The full and complete scores may be found here, but I’ll be tracking the major results throughout the weekend and including them here as they come in, along with what you need to know for future NCAA purposes. (Verbally committed seniors are noted with their school and the year of their first competition season, not year of academic entry, because we don’t care about that book-lerning nunsense.)

9.900 (1) |

Blakely achieved the rare sweep, winning all four events en route to the title. She’s in the Florida class with Morgan Hurd, Riley McCusker, and Leanne Wong that justifiably has Florida as the odds-on favorite to win next season, and her significance as the “I’ve stepped back from elite” of the group will be extreme.

Theodorou has enjoyed a big year at L10, following up a 2nd-place performance at the Nastia Cup with another 2nd-place performance at nationals, improving her total by two tenths thanks to vault and floor.

9.400 (16) |

Nice to see a big floor result for the future Sooner as floor proved to be the event last season that strained the most to be competitive amidst the injuries.

An even all-around performance here that should provide multiple options for Alabama in a new class that isn’t quite as deep or NAME-filled as some of the teams Alabama will expect to score with.

The former GAGE athlete is heading to UCLA next season in a similar position to Sloane Blakely at Florida as “the one who doesn’t do elite anymore,” which I expect to be a vital status among the Jordan Chiles, Brooklyn Moors, Ana Padurariu, Emma Malabuyo, Emily Lee festival of athletes currently trying to make an intense elite push.

A get for Eastern Michigan, someone who has really come on in the last year and looks like she should be an easy AA contributor for them.

A double-Loyim moment here as they nearly came up with the same AA score, though Hannah got it with the floor number. The Loyim twins are not heading to the same school, with Hannah going to Iowa State and Emma bringing that bars talent to Boise State. Expect to see a lot of both of them.

Ohio State’s 2022 class fully nailed this competition with Grimes and Hlavach here in this session and Vetter placing well in the all-around in Senior E. Lots of complementary strengths here and what looks like a whole barrel of lineup routines.

Michigan State with a winner here, currently tied for the 2nd-best senior AA score across the sessions. Michigan State had some moments before the canceled season and should be stronger next year with this extra L10 all-arounder added to the mix.

9.800 (2) |
9.575 (2) |

A very encouraging session for Arizona here in Senior E, with Fears and Mueller both placing in the top 10 with a number of competitive scores, including a bars victory here from Fears which will be much welcomed to a lineup that was a little raw and ragged in 2021.

9.575 (15) |
9.100 (39) |

Johnson is entering in the class with Aleah Finnegan and Tori Tatum, and was an elite herself along with them four a quarter of a second in 2017 and 2018.
16 | Mya Lauzon | Cal 2022 | 9.825 (1) |

Looks like a bars miss stopped Lauzon from what would otherwise have been a top-3 all-around finish here with strong results on the other three events. Cal isn’t exactly parched for more bars routines right now anyway.

SENIOR D – Top 10 AA & Notables

9.825 (3) |
9.900 (1) |
9.475 (3) |
9.700 (12) |
38.900 |
Dekanoidze has been one of the stars of this age group since the junior days and has long been committed to UNC, very much looking for an extra star to pair with Culton to pull themselves out of the almost-regionals doldrums. UNC also has Fink in this session, who joined Dekanoidze in the top 5 on vault.
2 | Jocelyn Moore | Missouri 2022 |
9.950 (1) |
9.700 (3) |
9.350 (11) |
9.750 (8) |
38.750 |
A 9.950 at L10 Nationals on vault is no joke. A huge session here for Missouri’s class next year, which also includes Alonna Kratzer, whom we’ll see at Classic next weekend.
2 | Leah Smith | Washington 2022 |
9.725 (9) |
9.725 (2) |
9.400 (8) |
9.900 (1) |
38.750 |
Coming off her victory at the Nastia Cup this year, Smith was probably favored to win this session, but I guess we’ll allow a second place somehow. After Washington’s weak season in 2021, the accomplishment level of next year’s class won’t allow for the same kind of results to pass by without consequence in a non-COVID season.
4 | Danielle Sievers | Oklahoma 2022 | 9.750 (5) |
9.525 (15) |
9.500 (2) |
9.850 (3) |
38.625 |
Sievers is joining Oklahoma next season in the class with Jordan Bowers and Moorea Linker, and it will be interesting to compare Oklahoma’s progress to Florida’s in 2022 as Florida is getting THE NAMES and Oklahoma is getting some of the top L10s (and Bowers, though Bowers has been out of elite for a while). Sievers is the younger sister of Meaghan from Iowa State, so the Sieverses are sort of mapping out that KJ Life of Iowa State-to-Oklahoma.
5 | Amari Celestine | Missouri 2022 |
9.725 (9) |
9.650 (4) |
9.300 (17) |

Celestine joins Moore in that Missouri class, and expect a lot of lineup turnover next season because there are a bunch of very realistic events coming from a bunch of the freshies.

9.475 (18) |
9.450 (4) |
9.775 (5) |

Another Missouri making a mark in this group, although Lawrence is slated to enter a year later than the other two who excelled here. Missouri is cleaning up the L10s.

Vides spent a second as a senior elite in 2019, and is now the name among the national champion’s new class. I’m very interested to see how she fits in among lineups that don’t exactly need a ton of reworking for next season.

Penn State is quietly having a nice L10 Nationals, and after the lower vault scores in 2021 that tended to blunt the teams scoring potential even on good bars days, that 9.875 is looming…huge.

Scanlon is among the recognizable names in this session, having competed as an elite since the early 60s and making a mark as a junior there all the way back to the previous quad. Looks like bars brought her down here. |

UCLA’s next couple classes are almost entirely elites (and Selena Harris was herself an elite for a couple years at the beginning of the quad before going back to L10), so it will be important to have L10 stars like Harris as well who can Chae Campbell around as needed.

We don’t really know how scholarship counts and returnings are going to play out in the next couple seasons with everyone getting a pass on 2021, but the general expectation is going to be a mass exodus of great gymnasts after the 2022 season, so the teams that have successful L10 AAers coming in for 2023 should have an edge.

Actually, LSU’s Caitlin Smith medically retired a few weeks ago.
Under Sarah Moraw…. of course there are less verbals. Covid happened.
The bigger shift is that they changed the recruiting rules a few years ago…the high school class of 2021 was the last one with a significant number of “fetus verbals” and they’re concentrated in Senior D/E/F.
Yes, definitely, but the blackout period affected it a lot too, for those gymnasts who may not have previously been in the upper echelon of L10.
Alea Byrne is committed to Illinois. Also, Madison Ulrich is committed to Denver
Sarah Moraw is committed to Minnesota.
Also, Samantha Nickle is committed to NIU, so she’d be NIU 2023.
Oh and Sarah Krump is apparently committed to Utah.
Bella Minervini is committed to Towson for the 2023 season.
Nastia Rudnitskaya has changed her commit from ISU to Kent State!
