Live from Worlds – Women’s Subdivision 11

Steingruber session. Kovacs session. We don’t expect Olympic team qualification for these teams, although that would be amazing, so we’re mostly thinking about individual qualification for both of those two.

As well as being on Chuso Watch, which is going to come right down to the end if those two and Savranbasi/Yilmaz best her score during this subdivision. Which is kind of what I’m anticipating. Chuso is totally either going to end up as the last qualifier or the first one out. I mentioned before that we’re thinking it’s going to be 30 spots, but it will be 31 once Japan doesn’t need its host spot.

TEAMS: Hungary, Switzerland
INDIVIDUALS: Gloria Philassides (CYP), Victoria Gilberg (DEN), Victoria Kajoe (DEN), Emilie Winther (DEN), Chan Tsz Sum Elizabeth (HKG), Ng Yan Yin (HKG), Nazli Savranbasi (TUR), Goksu Uctas Sanli (TUR), Tutya Yilmaz (TUR)

Rotation 1

Barloggio – BB – switch mount – sissone to wolf jump – punch front, solid – bhs loso, leg-up check – back tuck, solid – switch, quite low back leg – bigger wobble on a punch front – layout/straddle gainer dismount, secure

Makra – tkatchev, hit – piked jaeger, just a bit of legs – bail, small leg separation – toe shoot – double pike, stuck. Nice

Sanli and Yilmaz hit fulls on vault.

11.733 for Philassides – Savranbasi with a solid handspring front pike 1/2 with a step. She’s my pick to get the spot for Turkey.

13.133 for Makra

Kovacs – UB – full on low bar right to handstand stalder shap 1/2 – toe 1/2 to piked jaeger, just a tad close – Downie to Pak, good – toe shap 1/2 – very short hs on high bar – double tuck, hop back

11.200 for Barloggio.

Siegenthaler – BB – nice candle mount – aerial, some soft knees, but secure – switch – bhs loso loso, pretty solid

14.200 for Kovacs. Damn

Schermann – UB -toe Shap to pak, clean – toe on to inbar to toe shoot – inbar 1/2 to piked jaeger, very nice – double pike, holds the stick. Another nice one. Bars is definitely Hungary’s best event, but that was also a very strong group of three routines.

11.933 for Siengenthaler

Boczogo – UB – full to toe shap to pak to toe on 1/2 to toe shoot, less amplitude than her teammates, getting a little low, piked jaeger is nice though – short hs on 1/2 turn on high, gets way close on doubel pike and falls.

Steingruber – BB – aerial – punch front, solid – bhs loso, step back, check – front pike, very secure – switch to side somi – switch 1/2 – sissone to wolf jump – gainer pike full, step. For Steingruber, a very solid beam showing.

When there’s only beam going on, they’re picking such funereal music to play.

12.766 is a solid beam score for Steingruber.

41.299 for Hungary on bars. Competitive.

Kaeslin – BB – switch – bhs bhs loso, lovely toe point in the loso, very solid – onodi, right on – kochetkova, good – split ring leap a little two-part but secure – y spin, no trouble – aerial, small check – split to wolf – side aerial – round off back full, some piking, bounce back.

12.466 for Kaeslin feels low. 37.165 for Switzerland’s rotation.

Rotation 2

Barloggio – FX – just bouncing around log rolling to start her routine – double tuck, a little short

Boczogo – BB – aerial to bhs is good, but a large break on a leap sends her to the mat – finishes double pike, short with a step

Uctas Sanli is having to do bars and she’s like BYE – dismounts double pike with a step. 10.8000

12.066 for Barloggio.

Kaeslin – FX – double Y, I’d give it – double pike, solid, small slide – 2/1 bounce back and OOB – double L is borderline – 12.466

Hit bars for Yilmaz

Makra falls on beam. There it goes for Hungary.

11.966 on bars for Yilmaz

Steingruber – FX – split leap 1.5 – DLO 1/1, a jarring landing with a bounce back – DLO, small side – double tuck, bounce back – double pike, stuck, awesome, though the first pass is going to hurt the score –

Schermann has a wobble burger but get the first beam hit to Hungary.

Steingruber 13.400, no floor final.

Siegenthaler – Memmel turn, drops a little early and nearly went OOB on it – double back – switch ring, split ring – 1.5 to layout, has to tuck the layout quite abit to get it around – 2/1, step back, OOB –

Kovacs – BB – side aerial to jump combination, solid – split leap to aerial to straddle, well connected – bhs loso and falls – side somi – double tuck, lunge back

Steingruber inquiry.

Hit double front on bars from Savranbasi, step forward. 12.633

Everyone from Hungary got an 11 for the lowest beam score fo the competition.

Another inquiry accepted, Steingruber goes up to 13.500.

Rotation 3

Kaeslin – VT – good full, small hop in place

Uctas – BB – solid leaps – bhs loso, very secure, some back leg – has to grab the beam on a side jump – aerial, steps back to save it – side aerial, small lean – front full, stuck

Steingruber – VT1 – huge rudi, great flight, bounce/slide back, just a little bit of piking, nice –

11.933 for Uctas on beam

Kovacs – FX – popa, nice – DLO, good, just a little chest down – 2.5 to front tuck, well OOB – really rushed her way through a split leap full, well short – double tuck, chest down but stuck

Steingruber hits her DTY second vault, not as strong as in PT, but still a hit –

Siengenthaler does a Ylayout after Steingruber and everyone is like. Oh.

Steingruber in just 7th on vault now after the DTY

Schermann – FX – DLO punch front, very solid landing – 3/1, super deep knee landing but pulls it out – double tuck, good, this is a solid routine with potential – front tuck through to 2/1, bounce back

Boczogo – FX – DLO, just pikes it down at the end to get it, but nice overall – double Y spin – double front, shuffle forward, keeps it in bounds – split ring – just a layout full to split jump third pass – double pike, little shuffle. 12.866

Yilmaz – BB – bhs layout full attempt and falls, no chance – switch to split to back tuck with a check – split 1/2 from side, nice – full turn – split to side aerial, check – switch 1/2 and falls again – double pike, step

10.500

Savranbasi – BB – hits front tuck mount – switch to split, feet and a check – lone back tuck, solid – bhs loso, smoothly done – wolf double and it’s a little rough and stood up – split jump 1/2 from side, back foot – side aerial, nice – punch rudi, step back

Unless something crazy happens, Savranbasi should get the spot for Turkey, Steingruber should get the spot for Switzerland, and even though Kovacs is only a little ahead of Schermann, vault favors Kovacs.

Rotation 4

Barloggio – UB – piked jaeger, hit – Ray, low but hit – clear hip toe toe shoot on low – tkatchev – double pike, short with a hop. 12.866 is a strong score.

Bounce back on full from Boczogo.

Small hop back on full for Schermann

Siegenthaler – UB – clear hip to stalder – piked jaeger, close catch – pak is pretty – stalder shoot – jaeger, just a touch close on this one – giant full – DLO, hop forward

Hit DTY for Kovacs, which will confirm her Olympic spot.

Peter appears just for vault and hits a big DTY with a bounce back

Steingruber – UB – clear hip to van leeuwen – toe full to high gienger, close catch with legs apart – pak is way too close, can’t cast out of it, and then does at exactly horizontal – maloney – double front – step back

Peter goes for the rudi as her second vault, it’s quite deep and borderline brush with the mat on landing.

Hungary is done and in 15th place, which means Belgium makes the Olympics.

Big tkatchev fro Kaselin – clear hip – toe full to bail, legs, some piking in the toe full – stalder shoot – double pike, short with a shudder forward – small cat was stepped on in the crowd during her dismount apparently.

Savranbasi – FX – nice double arabian, small hop – front lay to front full, hop – double pike, two small shuffles back – switch – split leap full – wolf turn double was under, I’d say single – double tuck, shortish, small hop. She had a good day.

Switzerland moves ahead of Hungary by a tenth for 15th place.

Yilmaz – FX – double tuck with bounce back – front tuck through to 2/1 – pike jump full – wolf double, falls to her hand hilariously (Paseka style, which I’m specifically noting for easy control F when I need to make a gif later)

12.333

Uctas – FX – lovely double L turn – double pike, bounce back – 1.5 to front full, tucks the full and a lunge forward – double tuck, bounce back –

  1. Anybody know where the stream is for this session? Can’t find it on NBC.

  2. 40.307 is the average needed on eack event to pass Japan.
After BB SUI is way off the mark, but they do have FX and VT to make up ground, especially with Steingruber’s strong scores.
Hungary already above that average after UB and their UB score was higher than JPN. If they can survive BB it is going to be really close.

    1. Reading this comment after Hungary has already finished beam is both sad and funny.

      1. Yeah, looking at FX and VT they could have knocked out JPN had they not had that disaster BB rotation. I think they will finish 24 out of 24 on BB (just BRA and USA to go)

    1. And possibly no Moors.

Derwael in the floor final is everything that is wrong with WAG today.

      1. Well, it’s certainly one thing that’s wrong with it.

Even if I was like “let’s watch beautifully performed, lower-difficulty routines” I still wouldn’t have picked hers. That E-score looks like a typo.

      2. She did ok for L9 Westerns.

I could have accepted the score if she had stuck her passes…

      3. Exactly…she is not the example I would hold up for beautiful form. I do not understand why she gets such high E scores.

      4. @Anonymous Pretty much. Notice her ‘toepoint’ ain’t much better on floor than on bars?

      5. Derwael’s E-score on FX was the highest of the competition. It’s at least 3 or 4 tenths too high.

      6. @shamrockstar81 From your lips. ugggggh, that ‘difficulty level’–Level 9 is too generous a classification.

  3. Daiane dos Santos and Diego Hypolito are doing the commentary for brazilian tv. Both are so bland haha. Already waiting for how they will talk for USA and Brazil…
