This week, we had zero 10s. Are the judges…chilling? (I do say the silliest things sometimes.) For the top scores of week 2, I’m looking at the routines that got a 10 from one judge, or a consensus 9.950 from both judges. Have at it.

The judges had a 10/9.85 split on the Anastasia Webb vault??? I’ve never sat in a judge’s seat, but that was a pretty obvious hop, and I’m not sure how you could miss that, regardless of your viewpoint. Is there any explanation?
And I say this as someone that thinks Anastasia Webb is a great gymnast.
How could a judge possibly throw a 10 for that Anastasia Webb vault. A fabulous vault, and I think the score ended up evening out (9.925- 9.850/10.00 split- Wow!), but there was a clear lack of control on that landing. Very strange score in my opinion.
9.9 max for Webb’s vault. It wasn’t just a hop in place, she hopped to the side. Not sure if there was another 0.05 to take off, so a 9.9 would have been fair for that vault. But it couldn’t possibly have been any higher…
I think another Iowa gymnast scored 9.925 on FX. Clair Kaji maybe?
He is only putting 9.925s if they got a 10 from at least one judge. It kind of operates as both a hall of fame for good gymnastics and sometimes a hall of shame for bad judging.
Minnesota getting Carol on her side early this season. Nice to see them ranked 4th, but not sure that is based on performance.
Personally, I thought they looked better than Oklahoma did this week and the two teams ended up with the same score. So make of that what you will.
I did think a couple of the scores seemed a bit generous at Minnesota, but no more so than your typical SEC meet. Minnesota usually has harsh home judging, so I feel like it’s finally their turn to get some of the benefit of the doubt.
Show me the deduction in Ramler’s beam. 9.975 was not high enough. No Carol in effect there
I didn’t realize that Minnesota’s entire team is Lexy Ramler’s BB set. LMAO.
You could argue that after her acro series she had to swing her arms back really quick to stay stable and didn’t have 100% control, but tbh I think that’s nitpicking (and I doubt you’d have seen it in real time) and she should have got the 10! Lovely routine.
A 10.0 from one judge for Haleigh Bryant’s routine… smh. Not only was her second jump in her dance passage completely underrotated, she had a rough step out of her front double full. How can these judges not get penalized for not doing their jobs?? I don’t get how this behavior happens every week!
