Today, the Pac-12 takes over. It starts with UCLA visiting Stanford (with at least half an eye on Minnesota’s meet as well), where UCLA will be looking to confirm that yes, the team can actually nastics. Stanford, meanwhile, started the season more impressively than expected but is in danger of stagnating in the lower 196s, which is not necessarily the safe score it used to be, so will be looking to use the opportunity of “ahhhh it’s UCLA 10.0000000” coming to town to lift that score into the heartier portion of the 196s.

Speaking of scores, yesterday’s slate yielded us merely two 10.000s, with only seven other routines receiving a 10 from one judge, like you’re not TRYING or something. I don’t even think I KNOW you anymore.

Brooklyn Moors is out of the lineups for UCLA today. Sekai Wright is slated to come back in on vault. Malabuyo, Flatley, Campbell, and Chiles in the AA.

UCLA/Stanford is streaming on Pac-12 Insider (all the links on the links post), which initially tried to tell me that my cable subscription did not support this channel (incorrect), but then I logged out and now it’s fine with me and I can watch. Which makes a ton of sense. I relate this just in case you’re having similar.

The moment the gymternet learned that Casey’s last name is not in fact Magnesium.

Rotation 1

Stanford VT 1 – Chrobok – bounces back on her yfull, buckled a little in the legs. 9.750

UCLA UB 1 – Campbell – hits first hs – maloney to bail, some hip angle there – solid final cast hs – blind to double front, pretty large bounce forward on landing, some cowboy. 9.825

Stanford VT 2 – Zeng – she comes in wayyyy far onto the table, lots of elbow bend, but she managed to land it, chest well down, direction, hop. 9.650

UCLA UB 2 – Ulias – good first hs – toe 1/2, very solid vertical – Jaeger, pretty – hits hadnstand – toe on to bail, wlbows on catch, comes up a little short – good final cast hs – DLO, large bounce back and then another step and then something happened to her ankle. Weird because it looked like she landed OK? Was it a David Sender? Saluted before she went down. Now she’s down and injured.

We missed most of Gutierrez on vault but it looked OK? She went 9.850.

UCLA UB 3 – Padurariu – good first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, legs pretty well together – solid final cast hs – some leg break in giant full into double tuck, chest well down, large bounce forward. UCLA looking solid on the bars but the dismounts are not strong today. 9.750

Stanford VT 4 – Brunette – solid work on her yfull, more amplitude, a little bit of pike, lunge back

Hooten pulled out the landing on a Y1.5 for Minnesota but landed short and had to take lunges.

UCLA UB 4 – Malabuyo – maloney to pak, lovely  – 1/2 turn on low, arched, almost goes over but saves it – solid final hs – DLO is pretty clean, small step. 9.875

Stanford VT 5 – Neault – ro full on back pike, solid amplitude, but a large lunge back, chest down but not too bad for a full on vault.

UCLA UB 5 – Chiles – good first hs – piked tkatchev to pak, clean – maloney to gienger, great legs together – solid final cast hs – FTDT, very small step. Very strong.

Lexy Ramler hop forward on her Y1.5

Stanford VT 6 – Bryant – excellent dynamics on yfull, bounce back

Just one day in my life I would like Stanford to have working live scores.

And it’s a 10.000 for Chiles. Hi, she didn’t stick her dismount.

UCLA UB  6 – Flatley – higgins to jaeger, pretty – a bit short on next hs – toe on to bail, maybe not quite to vertical there – strong final cast hs – DLO, strong landing. 9.900

Loper with a mostly-stick on her Y1.5 for Minnesota, just a little rebound in place.

So that was…a rotation? I thought UCLA looked fairly rough on the first several routines, but Chiles and Flatley did well, which should save the score. And we know Chiles got a 10.

Stanford seemed to be pulling out a reasonable vault score, some large bounces though, but should be a comfortable number to work with.

Loper went 9.975 on vault. That didn’t have a real full stick like her last 10 did. 49.250 on vault for Minnesota.

49.350 for UCLA on bars. What a difference a Chiles makes.

48.975 for Stanford on vault.

Rotation 2

UCLA VT 1 – Wright – runs through. You don’t need to salute. You have three runs.

Now we’re cutting to see Stanford on bars but apparently Wright hit? Fun? Waguespack sticks a DLO to finish her bars routine. 9.850. Wright went 9.825.

UCLA VT 2 – Flatley – yfull, solid open position, bounce back, not the biggest. 9.725, a little low for me.

Stanford UB 2 – Lawson – good first hs – toe on to maloney a bit of legs into bail, pretty solid, a touch of hip angle – good cast on high – giant full to double tuck, hop forward. 9.875

UCLA VT 3 – Poston – handspring pike 1/2 – doesn’t have her best, chest down farther and a shuffle back, additional step into salute. 9.725

Stanford Ub 3 – Brunette – giant 1/2 to deltchev, not her highest but solid into overshoot – DLO, holds the stick. Chest down. 9.875

Casey gave us “it was a deltchev” and I don’t want that to go unremarked on.

UCLA VT 4 – Malabuyo – yfull, pretty clean, hop in place. 9.825

Stanford UB 4 – Neault – shortish first hs – maloney to pak, legs together on pak – 1/2 turn on low, brings legs together a bit late – not quite there on casts – toe full, late, into double tuck, solid landing. 9.900 very high.

UCLA VT 5 – Chiles – only a yfull today, not the Tsuk full, bounce back. Very good layout shape. 9.875

Stanford UB 5 – Bryant – toe on to tkatchev, hit – pak, clean – not her clearest cast hs today, but the last one was great – DLO, holds the stick maybe long enough, then steps into salute. 9.950.

UCLA VT 6 – Campbell – very strong yfull as usual, only a little movement on landing. 9.900

Stanford UB 6 – Gutierrez – good first hs – toe 1/2 to jaeger – bail, leg break and not quite vertical – blind to double front 1/2 out, hit, slide back and chest down. 9.850

49.150 vault for UCLA, Stanford on 49.450 on bars. Bars scoring was a lot today. Stanford showing a real bars rotation this season. Like real.

After 2: UCLA 98.500, Stanford 98.425

Loper has gone 9.950 on bars for Minnesota with Ramler still to come. Sales returns to the bars lineup and goes 9.900.

Ramler – UB – maloney to pak, clean – good cast hs on low – van leeuwen, strong – hits cast hs  on high – toe on position looked good, FTDT, small slide back. Slide on dismount all I saw. 9.925

Ohio State in the high 48s through the first two rotations but avoided counting a fall both times. Minnesota 49.475 on bars.

Rotation 3

Stanford BB 1 – Stephenson – aerial to beat jump, good height on beat jump – bhs loso, secure – full turn, overturns it, pretends it was a 1.5 turn – split jump, small pause before sheep jump, a bit of hip angle – gainer full, holds stick with a little movement. 9.725. There were rhythm and knee things, but we’ve seen that same routine go 9.850 elsewhere.

UCLA FX 1 – Flatley – 3/1 attempt is off on rotation and ejects her onto her back – front 2/1 is controlled landing –  switch ring to switch 1/2, good positions shown – recovers with a clean remainder of the routine I was too distracted by the correspondent on the Minnesota meet just fully stopping in the middle of her segment and being like “I messed that up”

Stanford BB 2 – Lawson – arabian and hits it securely – switch 1/2, not too bad on completion – bhs loso, hit –  gainer pike, little hop. 9.775

UCLA FX 2 – Wright – 2.5 to front tuck, low on front tuck but controls the landing today – front full to 1/2, little rebound – split leap full to popa, pulls around the popa, a little short on split leap position – 1.5 to layout, hits it, comes up slightly short, covers landing. 9.775

Stanford BB 3 – Tan – side aerial, nice – bhs lay-pike, holds it, good extension in her bhs – switch but a huge break, has to grab the beam, stays on – switch 1/2, also not bad on the position – another large break on full turn. 9.000

UCLA FX 3 – Malabuyo – This guy is obsessed with saying Milpitas – double tuck, chest up, little bounce – 1.5 to front lay, dances out, holds solid layout position, not the highest but fine – switch ring to switch 1/2, shows clear 180 work – double pike, deep, step forward. 9.875

Long judging delay to figure out what Tan is about.

Jordan Chiles is a GIFmakers dream during these meets. I’m making so many notes. Now someone make sure they put this archive on YouTube.

Casey Charity Laugh For This Guy count: 4

Stanford BB 4 – Neault – bhs loso, hit, pretty solid knee position – aerial, smoothly hit, good extension – switch ring to beat jump, elite would have some problems with the switch, fine for our purposes – 1.5 dismount, rises up to step-salute. Good. 9.800

UCLA FX 4 – McNamara – receiving the highest honor of being introduced as Pauline Tratz – rudi, secure landing, chest down – switch ring 1/2, front leg well down – switch ring to switch 1/2, better on the regular switch ring, good back leg – 1.5 to lay final pass, pulls it around, keeps it in bounds. 9.625

Stanford BB 5 – Onyshko – bhs loso series, nicely done – switch ring, pauses before beat jump but good release on switch ring – aerial, a little under, into split jump – gainer pike, stuck. 9.775

Start value conference for McNamara’s routine.

UCLA FX 5 – Chiles – DLO, solid work, just a little foot adjustment – front tuck through to double tuck, holds landing, but chest forward – split leap full to wolf jump 1.5, does a good job to actually pull a wolf 1.5 around completely – double pike, short, lunge forward. 9.825

Stanford BB 6 – Bryant – bhs loso almost the full length of the beam, has to hold her leg up on the wobble – beat to switch split jump, good – front tuck, well controlled – bhs bhs double tuck, nearly held the stick but ended up having to take a pretty large hop forward. 9.800

UCLA FX 6 – Campbell – does the full in, chest down, lunge forward – split leap full to popa, around – front lay to front full, keeps back foot down – double tuck, chest up, solid. 9.875

Meanwhile at the same time Ramler was doing Ramler on beam. Wasn’t quite a 10 for me, but it was for one of the judges, 9.975

Both teams under 49 for those rotations, Stanford 48.875 on beam, UCLA 48.975 on floor. UCLA an understaffed rotation with some landing errors. Stanford looked fine on beam. Scores there were actually realistic, aka very low for NCAA. We’ll see how that translates to UCLA’s rotation.

Minnesota went 49.150 on beam with Ramler’s 9.975, dropping a fall but counting a couple 9.7s.

UCLA 147.475, Stanford 147.300

Rotation 4

UCLA BB 1 – Padurariu – hits candle mount with some actual style – side aerial to bhs, very strong – sissone, clean, into full turn – beat to sheep jump, pretty strong sheep position, secure – side aerial into dismount and somehow didn’t fall, missed an entire foot on her side aerial, lands very deep but lands it, lunge forward. 9.675

Stanford FX 1 – Gutierrez – 2.5 to front, just a little slide forward – double pike, secure landing, a touch of knees. 9.900, OK we’re back to high.

UCLA BB 2 – Chiles – high bhs loso and a huge break, grabs the beam, also saves it – aerial, short with a chest before beat to straddle jump – switch to wolf jump – pretty much sticks her double pike though. 9.550

Stanford FX 2 – Stonecipher – 1/2 to rudi, secure, just a little low – switch 1/2 to wolf full, clear horizontal positions – double tuck, secure landing, chest a bit forward – 9.850

UCLA BB 3 – Malabuyo – wolf single, hit – bhs loso series, clean, good landing – aerial to beat jump – split jump to split ring jump, very nice, good toe point – bhs bhs full, shuffle back. Very pretty on the beam. 9.900 and I had a tenth on dismount.

Stanford FX 3 – Brunette – front lay to rudi, some bounce, lower pass – wolf hop full to split leap full, shows her positions – high double tuck, bounce back. 9.875

UCLA BB 4 – Campbell – bhs loso series, solid control – split leap to switch 1/2 to beat jump, also pretty confident – split to straddle 1/4, a bit tight on straddle position – gainer full, bounce back. 9.900

Stanford FX 4 – Hoang – DLO, chest up, well controlled – split leap full to popa, just a bit of control – front lay to front full, very secure landing – double pike, just a bit of movement. Sores have been high and that was the best so far. 9.925

UCLA BB 5 – Sakti – switch, small pause before bhs loso, great height – switch 1/2, small pause before beat jump – side aerial to full, slide back. Good.

Scores say 5.450. But probably not though? 9.950

Stanford FX 5 – Lawson – 1.5 through to double tuck, good landing – split leap full to jump full, shorter on those split positions – double pike, nailed the landing. 9.925

UCLA BB 6 – Poston – no Flatley here – beat to straddle jump 3/4, secure, some back leg – bhs bhs loso, again secure, some knee position –  1.5, holds the stick. Very secure work, just form things. 9.900

Ramler just got a 10/9.9 split on floor. Minnesota has two 9.950s in the first three floor routines.

Stanford FX 6 – Bryant – strong full in, chest up, smallest movement on landing – front tuck through to double pike, bounce back – switch side to popa – open double tuck, another little bounce. Great.

9.975, sure whatever, for her 19th-best floor routine of her career.

UCLA 49.325 on beam for a 196.800 final, which is actually not terrible for a non-full-lineup road meet where 16 people got injured every second. Ulias injured on bars and Tratz and Flatley both having to be pulled from lineups.

Stanford 49.600 on floor to win the meet with 196.900. Huge deal for them. Weird scoring where bars and floor were soooo loose but beam was kind of tight.

Apparently there are four inquiries. Love it.

Another 9.950 for Minnesota on floor for Loper. Ending with Hooten, full in, nailed the landing – switch side to popa gets up there, shows landing position – front full to front pike, also stuck – double tuck, stuck landing. Well, i’d expect that to go 10. OK 9.975.

Seeing lots of score bunching in the mid-high 9.9s this weekend after the 10-fest last weekend.

Looks like UCLA got bumped up to 196.850, but not enough to catch Stanford.

On to Utah and Cal.

Perea projected in two lineups today for Cal, bars and floor. No Clausi again, no Lauzon today.

Rotation 1

Cal VT 1 – Bordas – yfull, clean body position, medium bounce back today. 9.800

Utah UB 1 – Morgan – good first hs – maloney, some legs into a solid bhardwaj, just a little under rotated – 1/2 turn on low is nice – giant full, just a tad crooked, into double tuck, stuck. 9.925 OK here we go.

Cal VT 2 – Williams – shows a good layout shape on her yfull, good toe point, jus ta bit forward and a little hop. 9.850

Utah UB 2 – Burch – hesitation in hop grip change, pauses but works through it, hits jaeger, close catch and some form – bail, legs together – DLO, a little flung, step back. 9.725

Cal VT 3 – Li – yfull, best chest up position so far on her yfull, small bounce back and some direction, best open shape. 9.850

Utah UB 3 – Thompson – slightly short on first hs – pak is hit – maloney to gienger, solid – better final cast position but a couple short ones earlier – finds stick on DLO. 9.875

Cal VT 4 – Schank – another solid open position on her yfull, slide back, a little bit of direction, and still goes 9.900, so they took for nothing other than the landing.

Utah UB 4 – McCallum – maloney to pak, solid, small leg break on pak – misses feet on attempted toe on, tries to cast again but was off and has to hop off the bars – hits van leeuwen – FTDt is strong. So Utah willhave to count that 9.725 from Burch now.

Cal VT 5 – DeSouza – very strong landing on her y1.5, good stick, legs apart on her block but it’s getting better, again a bit of direction – 9.950

Utah UB 5 – Isa – Ray, good – bail, a bit crooked on catch, some elbows – giant full, keeps it vertical well, DLO, step back. 9.875

Cal VT 6 – Solari – she lives….and thankfully she still lives after that vault – looks like her hand slipped on her handspring but is able to do just a front tuck and land on the soft parts.

Utah UB 6 – O’Keefe – maloney to pak, smooth, some legs from this angle – 1/2 turn on low borderline position – good final cast hs – double arabian, can’t sell the stick enough with a step-salute. 9.900

Cal goes 49.350 on vault, which is a big step for them, to Utah’s 49.300 on bars, so an early surprise with Cal leading. Utah got some big numbers on bars there but also had to count Burch’s semi-error. Cal showing improvement on vault, five good landings. Scores look loose and ready to mingle on both events so far.

Rotation 2

Utah Vt 1 – Hoffman – very solid yfull, good direction, small step, chest a bit forward. 9.900

Cal UB 1 – Desouza – arch in first hs, pulls it back – hits piked jaeger to overshoot, solid position – good cast hs on high – FTDT, shuffle back, step with both feet. 9.875

Utah VT 2 – Hall – y1.5, hits it but a large lunge forward, some legs in the air. 9.775

Cal UB 2 – Schank – also a msall arch on first hs – piked jaeger to overshoot is hit but she was close on both elements, able to work through it but lots of elbows and not her normal rhythm – DLO, shortish, hop forward. Saved it. 9.775

Utah VT 3 – Stanhope – pulls out her y1.5 but it’s short, step back. 9.750

Cal UB 3 – Li – high Pak – good cast hs on low – toe on to van leeuwen, good -small hesitation in hs – giant full, on top to double tuck, stuck landing. Nice. 9.950

Utah VT 4 – Rucker – nailed the landing on her Y1.5, great stick – more amplitude than the DeSouza 9.950 and more laid out. She goes 9.975. High 9.9 bunching.

Cal UB 4- Williams – good first hs – maloney to pak – 1/2 turn on low, good finish position, very nice toe point on hs – DLO, bounce back. 9.900.

Utah VT 5 – Burch – hits her y1.5 – medium bounce forward. 9.825

Cal UB 5 – Bordas – good first hs – blind to high jaeger to overshoot, big combination as always – strong final cast hs – giant full to double tuck, hop forward and then an additional lean to try to prevent another hop. Cal giving things away on landings today. 9.825

Utah VT 6 – McCallum – hits a solid Servente – feet, small bounce back. 9.900

Cal UB 6 – Perea – pak, clean – good cast hs on low – toe on to van leeuwen, legs together – DLO, somewhat large bounce back – better than we’ve seen in her exhibitions this year though. 9.900 for her with the large bounce back, so the judges were HAVING IT.

They’ve been judging very soft on these landings in this bars rotation, but the attention to toe point and handstands during the routine puts Cal, much like Oklahoma, in position to still get good scores even when they hop hop hop.

Cal gets 49.450 on bars despite not having much in the landing stick department today aside from Li. The judges were ready for this to be one of those 49.825 days if there had been a lineup of sticks.

Utah goes 49.375 on vault so Cal will extend the lead after 2, 98.800 to 98.675. On vault, the landing errors did Utah in to a fairly significant extent, with Burch, Hall, and Stanhope not having the landing control today.

TFW your live scores misspell the name of your own university:

Rotation 3

Cal BB 1 – DeSouza – comes up a little short on her aerial but smoothly holds the landing – bhs loso series is good – beat to sheep, secure, some hip angle – 1.5, holds the stick. Confident opener. 9.900

Utah FX 1 – Paulson – front tuck through to 2.5, out of control on lunge forward – front lay to front full, better control, almost looked like she was surprised she didn’t have to take an additional step – switch full to sissone – 1.5 to layout with a dance out, secure. 9.900

I love the 9.900-10.000 scoring system we have in this sport.

Cal BB 2 – Williams – hits wolf double – Evan reminds us that a wolf turn is not, in fact, unique – bhs loso, secure landing – switch to split, good back leg toe point on switch leap – cat leap to side aerial to tuck full, hop back. 9.850

Utah FX 2 – Randall – double tuck, bounce back OOB – swtich side to popa to wolf full, good height on all the elements, not the most splittiest on the switch side – 1.5 to layout, control, slightly soft pulling it around –

9.875. WAIT DID THEY NOT TAKE THAT OOB? Of course they didn’t.

Cal BB 3 – Li – aerial, smooth to split jump – Evan’s commentary is just Kathy Johnson fanfic, as well it should be – bhs loso, great extension, arm wave to cover landing – full turn – beat to sheep jump, strong – gainer tuck full, stuck. Nice.

9.850, wait now we’re giving 9.8s? If any routine today should have been in the 9.9s…

Utah FX 3 – Rucker – full in, large lunge back, I think she just stayed in, but not that they would take it even if she wasn’t – switch 1/2 to popa to wolf full – front lay to front full, legs well apart on front lay, under control. 9.900

Cal BB 4 – Bordas – aerial with a check, breaks connection into split jump attempt, not quite committed to position – bhs loso is solid – switch to split, good – cat leap to side aerial is well done – gainer full, comfortable after that first combination but gave away a bunch there.

9.825. OK? How? Why? You know, because when I watch Li and Bordas back to back, I’m like, “those routines are the same.”

Utah FX 4 – McCallum – full in, comes up short, lunge forward – split leap full to popa is solid – rudi, good control on that one, front foot stays down. 9.850

Cal BB 5 – Schank – OK hello now front handspring to knee – bhs bhs lay-pike, strong – split to sheep, lands securely, hip angle on sheep – slight hesitation on full turn – 1.5 dismount is somewhat crazy in her attempt to try to stick and ends up developing minor epilepsy as she hop salutes. 9.775

Utah FX 5 – O’Keefe – double pike, chest down, larger slide back – switch to split leap 1.5, gorgeous positions – wolf double, around – back 1.5 to front full, just pulls it around but has to lose shape at the end to get that final twist landed, a little short. 9.875

Cal BB 6 – Watterson – wolf double, smooth – bhs loso and falls, so they’ll count the 9.775 from Schank and go 49.200 here. Finishes side aerial to lay full, stuck.

Utah FX 6 – Soloski – secure landing on DLO – switch 1/2 to split leap full – front lay to front full, control – 1.5 to layout, good maintaining layout shape in the final element.  9.975 takes Utah to 148.200 and a two tenth lead.

We see Talitha Jones and her bionic knee finish an exhibition beam with a hit dismount. Gilstrap lives and is doing exhibition on floor, double tuck, small slide – front lay to rudi, slide back – leap positions perfect obviously – front lay to front full, a bit of legs.

That it probably doesn’t make score sense to put this in the lineup right now is everything wrong with college gymnastics.

After 3: Utah 148.200, Cal 148.000

OK Li’s score went up from 9.850 to 9.900. I can breathe for a second at least. Cal on 148.050.

Rotation 4

Utah BB 1 – Morgan – bhs bhs loso, good security – switch to split, leap options getting better, back leg a little short on split jump – full turn – cat leap to side aerial to full, stuck. Strong start. 9.900

Cal FX 1 – Schank – double tuck, chest a little forward with a step – double pike, better chest up position – switch side to popas, a tad short of rotation at the end – 1.5 to layout, secure landing. 9.900. That exact same routine she gets 9.750 for sometimes.

Utah BB 2 – Burch – bhs loso series, hit – split to stag ring, some leg position – aerial, solid – gainer full, a little movement? 9.875

Cal FX 2 – DeSouza – double pike, lands more chest down than usual but also under control, which tends to be more rewarded than chest up and moving – switch side to wolf full, clearly around – 1.5 to front full, comfortable completion – rudi to double stag, mostly under control. Solid, just a little leg crossing. We’ll see what the scores do because for me that was stronger than Schank’s. 9.900

Utah BB 3 – Randall – bhs loso series, smoothly done – split to sheep jump, open hip angle – rulfova, one of her good ones – 1.5, full tenth step forward. 9.800

Cal FX 3 – Bordas – unexplained delay since all the scores are in – double tuck, chest up, controlled position – 1.5 to layout, nice twisting position on 1.5 – switch to switch ring 1/2, a little bouncy – rudi, a little more leg crossing but very secure. 9.900

Utah BB 4 – Paulson – side aerial to loso, very strong – switch, short back leg and a pause, breaks connection – split to wolf, short of position on that improvised wolf – beat to side aerial to full, stuck but gave away some ground on that switch check.

9.575. OUCHIE. She tried to add that wolf jump to the split jump, but that won’t count for her dance series because neither element is a C, so she loses a lot in start value.

Cal FX 4 – Li – front 2/1 to front tuck, super nice, very high – front full to front lay, holds under control, a bit of soft position – nice 180s on her leaps, perhaps slightly bouncy on landing – another good one. 9.950

Utah BB 5 – Isa – strong candle mount – bhs loso loso series and falls – wow, very surprising, she’s usually right on there – bhs gainer full, stuck. 9.075

Cal FX 5 – Quinn – front lay to rudi, clean and under control – switch side to popa to wolf jump, overturns the switch side some to get into the next elements in the right spot – double pike, short landing, lunge forward, good start, but final landing the biggest deduction we’ve seen in the rotation so far. 9.825

Utah BB 6 – O’Keefe – side aerial to loso, very strong – switch, lovely position, connects into split jump – cat leap to side aerial to full, very nice. Someone showed up for this rotation. 9.925

Cal FX 6 – Perea – double pike, hit, some front foot movement – wolf turn is about 2.476 around – switch 1/2 to popa, small slide on landing – 1.5 to front lay, high 1.5, not quite as high on layout, but a very solid and believable floor routine for this lineup.

9.950/9.800 split for Perea with the 9.8 judge on a 9.9 start, which is some anchor position scoring regardless.

McCallum is doing exhibition on beam and it’s a very, “maybe I should have been in the lineup today” kind of routine. Quite solid.

Judges converge on 9.9 start for Perea and a 9.825 total.

FINAL: Cal 197.525, Utah 197.275

Big win for Cal and a big score to stay competitive with all the high 197s happening. I’m somewhat surprised that Utah didn’t ice this thing on beam after having a lead through three, even though they had beam issues last week. Just enough sloppy, and just enough being a road meet, that they didn’t come out on top.

Stanford beats UCLA and Cal beats Utah, just like you thought.
