In the first meet, Oklahoma is looking for anything better than 197.800, which would allow them to take sole possession of first place and bump Florida to second. This is Iowa State’s second competition of the weekend, and after a non-counting score earlier, they’re looking for something in the 196s to count, though they’re in a pretty safe ranking spot, so it’s not a huge deal.

Oklahoma 49.450 for a strong bars performance. Really good landings this week with a number of sticks. Pretty much an accurate total score to me, even though I feel like some of those scores should be switched. Like, those were the right scores, you just assigned them to the wrong people.
Iowa State not quite as strong on vault as we saw earlier in the week—one fewer Y1.5 today and not as much landing control on some of the other Y1.5s—but still a nationally competitive vault performance that keeps them over 196 pace.

OU would need to go over 49.650 on beam for this to be a counting score, so not that likely.

OU 49.325 on beam for a total of 197.475, which is like what peasants score and won’t count for them. That means Florida and Oklahoma will remain tied in Monday’s rankings,a nd the edge shifts to Florida, which has the lower score to drop at conference champs.
De Jesus gets a 9.900 (BUT TEH SCORES ARE SO LOW) which puts ISU on a season high 196.825, which will move them ahead of Missouri in the rankings.
Elsewhere, in the in-progress rankings, West Virginia currently sits in 38th, so it’s getting to be crunch time. WVU needs to drop a 195.175 with today’s performance, and drop it by a lot. So these 48.9s in the first rotations are keeping them on track to do that.
I haven’t seen a link to live scores for Stanford. I don’t know what I expected.

Some score implications in these final two meets of the day. Cal is eager to go 197.200, which would put them ahead of Utah as the top-ranked team at the Pac-12 Championship. Washington is trying to make the latest of late pushes for a regionals spot after that 196.5 mid-week and needs to do something like that again to make it semi-realistic. Washington already has to count a 195.000, which is low for regionals, so needs another 196 to balance that out.
Nebraska is currently sitting at 38th in the in-progress standings after today’s results and needs to go 196.000+ to get back into the top 36 for Monday’s rankings. Iowa is safe in 20th right now, but that’s still a little blah for how well this season has gone, so Iowa would really like a high 196 or a 197 to make some ground back up.

It started disasterously for Iowa but they pulled it back with those middle of the lineup routines to get a solid bars number. Nebraska gets itself over 196 pace with those vault scores. That’s a season-high vault number for them.

Watterson – BB – Cal – wolf double, smooth – bhs loso series, huge break but keeps it on the beam, somehow, Australian witchcraft – large leg-up check – switch to split leap, nice – cat leap to side aerial to full, bounce back.
Cal struggles on the last couple beam routines but still gets out with a rotation score over 49 so won’t need to do too much on floor to get to that 197.2 mark.
Cunningham – FX – UW – fron ttuck through to double tuck, smoothly under control, chest just a bit down – switch 1/2 to wolf full to wolf full, very precise combo – double pike, strong work. Should get them over 49 for floor.
Perea beam exhibition – wolf double, slight hestiation but fine – aerial with a check, breaks connection into back pike – throws her tuck full and it’s very strong – switch to split to beat, just a bit tight in position – side somi to back tuck full dismount is also quite good.
A full-twisting back tuck on beam in your exhibition routine. But, she didn’t have an acro series in that routine that would get credit, so until she has one that isn’t so scary, it’s not worth putting that in the lineup. Have we considered like full-twisting back tuck to swingdown or something?

So Iowa counts a fall on beam and still gets 48.925 there for a 196.825 total, which ends up being the high 196 they wanted. Oh and a season high. While counting a fall. Shows what could have happen had they been given crack judging all season long.
The 9.500 from Danielle Press has to count, so Nebraska goes 48.775 on floor. Still gets that 196.100 though.
So the theme of that one was disasters where they still got the scores they needed. Nebraska goes up into 35th now, .025 ahead of 37th West Virginia

George – FX – Cal – front 2/1 to front tuck, nice – switch ring to split leap full, super high, clearly compelted – rudi, stuck landing – excellent. That was better than Li’s 9.950 to keep an eye out.
Liz’s face says, “I could kill someone with the sparkles on this mask, so consider that before you give this not a 10.”
9.975 with a 10 from one judge. So she only has to do one murder.
Russon – BB – Washington – aerial, short but works through it to beat jump in combination – bhs loso series, small lean – switch to split full, nearly pulls it around – 1.5, step forward.
Schank – FX – Cal – double tuck, hit, slide back – double pike, controls the step back – switch side to popa to popa, the completion of those elements has long been her white whale on this routine, and while she overturned the switch side, they were basically there – 1.5 to layout, nice.
9.875 for Schank, 49.575 on floor for Cal, which is a new team record on that event, and 197.600 team total is the third-highest in Cal’s history. Also Iowa’s was their 4th-best ever, with a counting fall.
So Washington goes 196.025, which will put them in 39th. It’s still an outside chance, but the dream has been resuscitated.
Cal’s 197.600 gives them an NQS of 197.575 and will have them at 5th in next week’s rankings as Utah drops to 6th, Cal will be #1 in the conference.
