full turn with a little check – sissone to split jump 3/4, a little too slow in combination, check coming out og the series – hits standing loso – 1.5, step

Denver comfortable on floor with a big lead, but these vault and floor numbers will be concerning moving forward.

I just want Elise Ray to pop up and say GO HAVE FUN at various times throughout the day.

Washington would now need 10s from both Rose and Copiak.

Rose – BB – UW – cat to aerial to bhs series, really smooth – switch to split leap cat leap to side aerial to tuck full, stuck. Nice one. She did what she could do.

9.850

Copiak – BB – UW – full turn, nice – bhs loso series, leg-up check – cat leap to switch 1/2, nice extension on switch 1/2 – side aerial, very smooth – stuck 1.5. Good one.

Lynnzee Brown’s excellent DLO was excellent again. End of meet.

Denver and Boise State will advance.

You officially get a 30 second break before the second half of the semifinals.

OREGON STATE SEMIFINAL 1
1. Denver 196.975
2. Boise State 196.225
3. Washington 195.900
4. Southern Utah 195.350

And yes, I will make sure to follow the UCLA routines even though they probably won’t be that relevant for advancing purposes for those of you who do not have Flo.

Also UCLA’s lineups are unique and very much designed with resting for tomorrow in mind. Ohashi and Ross are off floor.

Val is in leather. End of live blog.

Touch is nearly completion in Michigan.

Rotation 1

Hargrove – BB – Nebraska – bhs loso, hit, just a touch low but solid – aerial to beat, smooth – split jump – finishes gainer pike, some knees

Dennis – VT – UCLA – stuck it, fab height as always. 9.900

Wright – VT – UCLA – larger lunge forward on her 1.5

Orel – BB – Nebraska – hit full turn – bhs loso series, hit, a bit of knees – side somi, solid – split to double stag, totally misses the beam and falls. Trouble time now for Nebraska.

Near stick for Tratz on vault for UCLA, small slide

Nice jaeger on bars for Illinois for Biondi, souble tuck, solid landing.

Schweihofer – BB – Nebraska – bhs back pike combination, small shuffle back, keeps it on the beam – switch to switch 1/2 to beat jump, solidly done – stuck 2/1, necessary

We’re now getting starting at Georgia

Lehrmann – VT – OU – stuck 1.5. Well that’s her best vault ever. That works. 9.950 in the first spot.

Ross – VT – UCLA – stuck her 1.5, Great. That’s a vault she has received 10s for before.

Webb – CT – OU – short 1.5 with two lunges back.

Hit beam for Crouse int eh 4th spot.

Solid beam from Jones to start for Cal with 9.800

Small hop forward for DeGouveia on vault. 9.875

Kramer – VT – UCLA – onlya small slide step back on her 1.5, one of her stronger ones, comes in kind of crunched down.

Clausi sticks her beam dismount

Trautman with a hop forward on her 1.5, larger than Degouveia’s hop. 9.900 for Trautman though –

Good loso series from Houchin on beam for Nebraska. Kind of a large arm wave on a split jump though

Maggie is back on vault and sticks a 1.5. Because duh.

Keelen – BB – Cal – bhs loso series, solid, just a little closed angle – falls on kickover front. Nervy time for Cal now.

Dowell – VT – OU – just a bit shor ton her 1.5 with a step back

Hit loos series for Hassel on beam – aerial good – split jump to sheep, excellent position on split jump – 1.5 dismount, small slide

Oklahoma very strong on vault for 49.525. Remember how Georgia went 49.500 for its rotation at this meet?

So Seilnacht – BB – Cal – bhs loso series, pretty, well extended – sticks full out of side aerial. The hit they needed.

Nebraska through beam with 49.100, they’ll take it. Illinois 49,075 on bars and WVU 49.175 on floor though to sit in second place. Eyes on everything there.

UCLA moving clear early with a 49.400 on vault.

Oh and BTW it was a 10 for Ross on vault.

Seilnacht goes 9.850 on beam. Maryland getting a little fallsy on floor.

Shu – BB – Cal – aerial to bhs combination – side somi, held with a little lean forward – switch to split – full turn, strong – side aerial to tuck full, stuck. One routine away from getting through this. 9.875

It will be Bordas in the critical beam position for Cal.

Bordas – BB – smooth full turn – bhs loso series, strong, nice extension – split to double stag, small lean – side aerial, strong – gainer full, sticks it but leans quite a bit forward to hold the stick.

Five hits down for Cal on beam, so this one is moving in a specific direction early.

9.850 for Bordas gives Cal 49.200 on beam.

After 1 – Michigan
1. UCLA 49.400
2. West Virginia 49.175
3. Nebraska 49.100
4. Illinois 49.075

After 1 – Georgia
1. Oklahoma 49.525
2. Cal 49.200
3. NC State 48.850
4. Maryland

We’re waiting on the final score for Maryland, but they are counting a fall on floor.

New scoring link at Georgia

Rotation 2

Borden – BB – Illinois – so flexible on that mount that you’re worried she’s going to brea in half, as usual – aerial to front handspring to sissone –

Frazier – UB – UCLA – short first hs – toe shap with a little legs to pak, smooth – better second hs – Shap 1/2, very strong – DLO, arm wave to hold the stick. Good.

A Glenn – UB – UCLA – perfect first hs – 1/2 turn to jaeger FINGERTIPS but good – pak and peels off on the Pak again like during Vallapalooza – finishes giant full to double tuck, low with a hop

Orel – FX – Nebraska following 9.775 from Johnston – double tuck, very solid – switch side to popa, strong extension there – 1.5 to 1/2 to something? Double stag? Frog plunge?

Delay waiting for Hano on bars. Judges don’t know how to give UCLA less than 9.9, so they have to get out the rulebook to see if it’s allowed.

Hano – UB – Ray to overshoot – good, a little floppy but better – one short hs – finishes gaint full to double tuck, small hop back. Fine.

Scott – BB – Illinois with a kickover to bhs, just a little check on the kickover but kept moving some I’m sure she’ll get credit into the bhs.

Flatley – UB – UCLA – hits jaeger, a little elbows – bail, small leg break – rushing a cast handstand – DLO, a little short wiht a step. Not her strongest but a hit

Howell – BB – Illinois – bhs whip back, very solid – switch to straddle 1/4, nicely done – switch side, a little crooked

Kocian – UB – UCLA – shap to pak, no trouble, pretty solid finishing position on 1/2 turn on low – FTDT, stuck, her best bars routine in a while

Stuck dismount from Webb on bars for OU as that second rotation gets underway

Marks – Ub – Ou – toe shap to bail, a little short of vertical – better final cast hs on high – FTDT, staggered landing, small step

Ross – UB – UCLA – good first hs – shap to pak, her normal – good shoot to high – DLO – stuck. Her normal. I didn’t see anything to take there.

9.8-a-thon on beam keeps Illinois over 196 pace after two events.

Crouse – FX – Nebraska – 1.5 to layout is nice – switch side to popa, a little bouncy but hit – finishes 1.5 to 1/2 to stretch jump, second 1/2 of the routine very nice.

Dowell a step back on her DLO on bars.

9.975 for Ross. We never got a score for Flatley did we? I respect judge #4’s right to be a party pooper and give Ross a 9.900 on bars.

Lehrmann very clean as always on bars – FTDT, and nearly/basically holds onto the stick?

Nebraska uses the Crouse floor score to move 2 tenths clear of Illinois after two events

The comical difference in vault scoring from meet to meet today. Discuss.

Stupid meets! I missed Nichols on bars Anyway, she got 9.975 so we can assume. 10s from judges 1 and 3, just like Ross

Judging conference on floor about Sofie Seilnacht’s routine. Shout out to Liz’s mood right now!

Oklahoma a casual 49.650 on bars to lead by 80 million tenths

Webb will finish up on beam for NC State – bhs loso series, solid, a bit of knees – switch to split, good extension – a little checky in the second half – 2/1, bounce back –

George – FX – Cal – front tuck through to rudi, bounce back – wonderful extension on dance elements – finishes with a rudi, stuck –

9.875 for George gets Cal back on track on floor. NC State 48.900 on beam, so they’re keeping Cal honest.

Oh don’t worry, it’s just that LSU/Auburn/AZ St/GW is about to start as well!

Bordas – FX – Cal – double pike, collapses a little in the knees – switch 1/2 to wolf full, solid – rudi, hit –

Ohashi is leding off beam for UCLA in the third rotation here. Aerial to bhs loso, comfortable – switch to split, no issue – bhs loso full, stuck. Well that works as a leadoff routine.

Hit 1.5 from Dujakovich on vault for Nebraska, hop to the side

Nguyen – BB – UCLA – switch to split to beat, no trouble – aerial to loso, one of her quicker combinations there, secure – stuck dismount

Clausi – FX – Cal – solid full in, just a bit of legs, good control – front full to front pike, bound-dance forward – really clean front layout position out of final pass. That will help get them over 49. Or not. Just 9.800 for that, which seems low.

De Jesus – VT – Nebraska – hop forward, another hit 1.5

Kocian – BB – UCLA – bhs loso series with a lean correction – aerial to split jump, solid – switch to split, also clean – 1.5 dismount, short with a slide back

Very strong 1.5 from Crouse for Nebraska –

LSU is underway, three hit vaults to start. Cannamela is going in the 4th position instead of Priessman. Big full but lands short with a pace forward.

Houchin just did the most gorgeous stuck 1.5 on vault. Let’s check out the score for that. Or, if the live scores were working, which they never are. 9.975. The difference between that vault and Ross’s was Kyla’s wikipedia page

Flatley – BB – UCLA – aerial to loso, did it – side aerial, nicely done – L turn to split jump to beat, very comfortable – punch front full with hop forward

Edwards comes up shor ton her 1.5 on vault for LSU, two lunges back to save it.

Edney – VT – LSU – small step back on 1.5. They’re a little short on these vaults today, but it will be fine

Ross – BB – UCLA – bhs loso series, nicely done – aerial to sissone, solid and secure – switch to split, strong – side aerial to full, little hop in place. Another good one.

Cal hasn’t quite separated from NC State yet, only about four tenths in that, but you expect that to change in the second half of the meet

Auburn has four hits to start on beam

Illinois keeping up with the 9.8s on floor

Milliet – BB – Auburn – fornt tuck, good – full turn, just a little check heistation – bhs loso series, solidly done –

Secure beam for Trautman to start for Oklahoma

Dennis – BB – UCLA – hits aerial to loso series comfidently – switch to split, no trouble –

Sy Seilnacht – VT – Cla – small hop back on full, good

Sylvia – BB – Auburn – full turn, cat leap to aerial to bhs, elegantly done – hit routine and hit rotation. 49.250 on beam, HUGE for them to get through that with a solid score.

Dowell – BB – OU – aerial to bjs, hit with some knees in bhs –

Jones with just the full on vault for Cal, bounce back

George – VT – Cal – stuck a full – fab. This meet has had higher vault scores than the others, so let’s see where they go with that.

I feel like the only acceptable response to the Oklahoma leo situation today is “I know, but there was an emergency.”

Leonard-Bkaer – FX – ASU – great double tuck, solid position, control – 1.5 to front full, a little too much step out but marry that twisting form –

One of Clausi’s best 1.5s, only a small adjustment on landing. Cal is showing up now.

We just had an aggressive peel off on bars from Maryland, totally taking out a teammate.

Hit 1.5 from Mastrangelo, just a bit short with a step back

UCLA in the clear after that beam rotation. Nebraska with a solid edge going to bars. Illinois goes to vault.

LSU and Auburn are tied after the first rotation, but with ASU and GW under 48, we’re seeind some major separation between the qualifying spots and the others early on.

Fourth rotation getting started in Michigan.

Frazier – FX – UCLA – full in, some of her best landing control on that pass, just a little legs – whip through to double tuck, larger bounce back, keeps it in bounds – double pike it good.

Webb – BB – OU – check on series – aerial is smooth

Orel opens bars for Nebraska with a hit

Hargrove – UB – Nebraska – Ray, hit – stalder, lovely stalder position, pretty pak, short cast 1/2 on low bar – missing a couple hs here but they just need a hit from her and they got it – step back on double tuck.

Nichols – BB – OU – bhs loso series was tight, a little check to the side and some feet – switch to split leap is good – 1.5, stuck, usual legs apart stick

Toronjo – FX – UCLA – cool? double pike, nice, chest down – 1.5 to layout, solid – split leap full to split jump full – double tuck, secure, chest down. Any other season’s lineup.

Tratz – FX – UCLA – full in, comfortably landed – second pass also secure – swithc ring to split leap full, well hit positions – double tuck, a little deep chest and a small slide. Overall solid.

MVC – UB – Nebraska – hits piked jaeger into overshoot – good hs on high – finishes stuck double tuck. Nice.

Crouse – UB – Nebraska weiler 1/2 to massive gienger to overshoot, excellent – solid hs on hish – FTDT, stuck. Nailed it.

Kramer – FX – UCLA – front double full to front pike, good, just a hair short on the front pike landing this time – 1.5 to layout, very clean – switch side to popa, crooked on popa from this angle – rudi to stretch jump, a little wild. Good hit.

Houchin was going great on the bars, DLO a little short with a hop, but Nebraska showed up on bars.

Dennis – FX- UCLA – piked full in to her knee – Not one of her strong ones – front full to front layout, a little shape but solid – nice power in those leaps – double tuck, controlled step back

Oklahoma running away and Cal with a lead of .875 on NC State going to the last rotation there.

If working live scores were even an option, we would know that UCLA and Nebraska are through, but we don’t. Except we do, and they are.

UCLA would win even counting the Dennis score.

Hano – FX – UCLA – DLO, nice chest up, good control – front full to 1/2 to the realization she didn’t really have enough time to do the little run so she only kind of did it and it was hilarious – split leap full to wolf full – double pike, strong routine. UCLA comfortable the whole day.

I understand why Kyla wasn’t on floor, because of resting and whatnot, but after those first three events she could have just burped as her routine and set some manner of personal record for AA performance.

Moving back to LSU –

Milliet – FX – Auburn – front lay to rudi, nice rudi, front lay a little iffy from this angle -very pretty double pike shape, just a little chest down on landing.

Arizona State did get into the 49s in this rotation on vault, but LSU and Auburn remain comfortable.

One more rotation left in Athens –

Stick on the 1.5 dismount from Seilnacht to open bars for Cal. Webb nails front 2/1 on floor for Oklahoma.

A fall first up on beam for Maryland.

AHHHHHH! That was just the most horrible injury to watch for Cerio on floor for Auburn. I hope you weren’t looking. I actually gasped and put my hand over the screen because I think that helps. The only other times I’ve done that was Ait Said on vault at the Olympics and Mao Yi on vault at American Cup.

Meanwhile, good stick dismount from Georgia on bars for Cal.

Jones – UB – Cal – toe shap to pak, legs together, very smooth – 1/2 turn on low, solid vertical position – short final cast hs – FTDT, stuck. Excellent routine. Cal is very strong on bars through these first three routines.

They’ve stopped the meet as they tend to Cerio on floor.

Watterson lovely of course, toe full to double back, hop back. 9.825, the same as the others, tells me about how much dismount judging we’re seeing.

Cal will finish bars with Bordas, nice bit jaeger, close catch with some elbows, good handstands, finishes giant full to a stuck double tuck.

That will finish out the meet for Cal and clinch qualification along with Oklahoma.

They have finally been able to get Sam Cerio onto the gurney.

Brenna needs to score 7.175 on this floor routine for Oklahoma to advance. Unclear if she can do it. Hits the Dowell well – 1.5 to layout, very solid – split leap full to popa, looks strong – layout and front full are both excellent of course

Ella Douglas for Michigan State now has to go on floor after Cerio, she’s kind of all over the place with a fall as we all would be. Good double tuck to finish though.

9.950 for Dowell. I think that beats a 7.175.

Trautman finishing up with a strong DLO – front lay to front full to sissone is ideal – split leap full to popa – double tuck, a bit of a slide.

That means we can now officially say that Oklahoma and Cal are going through from that semifinal.

No upsets yet.

A casual 198.300 for Oklahoma.

With all that, Auburn still has a comfortable lead on Arizona State, Auburn now going to vault.

LSU has a lead after a 49.325 on bars. No Priessman at all today. She restrained a previous bicep problem in training because, as we’ve established, she is currently made only of dreams.

Rotation 3

Desiderio – BB – aerial to sissone, solid – full turn a little iffy – swithc to switch 1/2, position on switch 1/2, into beat jump – cat leap to gainer full, stuck with a lean

Phillips – VT – Auburn – very strong, small slide back on full, good pop –

Krippner – VT – Auburn – stuck full, very nice

Kaitlyn Szafranski is actually getting to compete in this arena.

Dean – BB – LSU – side aerial to bhs, secure, the usual knees – aerial with a check – side aerial to full, stuck with an arm wave

Day – VT – Auburn – 1.5 – slide back, hit

Good Jaeger from Hart on bars for ASU.

Gobourne – VT – Auburn – small hop forward on 1.5, they’ve brought the solid landings on their vaults today. 9.950. Oh dear.

Durante – BB – LSU – aerial to beat, smooth – bhs loso series, no trouble – switch to split 1/4 –

Watson – VT – Auburn – hop back on 1.5, not too big, just came in a little short

Glenn hits her 1.5 too. A little more ragged with a step to the side, but they had five good ones already.

Small lean in series for Edney on beam, otherwise fine – stuck 1.5

Leonard-Baker – UB – ASU – toe shap to bail to piked toe shoot to high, excellent – FTDT, small slide. Great job.

Campbell – BB – LSU – bhs loso series, strong, nice toe extension – aerial to sissone – switch to switch 1/2, small check but solid – 2/1, holds the stick with a little lean

9.925 for Leonard-Baker helps, but ASU is still going to be back 8 tenths going to the final event.

Finnegan – BB – LSU – nice wolf single – bhs loso, solid – switch to switch 1/2, small lean correction – side somi, smoothly done – side aerial to full, slide back. Good. 9.925.

Interesting that LSU just has a .175 edge on Auburn going to the last rotation. Important for Auburn to show that it is closer to LSU than to Arizona State.

Things are once again moving in a specific direction here, so if you need to take a break before the final session from Oregon State begins, you have my permission.

And by that I mean I will be making only the broadest notes for this final rotation from LSU. It’s my version of a break.

It’s Becker into the bars lineup for Auburn in place of Cerio – goes 9.825. That works.

Pretty strong floor routine from Campbell. Some of her best landing control.

9.900 for Krippner on bars keeps pressure on LSU.

Pretty routine from Milliet does the same. LSU is going to need to get the scores from its last three on floor.

It;s another 49.350 for Auburn on bars and a total of 197.075. Auburn’s score in the second semifinal was higher than Utah’s score in the first semifinal.

LSU is exactly as over it as I am and will stop with five on floor, having put up five hits and a 197.200 to win the session. But only just. If this keeps up with LSU, Auburn, and Utah, this could be a solid one tomorrow.

So, no upsets yet. One session to go.

Florida, Oregon State, Stanford, and Iowa.

Iowa was the most impressive performer yesterday, but will need to step it up today to put together a contending score. Stanford will need to hit. Very important first rotation for Stanford to get into the 49.2 zone.

Gymnasts have already moved to their events, so they’re ready for us.

Oregon State and Iowa are BOTH in their athletic tape bondage leos. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.

One simply MUST have Jeremy Miranda stand there and confidently opera clap their warmup vault. Essential.

Rotation 1

Skaggs – VT – UF – bounce back on full, fine

Singley – BB – OSU – split to double stag, hit – loso series, smoothly controlled – kickover front, good – stuck dismount. the start they wanted.

Cole – FX – Stanford – 2.5 to front tuck, solid

Alexander – VT – UF – big full, looked like a pretty controlled landing. Can’t tell because Owen’s butt is in the way but weirdly no one is tweet complaining about that one.

It’s been a long day, I’m basically just going to live blog Owen’s butt from this point out.

Lowery – BB – OSU – bhs loso, small check correction – switch to straddle 1/4 is nice, side aerial, a little feet but solid – stuck 1.5

Hartzler had to go over the other way on a handstand on bars. And then fell lately.

Reed – VT – UF – out of control Y1.5 landing, large bound forward out of shot.

Hoffman – FX – Stanford – front through to rudi, keeps front foot mostly down – strong split position in split full – rudi to slightly crazy double stag. Good routine.

Thomas – VT – UF – lands well short on her 1.5 with a bounce back

Fall third up on beam for Oregon State.

Schoenherr – VT – UF – well someone brought her 1.5 today, only a small stutter on landing. Good one.

Sullivan falls on tkatchev. Iowa counting a bars fall now.

Boren big 1.5 but once again out of control on landing with a hop and then another shuffle.

M Dagen – BB – Oregon St – bhs loso series, solid – switch to switch 1/2, secure, a little short on swithc 1/2 – side aerial to full, stuck.

Love how any hit beam is 9.900. Falls are 9.200. These are the two scores.

Flam – FX – Stanford – good double arabian today – front full to a high front pike, she definitely rose into the second skill, but the full was a little flat – double pike, slide back

Lazaro – BB – OSU – bhs loso, just a little front foot raise on landing but nice extension – switch to split to straddle 3/4, good – side aerial to full, stuck

Lawson with a 1.5 through to double tuck, short with a lunge. Will get hit for split jump full not reaching position. Step back on double pike, looks like she just did keep it in.

Gill – BB – Oregon St – split jump to double stag, small check – aerial, kind of slow in combination into bhs – switch 1/2 to beat jump – gainer full, small hop

Hoang – FX – Stanford – DLO, controlled step back, kept front foot down – split leap 1.5, close enough to around – nice float on front lay to front full – double pike, hit. Stanford on track to be ahead of Florida after this rotation.

Oregon State just went 49.500 on beam you guys.

bryant – FX – Stanford – full in with a bounce back, keeps it in bounds – front tuck through to double pike, stronger control there – ridic power obviously – switch side to popa, switch side a little crooked – open double tuck, very good.

After 1
1. Oregon State 49.500
2. Stanford 49.225
3. Florida 49.075
4. Iowa 48.025

You know, like you predicted.

Florida is fine, the next three rotation are the good ones, but it sure makes it look more exciting this way. If the OSU scores keep going like this on floor, that’s the meet.

Rotation 2

Boren – UB – Florida – hit tkatchev – bail, solid position – takes DLO a little too close to the bar, but fine, step back

Cole good full, only small hop back. Fitzgerald with a larger bounce back.

Davis is leading off floor for Oregon State. Landed her final pass a little too short with a step

Gowey – UB – Florid a- a little too close on her Ray catch but fine – nice pak – DLO, stuck. Pretty finish.

Bryant – VT – Stanford – big full, hop back but pretty controlled on the hop back this week by Bryant’s standards. It wasn’t a bound.

Hundley – UB – Florida – her usual on the shap to pak and shap 1/2, just a little legs, solid – FTDT, stuck with a stagger

Bounce forward for Flam on her Omelianchik

These team prisons really put a damper on the Oregon State team’s jigability during Jacobsen’s floor.

Schoenherr also catches a little too close on her jaeger – otherwise solid – a short handstand before the dismount, stuck but a little too deep in position

Force – FX – Oregon State – double pike, bounce back – finishes double tuck, more control there

Skaggs – UB – Florida – good first hs – tkatchev, nice counter into pak – closer on final cast hs – DLO, floaty, small step back. Fine. Lots of 9.8 work to my eye from Florida here, but it works for today’s purposes.

Thomas – UB – Florid a- shap clear hit to pak – toe on to toe shap 1/2 on low – smooth cast hs on high – DLO with a little bounce in place. Best of the rotation, easily

Singley – FX – OSU – front tuck through to double tuck, nice chest up position – double tuck, bounce back – switch ring to switch 1/2, a little low – punch rudi, a touch underrotated with a hop to the side

49.425 for Florida on bars restores the natural order of things. A .375 advantage on Stanford now.

Lowery – FX – Oregon State – punch front 2/1 and it’s tremendous – 1.5 to layout, very secure landing, some knees – popa is good, not quite there on the split full beforehand – rudi, controlled step. Nicely done.

Fall from Ward-Session on beam

Yanish – FX – OSU – DLO, great, looks like she kept front foot down – front full to front layout, a little low to the floor but secure again – switch side to popa is fine – double tuck, great toes, just a little stutter on landing

After 2:
1. Oregon State 98.750
2. Florida 98.500
3. Stanford 98.125
4 Iowa 97.025

top-2 order restored. Stanford is going to have to bars like it has never barsed before and hope someone else counts a fall.

I don’t know if it is hte same person or different people, but I have just watched three consecutive falls in the same corner of Iowa warming up on floor. SOMEONE CALL BART.

Rotation 3

Oof Madi Dagen just landed a Yufull in a ball shape, but she’s fine. Just deducted presumably. 9.325 tells me her knees touched.

Hundley – BB – UF – aerial to sissone, solid – bhs loso, same – strong switch side – 1.5, stuck

Looks like she’s scoring a MEALS.AHHHHH for that one.

Lawson’s legs were all over the place on bars but she hit

Singley sticks a Yfull. Knees and distance, but great.

Yanish a little chest down with a bounce on vault.

Skaggs hits her wolf – switch to split, loverly – bhs loso series, pretty solid extension, secure landing – cat leap side aerial to full, stuck.

Greene – VT – OSU – handpsring pike 1/2, step back, chest down, fine

Yu a little out of control landing her double tuck

Boren – BB – UF – gainer kickover, hit – bhs loso series, no trouble – switch to straddle – gainer loso – a couple arm waves corrections in here  but no real checks –

Jacobsen with basically a stick on her Tsuk 1/1, hop in place

L dagen – VT – OSU – lunge back on her full, another leg slide back into salute –

Bryant – UB – Stanford – tkatchev to pak, perfect pak – DLO, stuck, excellent routine. Huge.

Gowey solid on bhs loso loso series – aerial and squeezes well to work into sissone – gainer full, bounce back

Rogers anchoring bars for Stanford instead of Flam – gets caught on a giant full and falls.

Thomas – BB – Florida – switch 1/2 to beat jump – bhs loso, excellent extension – aerial is textbook – full turn – 2/1, bounce back. Trinity and these bounces. Will still be a big number.

Baumann – BB – Florida – bhs loso, very small lean adjustment – switch to switch 1/2, wonderfully extended – side aerial, very smooth – stuck 1.5 Perfect second half of that routine.

Kaji finishes floor with slide back on double back

48.950 on bars for Stanford isn’t going to keep up.

Iowa has been out of it since bars. One more floor routine in that rotation, from my new GIF BFF Erin Castle

Castle – FX – Iowa – double pike, secure landing, chest down – wolf jump full to switch side, good extension on switch side, a little short on rotation on wolf – slide back on rudi – 1.5 to layout, solid

Ward-Session FX – open full in awesome, keeps front foot down – 1.5 to front layout, the highest you’ve ever seen – switch side to pike jump shushunova – double pike, only a little bouncy. Good.

Amy is going to fuck you up if you don’t give this a 10.

9.925 for Madison Ward. If Florida and Denver end up being the team qualifiers, she’ll go through to nationals for floor.

After 3
1. FLorida 148.000
2. Oregon State 147.825
3. Stanford 147.075
4. Iowa 146.175

I can’t imagine this changing at this point, but you never know. One rotation left. In our lives.

Rotation 4

Yamaoka – UB – OSU – toe on to toe shap, low in backswing there – bail, legs together, a little angle – short cast hs on high – giant full double tuck, stuck, chest down

Fall on vault first up for Chow of Iowa.

Fitzgerald – BB – Stanford – aerial to back tuck, dine – switch to split, a bit of a pause – switch was quite nice, split a little low – hitch kick to two-foot aerial, hit – 1.5, stuck. Nice work

Jacobsen holds the stick on her double front on bars afor Oregon State

Hit floor from Hundley

Lowery – UB – OSU – shap to pak. nice height on the pak – DLO, flung out a little but holds the stick

Lawson nailes her Arabian on beam

MCP – UB – OSU – high jaeger, some elobws on catch – pretty solid bail, hitting that vertical position – finishes DLO, stuck. very strong ending.

Fall from Stephenson on beam for Stanford in the third spot.

Nice full from Guerin on vault, small hop

Briscoe – Ub – OSU – hit jaeger, cleanly – DLO, small step. Oregon State removing any drama with this bars performance

No lava today fron Castle on vault, comes in short on y1/2 with a step back

9.875 from Briscoe officially eliminates Stanford and Iowa.

Gill finishes on bars for Oregon State  – another lovely hit – DLO, stuck landing.

Boren – FX – Florida – strong DLO, just a little foot adjustment on landing – 1.5 to layout, nice and high as always – switch 1/2 to wolf jump full, a little short on switch 1/2 – double tuck, deepish with a hop to the side.

So once Thomas finishes this next floor routine, we will officially know that the top 16 teams have all advanced to tomorrow. Snorzers.

Hit beam from Tai and Navarro for Stanford.

Thomas – FX – Florida – massive DLO, little bounce out – front full to layout, controls the landing – switch ring to split leap 1.5 – double pike, excellent

Bryant – BB – Stanford – high loso series, secure landing – big leaps as always – punch front, up on her toes but not much of a check – bhs bsh double tuck, lunge back. They didn’t count a fall on beam this time.

Looks like Florida will pull an LSU and scratch Baumann on floor to save for tomorrow.

Stanford does break 196.

Taylor Chan’s beam routine is the final set of the day – beat jump – switch 1/2, large break, leg-up wobble and a bend at the hips – hits side somi with a little lean – bhs loso, step back – switch to split, good 180 – side aerial to full, slide back.

So that will do it.

FINAL
1. Florida 197.500
2. Oregon State 197.125
3. Stanford 196.075
4. Iowa 194.775

All sixteen seeded teams advance to tomorrow, when we’ll find out the 8 making nationals. Should get good.

I’ll post something before tomorrow night’s meets along the lines of “this is what we know now…”

  1. Are the ESPN/SECN meets going to have full coverage tomorrow (whiparound, quad, apparatus feeds) or just more quad-screens?

    1. jk she only held her so she could rest her if they had 5 solid scores. Sighhhhh

  2. so happy that auburn pulled out a strong meet, even after that awful injury to cerio. nothing against utah, but i’m hoping for at least one upset on the road to nationals, and if auburn keeps this up…

  3. I’m a blinded ASU stan, and I fully accept they didn’t put up a strong day today

But YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME CALLIS’S ROUTINE ONLY DESERVED 9.8

  4. Every time these OSU commentators say “the beavs” with this wonky audio I hear “the Biebs” and it’s throwing me for a loop

    1. completely agree. they dont show the douines hag are fimpdkf kf at rhe tom

  5. Florida has always been my team, and the way they looked to start the season I was super stoked. I was waiting for them to out an entire vault lineup together and thought they could have rivaled anyone. They just have so much talent.

BUT, they never managed to get vault together, and IMO have looked weaker on the other events as the season progressed. They better not blow it here!!

They HAVE to do something different in how they are training vault. They have been so strong on vault for a number of years, so this is worrying.

C’mon gator girls! get it together all ready!!

  6. >One rotation left. In our lives.

No. Shouldn’t there also be a Hawaii Regional that starts really late at night and ends just in time for 2nd day Eastern Regionals to start (in the morning!)…A continuous marathon of Regionals with no break between days 1 and 2! 😉

    Would you watch?

  7. Oregon scores are the biggest joke of the entire day. They are my new “bruins”. What the hell are those judges smoking. I thought it was Washington that legalized canibus. .maybe Oregon did too. Anyway you look at it those scores are total crap. why can’t the judges keep it honest at least for the post season

    1. The Corvallis regional scoring was wildly inconsistent on UB. It is crazy to compare the routines from across the day.

    2. Lol weed (“canibus”) is also legal in Oregon you silly loon 😀
agree that those scores seem awfully high but I’d rather an underdog team get the nutty scoring than one of the traditional big dogs

  8. Athens and Michigan were the least cracky scores. Corvallis was a mess. I’m sure the ‘Beavs “ are thrilled to realize that they have improved so much to score that close to UCLA. Unbelievable. I do agree about Trinity. I’m just astounded by the overall scores

  9. What is rotation order for tomorrow? Does highest seed get Olympic order again?

    1. Nope. They somehow decided that the second place team from the evening session gets Olympic order. The second place team from the afternoon session starts on bars, the winner of the evening session starts on beam, and the winner of the afternoon session starts on floor. I think they may have determined the rotation order by a random draw (though I’m not positive on that).

  10. LOL – the Georgia score was cracky in Athens. Least cracky overall I would give to the Baton Rouge regional.

  11. Interesting to note that the 1 and 2 from the afternoon were considerably lower in scores than both 1 and 2 in the evening regionas in all 4
