  1. Finally get to watch an Oklahoma meet live….Wish I could have seen more of Iowa this year. They were a delight the one time I got to see them. But I’ll get to see a lot of Cal this weekend. I’m sure they’ll rest people and be strategic.

  2. A little more back to normal scoring for Cal at Washington. Am not watching so can’t tell if bar routines were similar to last weekend.

    1. They were not quite as perfect in the handstands, but scoring seemed stricter with one judge in particular – the camera would sometimes cut back from vault to the judge on the left showing a 9.9 or higher, and the average would come up much lower. The results page was not showing the split as it sometimes does.

    2. I saw both rotations and they were similar but today everything was just not as crisp. Missed some handstands, didn’t stick all their landings (and had a fall from Waterson). They still did well but definitely not as well as last weekend (regardless of scoring).

      1. Yeah, agreed. Scored under last meet’s regime, this one would have been around 197.5 I think, which is just a couple tenths more than what they scored today. Most of them on bars had a weird last snap up to handstand today where the line never quite got to vertical.

  3. Ummm. Cal-WA meet gave me five ‘free’ minutes and then wanted $$$$$$$$$$. WTF, Spencer?

    1. Did you deactivate your ad blockers? Worked no issues for me after deactivating the ad blockers. So it’s not Spencer’s fault. You didn’t do something on your end.

      1. Yes, CUNT, I deactivated my ad blockers. Nice ASSumptions and stupidity on YOUR PART. This problem may not be Spencer’s fault but he needs to know about it. Your ‘end,’ darling, produces nothing but excreta. Fuck off and die.

      2. Well, you can comment here all you want, but if you think “Spencer needs to know about it” that’s not going to do you any good since he doesn’t read these comments. And I think that your comment is the perfect example of why he has chosen to peace out.

    2. @Anonymous Spencer said several years ago that he did not read comments any more. Are you in constant touch with him and privy to his every change of mind? Does he update you weekly? LMAO! I think your comment is the perfect example of a commenter so stupid that it does not even realize the depth of its cluelessness–and, of course, so stupid it can’t mind its own business either. 😀

      1. Well, he doesn’t ever respond or address comments, so the evidence would suggest that his policy is still in place.

Also, if you’re worried about people staying out of your business, maybe don’t comment about it?

      2. @Anonymous at 3:56 Wow, you’re a real loser with absolutely zero talent for insult. I do hope you not only have no crotchfruit but have been strictly quarantined since COVID so that adults aren’t subjected to you.

    3. @Hannah Your ASSumptions would suggest, sweetie pie. That’s all. Nothing says Spencer would necessarily comment were he reading these, nor is it at all likely that you read every comment section on every post he ever makes. Logic is hard, honey; why don’t you finish that GED for starters before embarrassing yourself further and again?
Also, maybe STFU and allow some doubt about your imbecility rather than posting and removing all doubt?

      1. Wow, here’s a real, intelligent educated person. I hope you don’t have kids that you’re trying to set an example for.

  4. No, sweetie pie, your ASSumptions suggest. That’s all. Nothing says Spencer would have to comment were he reading these, nor do you read every comment section of every post he ever makes. Logic is hard, honey: why don’t you finish the GED before mortifying yourself again? Better yet, why not STFU and leave some uncertainty about your imbecility rather than posting and removing all doubt? 😀

    1. Just making an observation. I’m told that’s an important part of education, not that I would know, right? No need for hostility. Also, I liked your first draft better. But thanks for the advice, I guess. It will give me something to ponder throughout the day tomorrow, since I obviously have nothing better to do.

      1. @Hannah Since you obviously have nothing better to do than troll comment sections, yes, your last statement is probably true.
Just FYI? Mindless ‘observations’ don’t actually do a whole lot to further erudition, but you do you, hon.
I shouldn’t expect you to comprehend this, but sometimes WordPress etc have software glitches and fail to post responses. So sorry to have fried your tiny mind with this information.

    2. Someone call the garbage man to take out the TRASH. Maybe then you can get a life.

  5. Yes. Really liked Hutchinson’s Shap and Pak. She has nice swing. Hadn’t seen her before.

  6. You know what, 4:42 Anon? You’re right. I was extremely bored tonight and decided to engage on this blog where I almost always remain a spectator. Apparently that was a mistake. Silly of me to expect civil discourse amongst gym fans. I was not aware that your buttons were so easy to push. Most of us are here because we love the sport, not because we are striving to be the most insulting troll or get in the last word. I’m not sure what you hope to achieve by leaving such comments, but I hope you found it tonight.

    1. @Hannah You know what? If you had even a modicum of social skills or manners, civil discourse would be a breeze. But, no, troll that you are, you went instantly on the attack–just like the cretin whose opening was ‘you fucked up’ rather than ‘did you try so and so? It worked for me…’ Please don’t pretend , given your rudeness, to speak for most of the posters on this board–or to think your pious attempts at pontification impress ‘us.’

      1. Hannah speaks for MOST of us on this board who are tired of the same disrespectful and sad troll whose main source of entertainment is to be a straight up low life on here.

No one said “you fucked up” that poster said “you did something wrong on your end”, which is true.
Instead original post troll stated Spencer fucked up, which was clearly not the case. If it is working for everybody BUT you, YOU are the problem, not someone else. The audacity to think that because something is not working for you that it is someone else’s fault.

No gratitude for the hours that Spencer puts into this wonderful site that we all benefit from free of charge.
It’s ungrateful and rude. But then again I am not surprised at the lack of class since the C word was used.

      2. Sally–I’ve read this board since Spencer started it. I rarely comment because of people like you and several others. You all seem to enjoy piling on and virtue signaling while you do it. The OP didn’t blame Spencer for the glitch, they said ‘WTF’? I’ve seen lots of posts here say similar things without someone deciding they had to be obnoxious in their response to it. The OP went a little crazy but they were attacked for no reason. You have no possible way to know whether that stream worked for ‘everyone else’ just because one person said it worked for them. You also have no idea whether the original Anonymous poster is grateful to Spencer or not. I’m totally grateful to Spencer myself but I think if he still refuses to read comments it’s because of people like you.
        You don’t speak for me.

    2. @Sally That’s a pitiful attempt and double fail at trying to speak for the entire board AND to whitewash the ugly little Mean Girl attempt at a response from original troll responder which started this. Bitchy responses to light, offhand, factual comments get bitchy replies, honey. What part of ‘play stupid games, win STUPID prizes’ can’t you manage to understand? Neither you *nor* Hannah ‘speak for most of us on this board,’ nor are your asinine presumptions about why a piece of computer software does not function for me anything but evidence of your utter stupidity with technology. And, in conclusion, unless Nia’s Weave, you, and Hannah are all the same idiotic, tedious, ignorant cunt–which word is used completely accurately and with more class than any of you deserve–which is eminently possible and in fact seems likely, there are at least three disrespectful, sad, rude trolls on this board. Those would be you. 😀

      1. Keep being the TRASH that you are.
It makes it easier to spot you in a seas of Anonymous.
Nope. Not Hannah or Nia’s Weave.

YOU are the troll, other people are just calling you out on it.

All big and bad of you to call me cunt when you are hiding behind the safety of your screen. Do you call you mother that word to or just free load in her basement? You wouldn’t DARE say it to my face.

Scaredy cat hiding behind anonymity. Coward.

      2. Stupid bitch. The only thing more egregious than your self-righteous cuntitude is your ignorance. As if most people use their real names online. As if ‘Sally’ is your real name. As if you aren’t the ultimate little princess Mean Girl wannabe hiding behind a phone or a screen. As if you know anything about other posters in a comment section whom you have never met. Your reliance on the weariest, tiredest, most juvenile cliches which were dead twenty years ago (‘mother’s basement?’ Bitch, is that your very best shot? *roaring with laughter*) is ludicrous; your grammar is arguably even worse, and your illogic beggars the mind. Let me say again, sweetie pie, so perhaps it can penetrate your gooey little decaying Twinkie of a brain: I never blamed Spencer for the stream’s failure. That, like the complete lie that it worked for everyone else on earth who tried it, is all your ASSumption.
It’s true that I insult cunts by calling you one; you lack all warmth, all depth, and all utility. I assure you, however, that nothing would give me greater pleasure than to call you exactly what you are to your face–and cunt would be only the opening salvo. C’est la guerre, cherie (That’s French. Look it up, hon. LOL)

    3. Sorry Elena.

      You are wrong here.
This piece of trash has been trolling for too long and loves to hide, doesn’t even have the courage to use his/her name.

It worked for myself, the other poster, Spencer himself, and several others that were able to watch the meet (there are severals NCAA message boards not just this blog.)
So, it didn’t work for one person then it must be Spencer’s fault, as implied by the tone of the post.

Tolerating the trolls make you just as bad as them or actually, even worse, since you condone such behavior.

If you read the board since the beginning then you will know I have been here the same amount of time as you. There is one particular troll who decides to be nasty to everyone, or as you called it, “a little crazy”. I don’t tolerate it and others don’t either.

      1. Sorry, Sally. You doubling and tripling down on being wrong has the same effect that Republicans have when they do it. You have the same disregard for fact and the same fake narrative. So if the stream worked for five people it worked for everyone on earth? I don’t think so.
Your attempted criticism of me means nothing; you have no idea of the embarrassment you make of yourself.
It seems that tolerating *you* is the actual problem and bad act.

  7. The majority of the 9.875 and above scores in the BYU/Denver meet were total fiction with the exception o L Brown who is exceptional. I don’t know who was judging but the details were simply not there for scores like that. I guess leg separation and slow connections as well as split leg landings didn’t matter. One of the 9.9 Denver floor routines was all over the place and Rollins at 9.9 on beam for BYU was sloppy and had foot movement in the dismount. I’m all for a happy senior night but this meet was genuinely Caroled from start to finish Reality has to hit somewhere. Most egregious was Helody Cyrene on bars. No way was that anywhere near Natalie W/ Michigan; half of the Cal team; Mailie O’Keefe; and so many others. The scores were an embarrassment. That said. miss Brown is a star

    1. Brown was superb! It was a joy to watch her. You got THAT right about the scoring though, mostly for BYU ugh. BYU’s beam 9.9s were ridiculous and some of their floor scores too.

    2. I haven’t seen this meet yet, but I’m not surprised. BYU is always way overscored at home.

  9. I think there is some unspoken word amongst the 197ers in the top 18 to continue to score each other generously. Denver got a nice gift on the road to allow them to count a 197.375 into NQS and drop a 196.600.
BYU benefits because they get to add a 197.300 and drop a 196.925 home score in NQS.

It is what all the team haves to do in order to secure their places in the top 18, especially when everyone seems to be generously scoring this year.

Look at Iowa, they have not had any meet where they were generously scored and they dropped from top 8 in the country at one point and are in 19th once the NQS hit.

With the season coming to the end, teams are going to be going on defense of their rankings.

BYU wants to hold onto that Utah regional against Michigan, Utah, and Kentucky as it is the easiest of the four regionals right now.
Denver is desperate to get out of the death regional that is LSU, Cal, UCLA.

    1. NCAA 👏🏻 gymnastics 👏🏻 is 👏🏻 not 👏🏻 a 👏🏻 sport

      1. So then why are you here?

Clapping emoji. Please. Like your opinion counts or matters.

        Hint: It doesn’t.

Stop making statement that are just your personal opinion.

      2. It’s a lovely exhibition of athleticism and talent, and I dream of the day some rules and professionalism are applied to its administration.

  10. Even if you look at Spencer’s column on the “top scores” of the week ….there were 56 (!!!) With 9.95 and above so it makes the column topic kind of moot . 9.9 is the new 9.8 …..”no fall = 9.9″ … never mind form breaks, bends at the waist, leg separations etc…in the past, a 9.9 and above was a really special routine but now , in a meet like the Denver/BYU meet when 9.9+ are the majority of the scores, you look at the meet with suspicious eyes…. they were ALL near perfect, sure…

  11. I know it would maybe make the math hard but should there be a quarter tenth deduction? Seriously, maybe judges would then take deductions for things like flexed feet. I think the vault was mostly fairly scored at BYU/Denver. I really hate tucked vaults as I’m not quite sure if the athlete intends to have straight or bent legs because the tucks really aren’t tucked. Same for beam dismounts. I’m not sure if there was a tucked vault last night but one Denver gymnast had some legs that were either half tucked or half straight. College Gym News will also live blog meets so I can check that. The bloggers there always call out messy legs – which many gymnasts seem to have on bars.
