Settle in. There’s a lot to get through. Exactly this much:

I’ll be adding the results into the NQS tracker as we get final scores so we can keep track of who has qualified and who is out and what the regional placements look like as things shift throughout the day. I’ve now color-coded which teams go to regionals together (unless there are hosting conflicts—which there won’t be unless Oklahoma drops to 2 and Auburn drops to 7) for easy reference.

In the first batch, we have the opening session from Big Tens, where Illinois, Maryland, and Iowa are safe, Nebraska and Rutgers are out, and Penn State is trying to stay alive with anything 195.925 or above. Illinois and Maryland are also jockeying for seeded places, but they are pretty dependent on other teams for that.

In the remaining batch of first sessions, the big focus is on UCLA’s score, as UCLA could still end up in any of the four regionals, and that will be major news whichever one it ends up being because UCLA has gone 198 this season. At the same time as those first sessions, the behemoth 7-team MAC Championship will also run, which is the most significant of all for regional qualification purposes with Western Michigan, Kent State, and Central Michigan all in action. After that competition, we’ll know if things are still live heading into competition for San Jose, West Virginia, and North Carolina later in the day, and we’ll have a better sense of what those teams need if it is.

BIG TEN SESSION 1

In the first rotation at Big Tens, Nebraska is on vault, Penn State on bars, Rutgers on beam, and Maryland on floor. This season when Penn State has managed the type of total it needs, bars has been in the 49.2s, so watch for that mark.

Rotation 1

Johanson – UB – Penn State – good first hs – giant full to tkatchev, a little close but solid – leg break on pak – hitting clean handstands throughout – DLO, hop in place and then another small hop. 9.775

Spence – VT – Nebraska – bounce back on yfull, shows some open at the end, feet apart

Manifold – BB – Rutgers – bhs loso, secure, knees in bhs – side aerial, smooth, to beat jump – switch, bit of a pause before split 3/4, arm wave to hold it – side aerial to layout full, small slide. 9.650

Johnston – UB – Penn State – maloney to bail, solid, very small hip angle on bail – finishes giant full to double tuck, stuck. Good. 9.850

Piringer – VT – Nebraska – bounce on yfull, solid direction

Battavio – BB – Rutgers – bhs loso, a bit tentative, check, some knee at the end as she came in short – split jump to split jump full, pulls it around, hits 180 on initial split jump – cat leap to side aerial to tuck full, off line, step.

Romagnano – UB – Penn St – small arch on first hs, pulls it back – maloney to pak, clean – 1/2 turn on low bar is late – a bit short on final cast hs – DLO, chest down, shuffle forward. 9.750

Comin – VT – Nebraska – yfull, another bounce back, best dynamics so far

The Nebraska cheek kissing keeps looking like they’re going to kiss fully on the lips.

Zanella – BB – Rutgers – opens with a secure switch ring, short of back leg closure – bhs loso, holds it solidly – beat to side aerial to layout full, stuck, pretty finish.

LOVE the live scores not working. 5/5 stars.

Davis – VT – Nebraska – bounce up in place on her yfull, smaller bounce than the previous ones.

Rushlow – UB – Penn St – blind to jaeger to overshoot, good distance from the bar and amplitude and I love how we cut to a wide shot of the arena mid-routine.

Looks like we have a 49.100 finish for Nebraska.  Hall landed short on her yfull for 9.750 for the drop score in the rotation.

Comfortable beam hit for Newman for Rutgers.

Bridgens 5th on bars for Penn State with a clean giant full to double tuck finish, stuck landing. 9.875. Bonsall follows in the anchor spot with 9.825 to get Penn State to 49.225, so goal achieved in that first rotation.

Joyner – BB – Rutgers – smooth full turn – bhs loso, very good back leg extension on her bhs – switch to switch 1/2 connection attempt, I’d say no connection but nice positions on elements – side aerial to layout full, small movement

Now we’re jumping back to Rushlow’s bars which we missed earlier, she went before Bridgens in the lineup. This is very confusing broadcast composition.

Curtis stuck in the anchor spot for Nebraska on her yfull, pike.

Barber – FX – Maryland – over 49 rotation already – full in, secure landing, just some leg stagger at the end – 1.5 to front pike, controls step – switch to popa to popa, pulls them around – double tuck, chest up, solid landing.

That should move Maryland ahead of Nebraska if we get full scores ever.

Penn State will be pleased with 49.225 on bars, and now comes the challenge on beam, their weakest event, which has hit 49 only once this season. Got to have a 49 today. Maryland, meanwhile, is looking at needing a 197 today to challenge the seeds, so will have to pick up the pace as we go.

After 1:
Penn State 49.225
Maryland 49.175
Nebraska 49.100
Rutgers 48.750

Meanwhile at EAGLs I’m enjoying the range of 9.150-9.700 on Pitt’s first floor. I’m assuming there’s a typo but these days who can say. Judges 1-3: “You fell.” Judge 4: “GIMME GIMME MORE.”

Rotation 2

Zuhlke – UB – Iowa – Hindorff, looked a bit close – pak, legs apart – giant full to double tuck, holds it. 9.800

Romagnano – BB – Penn St – bhs bhs loso, large break, grabs the beam – split jump to double stag, pretty elements – side aerial to tuck full, small slide, some direction. 9.325

Kogler – VT – Maryland – bounce up on yfull, some pike

Rojas – UB – Iowa – loose back in first hs – toe on to gienger, hit – bail, a bit short on vertical – will get hit on a couple handstands – no giants before her FTDT dismount, stuck. 9.750

Cox – BB – Penn St – aerial, possible connection break into bhs, kind of kept moving but a check, I’d say no combination – struggles on straddle 1/4 position – aerial to beat jump, hit – cat leap to side somi to tuck full, step back. 9.450 and it will have to count. Oof.

Silberman – VT – Maryland – full on tuck off, bounce back, chest position OK

Mueller – FX – Illinois – double pike, pretty large bounce back – front lay to front full, a little low – switch 1/2 to wolf full is solid – double tuck, keeps front foot down

DeBarberie – VT – Maryland – clean yfull in the air, bounce back. Nice position.

We didn’t see Rushlow’s beam but the score was 8.850, which is quickly dashing all hopes for Penn State.

High Yfull from Weir for Maryland – big bounce up

Salcedo – BB – Penn St – bhs loso, almost saved it but she comes off as well – 4th missed routine on a row for Penn State – hits her punch front – split jump to straddle 3/4, leg up wobble – punch front layout full dismount is pretty, stuck.

But that’s going to be the season for PSU.

Back to see Rubio’s 9.9 on vault, nearly stuck yfull, slide back. 49.250 on vault for Maryland.

Greenwald – UB – Iowa – hits Ray, closed hips – nice pak – DLO, bounce back

Iowa ended up on 49.075 on bars, and going over 49 is a victory this season. Checking out Steffensmeier’s 9.900. Solid piked jaeger, a bit short on cast – nice 1/2 turn finish on low – giant full to double tuck, slide back. I had a couple handstands as well.

Bridgens – BB – Penn State – 5th up and their high so far is 9.450 – kickover, a bit deep but holds it – switch, check before side aerial to break an important connection – bhs loso, small lean – stuck 1.5 dismount. 9.650

Townes finishes floor for Illinois, needs to drop the 9.625 for Takekawa – front 2/1, comfortable landing – wolf jump 1.5, looks like she pulled it around – 1.5 to front full, crossover step – split leap full to popa, step back to control, but she goes 9.900 to get Illinois to 49.225

Johnston gets 9.700 to finish for Penn State, but it’s a beam score of 47.225, which means it’s going to be impossible to get to that goal score to stay alive (i.e., would take 49.7+ on the final two events).

That means it’s going to be just Kent State and Central Michigan at MACs with a chance to disrupt the current 36.

After 2:
Maryland 98.425
Penn State 96.450
Illinois 49.225
Nebraska 49.100
Iowa 49.075
Rutgers 48.750

At EAGLs session 1, Temple’s 48.975 led after the first rotation.

Rotation 3

Henderson – BB – Iowa – bhs loso, secure, good amplitude – switch to straddle 1/4, looked a bit low on switch position from our angle – double tuck, good one, hop back. 9.850

Takekawa – VT – Illinois – yfull, pretty solid dynamics, slide back

Thaler – UB – nebraska – toe on to maloney, hit into pak, smooth – 1/2 turn on low a bit late – some short casts – giant, past into double tuck, small movement. 9.750

Mueller – VT – Illinois – good stick on yfull, not as much amplitude, piking

Vance – BB – Iowa – bhs loso series was a little terrifying in the bhs but hit it securely – hits aerial round off – straddle to straddle 3/4, hit, small lean – side aerial tuck full, bounce back. 9.800

Spence – UB – Nebraska – good first hs – maloney to pak, just a bit of legs on maloney – late 1/2 turn on low – giant full to double tuck, holds landing

Killian – BB – Iowa – bhs loso series, hit, small slide – front tuck, secure – switch to switch, tight with a check at the end – 2/1 dismount, bounce back

Illinois is done on 49.200 on vault, so that’s two 49.2 rotations so far to tie Maryland halfway through.

Checking back in on Colombo’s 9.9, excellent piked jaeger, legs apart on pak, stuck her double tuck.

Townes hit her Y1.5 for Illinois, hop forward, knees, for 9.850

Kaji – BB – Iowa – bhs loso, good height but major break, step back and lean to the side – cat leap to side aerial, small squeeze to hold it – split jump to split jump 3/4, around, small movement again – bhs gainer full, bounce back

Nataraj – VT – Illinois – Y1.5, small hop forward and pretty clean position in the air. Nice.

Nebraska finished bars on 49.150 to say in sight of Maryland and Illinois but in 3rd, will stay ahead of Iowa.

Joyner – FX – Rutgers – double pike, chest up, some movement – switch full is tremendous – front full to front lay, comfortable – switch side to popa, high again – 1.5 to front pike, solid. 9.900

Kenlin – BB – Iowa – bhs loso, good position in bhs, secure – hitch to aerial to beat, a bit of knees in aerial – switch to split, solid – side aerial to layout full, stuck. Good. 9.900

Iowa 49.100 on beam.

Huang – FX – Rutgers – front 2/1, a tad deep in landing at the end, controls the step – rudi to loso is comfortable – switch side to wolf full – lone rudi final pass, well controlled.

Meanwhile, Temple maintains a lead after 2 at EAGLs with 97.950.

Huang goes 9.900 to get Rutgers to 49.200 on floor. Good pace so far.

After 3:
Maryland 98.425
Illinois 98.425
Nebraska 98.250
Iowa 98.175
Rutgers 97.950
Penn State 96.450

They fixed that Pitt floor score with the 9.150-9.700 range, by the way. Shame.

Rotation 4

I would like a Bad Lip Reading of this Nelligan bars pep talk.

Kondo – UB – Maryland – blind to jaeger to overshoot, solid amplitude, a bit of knee and foot position – DLO, chest down, step forward. 9.775

Spence – BB – Nebraska – candle, hit – wolf single – aerial, knee, to bhs bhs, secure – side somi, held, arm wave – switch to beat, nice switch position – 1.5, hop. 9.800

Johanson – FX – Penn St – double pike, good height, bounce – switch side to popa – 1.5 to layout, gets low on the layout, has to tuck knees – double tuck, large bounce back OOB. 9.600

LeBlanc – Ub – Maryland – low on piked jaeger but catches it – hits bail – DLO, near stick

Curtis – BB – Nebraska – bhs loso loso series, hits it but a lean to the side correction, covers – switch to split, nice elevation in switch – 1.5, hop forward

Joyner – VT – Rutgers – yfull, hit, bounce back, some pike

DeBarberie – UB – Maryland – Ray to overshoot, a bit low but fine – short cast hs – giant full to DLO, hop. 9.800

Everyone from Rutgers got 9.8+ on vault, 49.125 total to get over 196 pace heading to bars.

Bridgens – FX – Penn State – double tuck, chest up, good control – rudi to loso is big, almost gets OOB-big but stays in – switch 1/2 to wolf full, the slightest bit under – front full to front lay, hit. 9.850

Maryland gets a 9.900 from Silberman to start lifting the bars numbers.

Roby – BB – Nebraska – aerial, very nice, extended front leg – bhs loso series, small check – split to stag ring, strong – side aerial to tuck full, hit. 9.850

Good amplitude on jaeger from Tsiknias for Maryland, who also went 9.900.

Maryland went 49.200 on bars, which will set the mark Illinois is looking for there in rotation 5 when Maryland goes to beam.

Salcedo – FX – Penn St – double front first pass, hit, mostly controls the step, a little deep – switch full, around – front lay front full front pike, solid pike – switch side to straddle shushunova is nice

Nebraska 49.025 on beam, stays ahead of Rutgers.

After 4:
Maryland 147.625
Nebraska 147.275
Rutgers 147.075
Penn State 145.625
Illinois 98.425
Iowa 98.175

New Hampshire counted 2 falls on beam to drop back, Temple with nearly a point lead at EAGLs with one rotation left.

Rotation 5

Killian – FX – Iowa – 3/1, a tad under today, small slide – front full to front pike, under control – knees in front full – switch side to popa – double tuck, huge bounce back well OOB. 9.650

Borden – UB – Illinois – jaeger, a bit crooked into overshoot, good toes – blind to front 1.5 dismount, small slide back. 9.800

Silberman – BB – Maryland – bhs bhs loso, some knees throughout, check – switch to straddle 1/4 – 1.5 dismount with step-salute. 9.650

Simons – UB – Illinois – toe on to Ray, very close, tries to connect into overshoot but barely catches it an loses rhythm – and now goes over the wrong way on her giant full on high bar.

McClure – BB – Maryland – aerial to bhs connection, it’s slow but she keeps her arms moving so gets credit – switch to straddle 1/4, a bit tight – kickover, holds it into beat jump – gainer front 1.5 dismount is nice

We join Kenlin partway through routine, somewhat out of control landing her switch ring full.

Penn State is done with 49.075 on vault, but a final of 194.700, which will not count.

O’Donnell – UB – Illinois – shortish first hs – jaeger, good toes into overshoot, a bit of pike – giant full on high bar goes wayyyy off line and has to correct, tries again and its the same, hops off this time, so Illinois is counting a miss on bars.

Kaji – FX – Iowa – 1.5 through to 2/1, clean 2/1, controlled landing – switch 1/1, around – double pike, bounce back – switch 1/2 to split jump full –

Kogler – BB – Maryland – switch to straddle 1/4, a bit tight, secure – bhs bhs loso, solidly done, good leg position – front walkover to have a front element – switch, pause before split jump, again shy of 180 – gainer full, stuck.

Takekawa – UB – Illinois – good piked jaeger – bail, hits vertical – a bit shy on final cast hs – DLO, pikes slightly in second salto to find the stick, good landing. 9.925

But it’s just 48.250 for Illinois on bars.

Henderson – FX – Iowa – FTDT, high, bounce back – switch side to popa to straddle jump, pristine – front tuck through to double tuck, a bit short, hop forward. Solid, not her strongest.

Temple is done on 196.025, which will win the first session at EAGLs, but we’re waiting on the other scores.

Barber – BB – Maryland – aerial to beat jump, nice front leg – bhs loso, also comfortable – kickover, nailed – switch to split – 2/1 dismount,s tep back. That will save the rotation score. A bit. 9.775.

9.925 for Henderson, which is basically the same thing she gets for her best ones. That’s scoring the expectation rather than the performance. Setting it up for Guerin.

Guerin – FX – Iowa – full in, excellent, chest up – switch side to popa to straddle, also great – front tuck through to double tuck, chest up, nice. 9.950 for her. Score bunching.

Iowa goes 49.525 to now put them is strong position to win the session after Illinois counts a miss on bars and Maryland goes 48.825 on beam.

After 5:
Maryland 196.450
Penn State 194.700
Iowa 147.700
Nebraska 147.275
Rutgers 147.075
Illinois 146.675

That 196.450 for Maryland will count but will keep them in 20th place for the moment.

Temple wins the first session at EAGLs with a counting score that puts them in 43rd for now. Every team in this EAGLs session has already been eliminated from regionals.

We also know that Illinois needed 196.400 today to change its NQS, which is going to be all-but-impossible on beam in the final rotation.

Iowa only needs a meh 48.775 to beat Maryland’s current first-place score.

Rotation 6

Borden – BB – Illinois – has to get out of her press mount a little early – aerial to fhs to straddle 1/4, keeps it moving, gets low on straddle 1/4 – beat to sheep jump, small check, a bit closed on sheep position – front layout full, stuck. 9.750

Spence – FX – Nebraska – 1.5 through to 2/1, shows control, just a bit of knees at the end – double wolf, dance out arms – switch ring to split leap full, nice back leg ring position – double tuck, hit, small movement. 9.850

Near stick from Zuhlke on her handspring on Tsuk tuck full, small slide back

Calah Newman with a miss on bars, can’t get up to handstand on her cast 1/2-ish (?) attempt. Karolewski follows with a Ray that nearly drops right onto the bar for 9.600.

Mueller – BB – Illinois – following a couple 9.7s – bhs loso, secure work – switch to switch, fine – beat to kickover, super solid – 1.5, hop forward

Iowa finished vault on 49.250 and a total of 196.950 which will win the session unless Nebraska finishes floor with straight 10s.

Western Michigan will go 49.300 on beam, which is gigantic. Kent State getting the high numbers on floor.

Knight – BB – Illinois – up 5th here, switch to split, nice attention to height on back leg, loses the knees some – side aerial to bhs, hit – full turn, overturned, lean to the side – beat to side somi to tuck full, works through it very quickly. 9.775

Higgins – FX – Nebraska – front 2/1, lunge – rudi quite clean – switch side to popa, nice 180 – knee spring middle pass – 1.5 to layout, good stick. Should score well. 9.875

Takekawa – BB – Illinois – side aerial to bhs, comfortable – swtich, small pause before straddle 1/4, good real horizontal position in straddle 1/4 – bhs gainer full, good stick.

9.950 for her. 49.150 for Illinois on beam

Kueneman – FX – Nebraska – secure double back landing – front lay to front full, gets a little lower on the front full – 1.5 to layout, gets really low on layout, loses form to tuck it and has to lunge back to save a fall. So that will keep Nebraska tied with Maryland.

Session 1 Final:
1 – Iowa – 196.950
2 – Maryland – 196.450
2 – Nebraska – 196.450
4 – Illinois – 195.825
5 – Rutgers – 195.725
6 – Penn State – 194.700

With those results, Iowa moves into 22nd place for the moment. Illinois and Maryland stay put. Nebraska moves ahead of Penn State and into 37th place, but 37th place won’t do it.

We have a bit of time before Pac-12s now, with the last-minute news being that they are doing apparatus streams as well at pac-12.com/gymchamps. Thanks for the warning? It’s much better than the typical format of one-at-a-time, which just takes too long, especially for the team on vault, having to wait like 5 minutes between vaults.

So, Western Michigan went 49.300 on beam, Kent State went 49.150 on floor, and Central Michigan has started with 9.875 on bars. So it looks like it’s going to be a soaring score fest. But Kent State needs a biggggg number today, and floor is their highest scoring event, so 49.150 may not do it.

So so so. Now that we allegedly have apparatus feeds for Pac-12s, I’m going to change plans a little bit and watch the TV feed of SECs while making sure to keep track of UCLA’s progress on the apparatus feeds since UCLA’s result is the most important today for deciding regionals placements (and because, let’s be real, if I’ve learned anything from the viewership numbers of this website over the decade, you people want all UCLA, all the time).

Meanwhile, 49.175 on bars for CMU is medium-helpful, staying on track to remain in contention but not a break-the-bank number.

Intros done at Pac-12s now. Jim tells us that the Pac-12s finally changed format because the coaches wanted it. I don’t know why they put up with one-at-a-time for so long.

Pac-12 Session 1

Rotation 1

Flatley – VT – UCLA – Yfull, bounce back, a bit larger than her usual bounce, solid amplitude, a bit of legs at the end – we can see 2 of the judges, I see a 9.800 and a 9.750. It’s 9.800 overall.

SKW – FX – Washington – front 2/1, small slide forward – switch to switch 1/2 ring, low front leg, good back leg – 1.5 to layout, solid, dance out –

We see an opening 9.800 on beam for Arizona.

Malabuyo – VT – UCLA – in for Moors, Moors looked like she was really struggling in the touch, sitting down a handspring front pike – yfull, good height, minimizes her slide back, chest a bit forward. 9.775

Brunette – UB – Stanford – good hs – 1/2 turn to deltchev, far but fingertips it connected to overshoot – solid final cast hs vertical, a bit of loose back – DLO, hit

Chiles – VT – UCLA – bounce back on Tsuk full today, amplitude looked a bit higher though. 9.850

Coaches: We’re going all at the same time to make this go faster.
Judges: LOL

Deets has a couple checks for Arizona on beam, arm wave on kickover – gainer full, stuck.

Wright – VT – UCLA – upgrades to the Y1.5 but it’s a major struggle, can’t quite get it around, several lunges back, nearly back into the table, which means Malabuyo’s 9.775 will count.

Bryant – UB – Stanford – good first hs – toe on to tkatchev, hit – pak, pretty – 1/2 turn on low is solid – small loose back in final cast hs – DLO, smooth but a bit short with a hop forward

Poston – VT – UCLA – handspring pike 1/2, chest down, hops to the side to pull out the landing. I see a 9.700 from someone.

Thompson – FX – Washington – whip through to double tuck, bounce back OOB – split jump to front tuck, good – switch to split leap 1.5 – double pike, slight foot slip, bounce, finds her footing again

Campbell – VT – UCLA – saves the rotation as much as she can, small slide back on yfull

Looks like it’s going to be 49.025 for UCLA on vault. Not ideal.

Mueller – BB – Arizona – side aerial to loso is hit – switch and split – 1.5, hop forward.

Stanford through bars with six hits, also on 49.025.

Cunningham – FX – Washington – front tuck through to double tuck, under control – switch 1/2 to wolf full to wolf full, some feet, solidly around – double pike, solid

Arizona got 9.875 from Mueller to move ahead after the first rotation.

Linton – BB – Arizona – wolf double, slight hesitation, around hit – bhs bhs loso, small squeeze – switch to split jump – side aerial to layout full, holds landing well. A big rotation.

Davis – FX – Washington – rudi to loso, good loso feet, just a bit of foot crossing in rudi – split leap full to popa, around – front 2/1 final pass, works it out, legs, small step back

Linton went 9.900 to get Arizona to 49.225 and a lead, and already done with beam. Big deal.

Meanwhile, Western Michigan went 49.325 on floor, meaning they just have to be meh on vault and bars to clinch a spot. Central Michigan went 49.200 on beam, which keeps them on pace to do something today, and Kent State went 48.925 on vault, which means they’re going to have to pick up the 49 pace a bit on bars and beam.

Oh sweet lord this Washington floor rotation still isn’t done. 9.850 for Davis. Weiss still to go.

Weiss – FX – Washington – double pike, secure, just a bit of chest position – 1.5 to layout, bounce forward – split leap full and split jump full, big struggles to get to split on those – double tuck, secure, chest down.

So, Arizona will lead. UCLA on 49.025, after a rotation that was less secure than their latest, not getting a counter from Wright and some uncontrolled landings throughout.

After 1:
Arizona 49.225
UCLA 49.025
Stanford 49.025
Washington 48.925

SEC Session 1

The difference between the Pac-12 being like “four apparatuses going at a time and we hate it” and the SEC being like “four apparatuses going at a time and it’s SO FUN” is stark and hilarious.

Sam Peszek’s fingernails dot com

Procasky – VT – Kentucky – lands very short on her yfull, bound forward. 9.600

Magee – BB – Georgia – bhs bhs loso series, huge break and falls. What a start. 8.900

Marshall with a hit FTDT on bars for Missouri, hop to the side. 9.775

Hickey with a solid double tuck to finish floor for Arkansas.

Angeny – VT – Kentucky – nice open on her yfull, not a lot of distance, hop back.

Campbell – UB – UCLA – opens the rotation for UCLA – a hesitation in first hs – maloney to bail, just a bit of legs on Maloney – blind to double front, cowboy, lunge forward. Still gets 9.800

Celestine – UB – Missouri – maloney, some back position – struggles on pak, large arch and leg separation – stalder pike 1/2 dismount, stuck.

Esparza – UB – UCLA – maloney to pak, nice height and leg position – van leeuwen, just a bit of ankles, slightly short on cast hs – DLO, short, lunge forward. Don’t have the landings yet today. 9.825. Scoring for UCLA’s bars routines a bit loose so far.

Hawthorne comes back with a hit for Georgia in the second spot on beam.

Lawson – BB – Stanford – arabian is secure – cat leap to switch 1/2, hit, some feet – full turn, slightly overturns – falls on loso.

Padurariu – UB – UCLA – blind to piked jaeger, hit – a bit loose in cast hs – bail, solid – giant full gets crooked and late, has to add a giant before her double tuck dismount so won’t be up to level. 9.675

Nice 1.5 to layout from Shaffer on floor for Arkansas, her front layout position is always ideal. Double tuck, chest down some, hop forward.

Worley – VT – Kentucky – solid y1.5, hop forward, some knees. Needed a score from her. 9.800. Vault scoring keeping itself under control at SECs so far.

Malabuyo – UB – UCLA – maloney to pak, good pak, a bit of legs at the end – solid 1/2 turn position on low – DLO, hop forward. 9.800

Sheremeta – UB – Missouri – good height on jaeger, connects to overshoot, a bit of leg break on overshoot – 1/5 dismount, hop forward

Nguyen – BB – Georgia – onodi to bhs, lovely, smooth – y spin to full spin, connected definitively – split jump, hits 180 – side aerial to layout full, slide back, but really good.

Meanwhile, Stanford is counting a miss on beam.

Hu – UB – Missouri – good first hs – Church to Pak, gets it, just a little close on Church – good cast hs on high – giant full, late into double tuck, stuck. Good.

Chiles – UB – UCLA – piked tkatchev to pak, nice – hits hs – maloney to gienger, comfortable – can’t save her handstand on high, goes over the wrong way and has to recorrect – FTDT, stuck.

Chiles getting 9.850 for going over on a handstand is…something.

Hambrick – FX – Arkansas – double tuck, solid – rudi to back tuck to double stag, lost a lot of form on the rudi, tucks the salto afterward – switch 1/2 to popa, good popa lift –

Flatley – UB – UCLA – giant to higgins to jaeger, lovely – toe on, bail is good – DLO, leans to hold the stick. Good. And that’s also for 9.850. Sure.

49.150 for UCLA and that’s a get out of jail free card.

Kyla Bryant with a large lunge back on double tuck on beam, and an extra step.

Lovett – FX – Arkansas – strong DLO – double tuck, chest up, high, slide back – switch 1/2 to popa, nice – front lay, loses leg position a little into front full, short with correction step

Baumann – BB – Georgia – anchoring, trying to avoid counting a fall – side aerial to loso and falls, Georgia counting a beam fall. The rest was sublime.

Arkansas will move into first place after 1 with a 49.225.

I know we talk a lot about SEC scoring, but of the three big championships’ opening sessions, the first session SEC judging has been the most sane and realistic.

Washington will develop a .025 lead on UCLA after two events.

SEC After 1:
Arkansas 49.225
Missouri 49.150
Kentucky 49.050
Georgia 48.425

Rotation 2 SECs

Kelley – VT – Arkansas – yfull, hop in place, some knees –

Perez-Lugones – FX – Georgia – double pike, nice – whip 1/2 to front full, fall, got very low, she looked injured but maybe just a sting that she recovered from because she’s resuming and her leaps look good – double tuck, hit, a little ginger.

Big news: Kent State is counting a fall on bars. They go 48.200, which means that the score to stay alive is all but impossible on beam. Central Michigan is looking like the last team kicking.

Padurariu – BB – UCLA – side aerial to bhs, smooth – a bit of a check between split leap and full turn – beat to sheep, nice position, leans to hold it – solid dismount. 9.900

And now Central Michigan went 48.825 on floor, which also does not help their quest. Will need to go over 49 on vault to stay alive.

Nixon – UB – Kentucky – maloney to bail, borderline vertical, nice leg position – a bit short on final cast hs – FTDT, a bit deep, step back.

Chiles – BB – UCLA – aerial to bhs, smooth – switch to straddle to wolf, very strong straddle and wolf positions – side somi, lean back and arm wave to hold it – double pike, stuck landing. 9.850

Hambrick finishes vault for Arkansas with Y1.5, solid, medium step forward. Arkansas continuing very well through two events. But vault to come.

Flatley – BB – UCLA – aerial to bhs loso, pretty – switch to split, little lean correction during the series – bhs layout 1.5, nicely done. 9.925

It’s 49.250 on vault for Arkansas.

Angeny – UB – Kentucky – short first hs – blind to jaeger to overshoot, high, feet – better final cast hs – DLO, good position, stuck landing. 9.825

Campbell – BB – UCLA – bhs loso series, check – split leap, a bit hesitant into switch 1/2 to beat, OK – split jump to straddle 1/4, solid – gainer full, stuck. This is a much better rotation for UCLA. 9.850

Sheremeta – BB – Missouri – bhs loso, clean – aerial, extended well – gainer tuck full, stuck. Excellent routine. 9.900

48.900 for Arizona on vault.

Good stick on FTDT from Worley to finish bars for Kentucky.

Sakti has a pretty large break on bhs loso on beam for UCLA, lean to the side and leg up.

Another 49.050 for Kentucky on bars.

Hu – BB – Missouri – aerial, leannnnnn and suddenly it’s a fall as she tries to hold the connection.

Malabuyo – BB – UCLA – bhs loso series, strong, good toe point – aerial and a break, bend at the hips, turn to the side – split to split ring to beat jump is excellent – bhs loso layout full, stuck. 9.850

Georgia gets a hit from Hawthorne to survive the floor rotation

UCLA goes 49.375 on beam to pick the score pace back up, which will ensure that this is a counting number as long as floor isn’t a total disaster.

Schreiber – BB – Missouri – bhs loso loso, right on – switch 1/2 to split jump, good elevation – gainer full, stuck.

UCLA has moved ahead of Arizona by about 4 tenths (Arizona currently has an impossible score on the scoreboard, so that’s fun).

Georgia went 49.250 on floor, Missouri 49.225 on beam.

After 2 SECs:
Arkansas 98.475
Missouri 98.375
Kentucky 98.100
Georgia 97.675

Bryant finishing the floor rotation for Stanford – full in, chest up, slide back – front tuck through to double pike, strong – switch side to popa, a little crooked – double tuck, small slide.

After 3 Pac-12s:
UCLA 147.525
Arizona 147.162 (not possible, so let’s say either 147.150 or 147.175)
Washington 147.150
Stanford 146.850

So, this is going to be a non-counting score from Kent State that will eliminate them from contention. The only team outside the top 36 that is still alive is Central Michigan, but that’s tenuous, especially with #36 Western Michigan en route to a big counting score. They need a good vault to put the pressure on…probably San Jose State.

Rotation 3 SECs

Smith – UB – Arkansas – maloney to bail, legs on bail, a bit of hip angle – DLO, nice one. 9.825

Luksik is low on switch 1/2 position on beam but otherwise with a hit – 9/725

Magee – VT – Georgia – Y1.15 gets short, two lunges back

Scalzo – UB – Arkansas – blind, small leg break into jaeger to overshoot, a bit of leg moments but fine – solid final cast hs – DLO, whips slightly, hop forward. Usable. 9.800

Flatley – FX – UCLA – 3/1, a bit out of control today, lunge back, keeps it in bounds – front 2/1, controls the step – switch ring to switch 1/2, shows clean split positions – 1.5 to layout, a bit short on layout with a step back. 9.875

Jones hits bars for Arkansas, nice height on pak, DLO, a bit deep, step forward.

Kentucky has a fall on beam for Procasky, following a 9.725 for Luksik.

Good DLO for Linton on bars for Arizona, stuck.

Moors – FX – UCLA – front 2/1 to front tuck, front tuck gets somewhat low but she pulls it around – lovely loso side pass – switch ring to switch 1/2 to wolf full – rudi, clean twisting position. 9.900

Magnelli – BB – Kentucky – bhs loso loso, large break, bend at the hips

Hambrick – UB – Arkansas – blind to piked jaeger to overshoot, solid height, some feet – a bit rushed on final cast hs – FTDT, step forward

patterson – BB – Kentucky – counting two 9.7s already – bhs to loso, very high, good – aerial was a bit low early but hit it, check -switch to switch, elegant back leg – cat leap to switch side, high – gainer piked, step

O’Hara – UB – Arkansas – toe 1/2 to jaeger, hit – bail, very clean, right to vertical, toe point – slightly rushed in final cast – DLO, floaty, lands forward, step.

Stanford is done on 196.000

Kentucky gets 9.800 for Patterson, the top beam for them so far.

Angeny – BB – Kentucky – bhs loso loso, pulls it out, no check – beat to straddle 1/4, comfortable – side aerial to tuck full, slide back. Good. 9.850

tratz – FX – UCLA – double pike bounce back OOB – following 9.925 from Malabuyo – 1.5 to layout is good, straight position on layout – double tuck, bounce back, another OOB. 9.575

Arkansas went 49.150 on bars, which is a win for them. Georgia 49.025 on vault.

Worley – BB – Kentucky – cat to switch side, hit – aerial, check – bhs loso, no trouble – kickover, quite comfortable – 1.5, hop forward.

Chiles – FX – UCLA – DLO, easy peasy, but a slide back – front tuck through to double tuck, chest down, step forward – split leap full to wolf 1.5, a little under pulling around that 1.5 turn – double pike, bounce back. Still gets 9.875, which is pretty friendly.

48.875 for Kentucky on beam. 49.325 for Missouri on floor to go ahead of Arkansas.

After 3 SECs
Missouri 147.725
Arkansas 147.625
Kentucky 146.975
Georgia 146.700

That score from Chiles will give UCLA the session win. Waiting on Campbell to determine the final score. Arizona is done with something around 196.350-196.375. Not quite the clinch number for them heading into today but will be enough to clinch regionals. Washington goes 196.400, well over what they needed.

Campbell – FX – UCLA – struggles on full in, chest down, deep landing – split leap full to popa is nice – lay to front full, comfortable – double tuck, slide back.

Campbell goes 9.850 to give UCLA 49.425 on that floor rotation somehow. UCLA finishes 196.950, so let’s see what we see.

So that will move UCLA into 13th place for now, but with Oregon State, Arizona State, Denver, Ohio State, and Arkansas still to put up final scores. So things will change.

As for regionals, Central Michigan put up a last-minute win on 196.275, which was jussst shy of the 196.325 they needed to have a shot, so it won’t be enough for Central Michigan if these scores stand.

Which means all the teams that were already in the top 36 but still have to go, like UNC, West Virginia, and San Jose, are going to be safe regardless.

Rotation 4 SECs

Was doing some scores, but we have started the final rotation here, Missouri with a fall in the second spot on vault from Patrick after a 9.750 from Marshall.

Arkansas had 9.675 from Gamiao in the first spot.

Smith – BB – Arkansas – candle mount, past vertical, has to muscle to hold it – switch to straddle 1/4, tight but hit, arm check – bhs loso series, large break, leg up above horizontal – double tuck dismount, chest forward, lunge.

Schreiber with a large bounce back on vault, letting Arkansas in this but Arkansas not taking it.

Celestine – VT – Missouri – nice 1.5 in the air, good form, medium pace forward

Moore – VT – Missouri – Y1.5 – very high, nicely done, small step back

Just 9.500 for Smith on beam, so a 9.675 already counting.

Gianfagna – BB – Arkansas – bhs loso series, solid – cat leap to kickover, arm wave – beat, small pause before straddle 1/2 – 1.5, stuck. Better. 9.825

Moore goes 9.950 on vault to get Missouri to 49.150 there.

Missouri finishes on 196.875, which looks like it will be the session winner.

Haigis – FX – Kentucky – rudi to loso, clean – double pike, controls the step. 9.875

Georgia has a fall from Hattaway in the 4th spot, counting a 9.725 on bars now with two to go.

Lovett – BB – Arkansas – aerial, small pauses before loso, large wobble, bend down to horizontal – switch to split jump, good split jump position – side aerial to layout full, stuck.

Arkansas really risking an unseeded spot with this rotation now.

9.650 for her.

Nguyen – UB – Georgia – finishing the day – toe on to higgins to piked jaeger, solid – pak, small foot separation – DLO, stuck landing. Good finish.

Hambrick – BB – Arkansas – bhs loso, step back – switch 1/2 is hit – beat to straddle 3/4, just a little crooked, but secure – gainer full, hop back. 9.800

Worley – FX – Kentucky – full in, good control – switch ring to switch side, good ring – front full to front lay, stuck – double tuck, small movement. 9.950

Elswick – BB – Arkansas – bhs loso, secure, good extension shown – small hesitation on full turn – split jump to split jump 3/4, shows horizontal positions – aerial, solid – bhs 1.5, hop forward. Good.

Kentucky is done on 196.350, Georgia on 195.800. Waiting on the Arkansas score.

9.875 for Elswick and 196.450 for Arkansas.

SO, non-counters for Kentucky, Arkansas, and Georgia, and a barely-counter for Missouri. That means Arkansas will go to the Oklahoma regional as an unseeded team.

Missouri will stay in 11th, Michigan State still with a chance to pass later on.

Kentucky stays 9th for now, Cal can pass with a score in the later session.

It would take 197.050 for Cal to pass Kentucky.

It would take 197.225 for Michigan State to pass Missouri.

We’ve got a sliver of time now before the championship sessions start with Big Tens session 2. The 36 regionals qualifiers are now locked, and we know UCLA will be a #4 seed at some regional, but which one is still up for determination.

PART B!

Big Ten Session 2

Rotation 1

Morrison – BB – Michigan – hits candle mount – bhs loso, small correction – cat leap to switch 1/2, pretty solid height – full turn wobble – 1.5, holds the stick. 9.850

Wiedeman – VT – MSU – yfull is solid, slide back, some pike

Remlinger – UB – Minnesota – Ray, good – toe on to bail, gets to vertical there – short final cast hs – FTDT, stuck.

Garcia – VT – MSU – solid control on yfull landing, little rebound in place, not the most distance and some pike

Wilson – BB – Michigan – bhs loso series, good height, controlled, some knees in bhs – swtich split jumps are nice – double tuck, holds control on the landing, a tad deep. 9.850

Hooten – UB – Minnesota – good first hs – blind a bit late to piked jaeger to overshoot, great amplitude – rushes final cast hs – FTDT, holds the stick. 9.875

Hsu – VT – MSU – pretty form on yfull, small slide back

Vore – BB – Michigan – bhs loso and falls – Michigan with the beam struggle again – kickover to beat jump is solid – straddle jump to split 1/2, really nice split – 1.5, step back.

Willmarth – UB – Minnesota – some angle in first hs – Ray, solid – bail, good bail position – nice final cast hs position – giant full to double tuck, leans to hold the stick. Nice.

Schulte – VT – MSU – clean position on her yfull, side back. Still goes 9.900

It’s 49.250 for Michigan State on vault.

Brooks – BB – Michigan – bhs loso loso, secure – switch to beat, smooth – kickover, secure as well – double tuck, bounce back. That works.

Gagliardi – FX – OSU – front lay to rudi, small amount of pike, slide – switch side to popa to something? straddle tuck jump? – double pike, controlls step

Loper – UB – Minnesota – maloney to pak, clean – 1/2 turn on low, pretty solid vertical – giant full, good finish position, to double tuck, hop

Heiskell – BB – Michigan – cat leap to side aerial, held well, foot a little off line – switch to switch, nice back leg position – bhs loso series, hit – 1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.850

Stephen – VT – MSU – great amplitude on yfull, bounce back

Sales – UB – Minnesota – bail, a bit of soft elbows, good vertical – blind to khorkina – nice cast hs on high – DLO, holds it, just a bit deep

Wojcik – BB – Michigan – aerail to beat jump, lovely – switch, small hesitation before split jump, good positions – bhs bhs loso, right on – 1.5, holds the landing.

Wojcik gets 9.950

Ramler – UB – Minnesota – maloney to pak, legs together – good hs on low – van leeuwen, legs together – small bit of loose back in cast hs – toe on to FTDT, good landing. 9.950 for her as well.

Hlavach with a bounce up on piked full in, chest down – nice layout position in second pass combination – double tuck, small slide

After 1:
Minnesota 49.525
Michigan 49.375
Ohio State 49.350
Michigan State 49.250

Minnesota with the lead after the first. Beam was the question for Michigan, and it remained slightly concerning but they’re through with a usable score so won’t be too broken up about it. Now it’s Minnesota’s turn.

Rotation 2

Riccardi – VT – OSU – somewhat larger bounce back on yfull

Stephen – UB – MSU – good first hs – toe on to maloney – hits hs – toe on to bail, solid position – a bit rushed on ginal cast – giant full to double tuck, a bit forward with a hop.

Koch – BB – Minnesota – bhs loso, hit, knees in both – beat to split jump 3/4, under control – kickover to scale, good toe point, smoothly connected – 1.5 with a step-salute

Loomis – UB – MSU – blind to jaeger, OK, a bit close – pak, lots of arch – giant full, a lit late into double tuck, hop forward

Heiskell – FX – Michigan – controls step forward on double arabian – 1.5 to layout, clean layout shape – switch 1/2 to wolf full, good positions – double pike, chest a bit forward, covers. And she gets 9.950. Here we go.

Edwards – VT – OSU – nearly shows the stick on yfull, good height, only small movement.

Mitchell – BB – MSU – good first hs – maloney to bail, legs together well – loose back in hs on high – DLO, pikes down the second salto, slide back

Wojcik – FX – Michigan – front 2/1 to front pike, large lunge, goes all the way out of bounds – split leap full to popa, nice – double pike, chest down, stagger backward – rudi to straddle jump is fine, but that was a rough one. 9.700 is very forgiving.

49.200 for Ohio State on vault.

Loper – BB – Minnesota – following a fall from Gerdes in the second spot – bhs loso, pretty smooth – kickover, holds it well – switch to straddle 1/4 – 1.5, a little short, step back.

Schulte – UB – MSU – maloney to bail, a bit of legs in maloney, slightly short on bail – better final cast hs – DLO, bounce back

49.300 on bars for Michigan State.

Sales has the same mistake as last week on beam for Minnesota on her three series, off and can’t complete the second bhs. Minnesota counting a miss on beam now.

Harkness – UB – MSU – toe on to gienger, nice – bail, legs together, bit of hip angle – solid final cast hs – FTDT, some legs, deep landing witha  bounce back.

Brooks – FX – Michigan – full in, slide back – front tuck through to double tuck, chest down, hop forward – split leap full to jump full, great – double pike, better, little bounce. 9.900 somehow.

Minnesota counting

Like seeing the round off full on back layout on vault from Hlavach.

Nylin – BB – Minnesota – already counting a 9.000 – bhs bhs loso, right to the end, little check –  hitch kick to switch side, short of split position – 1.5, stuck, some knees.

Wilson – FX – Michigan – open full in, solid, chest just a bit forward – front lay to front full to front tuck, controlled – switch side to popa, great height – double tuck is smooth. 9.925

Ramler – BB – Minnesota – bhs loso, hit – aerial to beat, comfortable connection – beat to switch ring, good ring – side aerial to layout full, little lean forward. Not her most comfortable but should be a good score.

And it’s still 9.950.

But Minnesota goes 48.225 on beam. Michigan 49.575 on floor. Ohio State 49.200, Michigan State 49.300.

After 2:
Michigan 98.950
Ohio State 98.550
Michigan State 98.550
Minnesota 97.750

Michigan in position to run away with this right now, but Michigan State and Minnesota do still get to go to floor, where the scoring has been wild today.

Rotation 3

Berger – UB – OSU – maloney to bail, good maloney position, bail, a bit short of verticla – giant full, late into double tuck, holds stick. 9.875

Guggino – VT – Michigan – hits y1.5, crossover step backward. 9.825

Wiedeman – BB – MSU – bhs loso, hit, tight hip position though, chest down – cat leap to kickover, works right into beat jump – bea tto straddle 3/4, slightly low, secure – gainer tuck full hop in place. 9.775

Wojcik – VT – Michigan – lovely y1.5, little hop up in place and goes 9.950

Hlavach – Ub – OSU – toe on to gienger, just a bit close, to overshoot, solid – very short on final cast hs and late on the giant full but gets the double tuck out, hop

Heiskell – VT – Michigan – clean y1.5 as well, little shuffle forward. Also 9.950.

We could tell from the vault scoring at the start of this meet that Michigan was going to get huge vault numbers even without sticking because they allowed no room for excellence early when normal was going 9.900.

Edwards – UB – OSU – toe on to maloney, good height on that into pak, good – pretty close inf inal cast hs – giant full to double tuck, hop back

Morrison went 9.950 on vault and we missed that. Now Brooks, and she sticks a Y1.5. And that goes 10.000.

Replay of the Morrison 9.950 with a step-salute.

And it’s 49.725 for Michigan on vault.

Ramler – FX – Minnesota – 1.5 through to 2/1, bounce back – switch ring, lovely to switch 1/2 – rudi, smoothly landed – 1.5 to layout, whips around the layout some. Good. 9.900

Miller – UB – Ohio State – good first hs – toe on to maloney, legs together into bail, nice crisp position through the combination – short final cast hs – DLO, stuck. Nice.

49.425 on bars for Ohio State.

Schulte – BB – MSU – switch to switch 1/2, pretty solid position on switch 1/2 – bhs loso, secure, a bit of form – side aerial to layout full, holds the landing. 9.850

Mitchell – BB – MSU – bhs bhs loso, nice position on bhs, a little form on loso – full turn, slight hesitation – aerial, some knee, solid – split to straddle 1/4, comfortable – 1.5, solid landing

Loper – FX – Minnesota – layout to rudi, a bit arched in layout, comfortable rudi – switch ring to split leap full, good – 2.5, a bit under, step – 1.5 to layout, well done. 9.900

Garcia – BB – MSU – smooth full turn – bhs loso series, good open hip position, small check – aerial, pretty into split jump, has to squeeze a little to connect – switch to split, pause in between the elements – side aerial to layout full, stuck. No leap series.

Hooten – FX – Minnesota – full in, chest up, solid, a bit of feet – switch side to popa – front full to front pike, hit – double tuck, strong, secure. 9.950

Another 49.5 rotation for Minnesota, here on floor with 49.575.

After 3
Michigan 148.675
Ohio State 147.975
Michigan State 147.625
Minnesota 147.325

Still waiting on Garcia’s beam score. Michigan well on track for a 198 now. Ohio State got bumped out of the regional spots by UCLA a second ago, but will get back in with a hit beam rotation.

The score Michigan State needs to pass Missouri is *probably* out of reach, but also floor scoring today, so not necessarily.

Yes, looks like they didn’t give Garcia a leap series for 9.500.

Rotation 4

Ewing – FX – MSU – front 2/1, comes in a little short but controls the step – switch to split leap 1.5, around – 1.5 to front full, good control, slightly soft knees. And it’s 9.900

Heiskell – UB – Michigan – good first hs – blind to jaeger, nice – hitting handstands – legs together on pak – clean throughout – giant full, solid final position into double tuck – stuck. And 9.950

Gerdes – VT – Minnesota – good position on yfull in the air, pace back. 9.825

Morrison – UB – Michigan – 3rd up- a bit rushed in first hs – good height on gienger – clear hip, a hesittiopn to hold it into bail, some hip angle – DLO, small stagger. 9.900 for her as well.

Ramler – VT – Minnesota – good Y1.5, medium hop forward, some knees

Hooten – VT – Minnesota – good position in the air, sticks landing. Nice. 9.950

Brooks – Ub – Michigan – piked jaeger, good – toe on to bail – DLO 1/1, bounce back

Oliveros – BB – Ohio State – aerial, a little slow into bhs but they’ll probably say she kept moving – switch 1/2, larger break, leg up wobble – side aerial to layout, full, stuck

Quarles – VT -= Minnesota – medium hop forward on Y1.5. 9.900

Wojcik – UB – Michigan – good first hs – toe on to deltchev is too far and falls. And that 9.025 will give Michigan the win. LOL.

Loper – VT – Minnesota – a little short on Y1.5 today witha  step back. 9.850

Minnesota goes 49.400 on vault for a 196.725 final, which will improve the team NQS regardless.

Ohio State gets a hit out of berger in the 4th spot, but the scores have been lower.

Vore – Ub – Michigan – maloney with some legs into bail, clean – DLO, chest a bit forward, small hop

Vore 9.900. Michigan 198.200.

Schulte – FX – MSU – chest up on full in landing, boucne – good straddle positions – front tuck through to double tuck, good secure landing. 9.900

Neither Michigan’s nor Minnesota’s score will move their current positions.

Hofelich – FX – MSU – double pike, controls landing, some feet – switch side to popa, clear positions – 1.5 to front lay, straight layout position, a little low – double tuck, chest down, secure landing

9.9 for her as MSU goes 197.050, waiting on Ohio State’s final.

That score will keep Michigan State in 12th, at least for the moment.

Ohio State finishes with a fall on beam, which means it’s a 196.700 final. That moves Ohio State ahead of Arizona State and Denver by the smallest margin and into 15th, but Arizona State and Denver still have to compete.

FINAL
1 – Michigan – 198.200
2 – Michigan State – 197.050
3 – Iowa – 196.950
4 – Minnesota – 196.725
5 – Ohio State – 196.700
6 – Maryland – 196.450
6 – Nebraska – 196.450
8 – Illinois – 195.825
9 – Rutgers – 195.750
10 – Penn State – 194.700

We’ve got some time before SECs and Pac-12s, so checking in on Big 12s now. Oklahoma has started on 9.875 on beam with Dunn.

San Jose State is done on 196.425. They didn’t end up needing a score today, but that would have done it anyway.

Levassuer – BB – OU – up 3rd, after two 9.875s – I don’t think you can be an “unsung hero” if you are getting 10s, that’s pretty sung – bhs loso series, lean correction – switch to straddle 1/4, nice back leg positions – aerial, a bit tentative but fine, connects to beat jump – bhs gainer full, stuck. 9.900

The pacing of this meet has been…….we have seen one routine since I turned it on, a while ago.

Still nothing has happened in this judging delay, so we’re back to Oklahoma on beam.

Woodard – BB – OU – nice full turn – side aerial to bhs, hit, knee on bhs – kickover, a bit ginger but connects into beat jump smoothly – switch to split, good back leg toe point – side aerial to layout full, holds the stick. 9.950

Mundell – FX – Denver – double pike, little bounce back – switch ring to switch 1/2 to wolf full, doesn’t really show a back leg split in the switch ring – front lay to front full, short, nearly buckles, step back – punch rudi is nice

Iowa State and West Virginia go 48.8s in their first rotations.

Smith – BB – OU – bhs loso, splits the beam and falls, but they had a 49.475 before that – another bend at the hips after her aerial – straddle 1/2, another large break, breaks connection into Korbut – sticks gainer full.

Thompson on floor for Denver ends with a front lay to rudi, good control – 9.850

Hutchinson – FX – Denver – front 2/1, easily completed, little bounce forward – 1.5 to layout, controlled – switch 1/2 to split leap full – rudi to straddle jump, good straddle position.

Hutchinson gets 9.925 so Denver will be in 2nd place on 49.225 after floor. Denver needs at very minimum 196.850 today to have a shot at a regionals seeding, so that’s above the necessary pace, just barely.

Rotation 2

“You know what’s fun? Winning is fun.” – KJ Kindler. That should be merch.

Hornung – UB – WVU – good distance on jaeger – bail, hit – just a bit of loose back moments here – front giant 1/2 to double tuck, holds stick, chest forward good. 9.800

Ruiz – VT – Denver – yfull large bounce back. 9.725

Steinmeyer – BB – ISU – kickover front to beat jump, secure – bhs loso, some feet, holds it well despite being a tad forward – switch to straddle 1/4, a bit tentative but no check – 1.5, nearly sticks, little movement back. 9.775

Woodard – FX – OU – punch front 2/1, slide forward – whip 1/2 to front full, well controlled – switch side to split jump full, good positions – front full to layout, legs together well. Nice one. 9.900

Mundell – VT – Denver – y1.5, hit, lands a little short with a step back. 9.850

Fletcher – FX – OU – whip to double tuck, slide – front lay to front full, slightly soft in the layout, controlled – switch 1/2 to popa, solid popa position – 2.5, little movement. 9.850

Denver on 48.975 on vault, which takes them off the scoring pace for now, so bars will have to bring it back well over 49.

Bowers – FX – OU – pretty double pike, controlled landing – front 2/1 to front tuck, pulls it around, not the highest punch but fine – clear leap 180s. 9.950

West Virginia went 49.200 on bars, getting close to Denver there.

Smith – FX – OU – double tuck, bounce back – 1.5 to front lay, nice and floaty – switch side and wolf full, good – double pike, strong. 9.950

Looks like George Washington is going to win EAGLs with 196.325

Sievers – FX – OU – lands her FTDT under control – front tuck through to double tuck, gets a little low but pulls it out – switch side to wolf full to popa – some slightly ragged moments but solid.

Oklahoma is on 99.075 after two, so watch out for that. 49.600 on floor. OK.

And now it’s time to shift major focus to the Pac-12s and SECs.

This time I’m doing Pac-12 Network main feed on the TV, and streaming the SEC quad box.

Still lots of moving parts in the regionals seeding department that we’ll have to watch over the next two hours.

SEC and Pac-12 Session 2

Rotation 1

O’Keefe – VT – Utah – yfull chest somewhat down, bounce back

Johnson – UB – LSU – started with going over on her first handstand and hops off – resumes, maloney to bail, a bit os loose back in maloney – as well as in final cast hs – DLO, hop forward, a little rushed after the miss.

Schoenherr – VT – Florida – larger bounce forward on Y1.5. Following 9.850 from Skaggs. Also 9.850 for her.

Hall falls on vault for Utah.

Olsen with a secure landing on front tuck through to double pike to finish on FX for Alabama.

Stanhope – VT – Utah – medium lunge forward on y1.5

Arenas – UB – LSU – hits first hs – toe on to tkatchev, solid amplitude – legs apart on pak – really struggles on dismount, chest down, lunge forward. 9.625 will count.

Wong – VT – Florida – ro 1/2 on pike 1/2, bounce back. 9.850

Gaskins – FX – Alabama – DLO, pikes it down some at the end to control the landing – switch to switch 1/2, looks good – fronbt tuck through to double tuck, chest down, controlled.

Bordas – UB – Cal – following a couple 9.925s in a row – goes over on her first hs and has to improvise with a 1/2 turn. Will need to drop that one.

reed – VT – Florida – stuck landing on y1.5, just some knees, good. 9.950

Dunne – UB – LSU – tkatchev to pak, good aggression – 1/2 turn on low is fine – a bit short on cast hs on high – DLO, some leg form, stuck landing.

Burch – VT – Utah – Y1.5 – solid landing on Y1.5, some knees – 9.925

Thomas – VT – Florida – stuck landing on her Y1.5, excellent – 9.975 for her.

McCallum – VT – Utah – Servente, bounce back, some direction, fine.

Machado knees down on her final pass on floor for Alabama.

Blakely – VT – FLorida – deep landing on Y1.5, pulls it out, but low and a slide back.

Bryant sticks double front 1/2 out on bars for LSU. Good one. 9.925

Utah out of vault with 49.275. Cal goes 49.425 on bars and drops Bordas’s score so will have a lead.

49.475 for Florida on vault.

Shchennikova – Ub – LSU – a bit short on first hs – Ray to pak is very good – 1/2 turn on low a bit late – tight on some handstands – DLO, usual piking, finds the stick.

We’re looking back at Williams on bars for Cal – pretty Maloney to pak, legs together – solid handstands, DLO, drops into the landing.

Carey – BB – Oregon State – smooth full turn – aerial, keeps arms moving to bhs loso – switch to switch 1/2, small check – gainer full, stuck. Good.

Durante – UB – LSU – blind to jaeger, a bit crooked but fine – pak is crazy, gets all high and straddle and misses her hand – disaster for LSU in first rotation.

McLaughlin is up 5th on beam for Auburn, following a 9.950 for Groth but needing to drop a fall from Bursch earlier – switch, small pause before bhs loso series, nice position and secure – beat to side aerial, clean – switch, small pause before straddle 1/4, good position – stuck gainer pike. 9.900

Hudson finishes floor for Alabama with a bounce back on double tuck. That event is behind because they had a long scoring delay for Machado’s 9.075

We’re waiting on Carey’s final score to come up on the live scores, but Oregon State and Cal should be similar at the top after 1.

9.950 for Carey with a check. Oregon State on 49.450, Cal on 49.425. Utah 49.275. ASU will be in 4th.

Lee – BB – Auburn – wolf single, good – aerial to bhs loso, way off and falls. Wow. Auburn counting a beam fall now –

Blanco – FX – Alabama – finishes double tuck, a bit forward with a step, front full to front lay, hit, legs somewhat apart – 9.875

Both LSU and Auburn counting falls in their first rotations.

Meanwhile Denver went 49.500 on bars, which is just what they needed to reignite the chance at a regionals seeding, but it will still take a hit beam. Oklahoma with a good shot at 198 today with normal bars for them.

LOLLL, Suni went 9.450 so Auburn is still just on 48.900.

Graber – full in, little slide back – switch side through to wolf 1.5, nice positions, element is around – front tuck through to double pike, slide back.

After 1 Pac-12s
Oregon State 49.450
Cal 49.425
Utah 49.275
Arizona State 48.975

After 1 SECs
Florida 49.475
Alabama 49.425
Auburn 48.900
LSU 48.575

I suppose Auburn might still be in it with help because it was nearly a 49 with a counting fall, but bascially SECs already looks like a two team race.

Rotation 2

Morgan – UB – Utah – maloney, some legs into bhardwaj, smooth, just slight leg crossing – good final cast hs – giant full, OK into double tuck, holds stick. 9.900

Clausi – BB – Cal – kickover, small hesitation working into beat jump – bhs loso, secure – switch to switch, good attention to back leg – side aerial to tuck full, holds the landing, rises up on toes. 9.900

McCallum’s score is posted as a 1.000. Is this a Nadia situation? I’m assuming based on the crowd reaction.

Bird FX – Oregon State – front lay to rudi to straddle jump, secure, some knee softness – switch 1/2 to popa, hit – 2.5 twist, crossed legs, crossover step.

Yes, McCallum’s score is now listed as a 10. Here we go. Replay of this routine. A bit borderline on final cast hs. Good landing.

Rotation 2 starting at SECs now.

Olsen – VT – Alabama -small slide back on DTY. 9.850

Blakely – UB – Florida – maloney, elgs apart into pak, solid – good final cast hs – 1/2 turn to double front, cowboy, step. 9.825

Desiderio sticks a gainer full on beam. Brusch a little short on final double pike on floor.

Quinn – VT – Alabama – Y1.5 – one tenth hop forward, some knees. 9.800

O’Keefe on bars for Utah, clean work, a little late on 1/2 turn on low, double arabian, step forward. Nice.

McCusker – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, hit – misses her foot and has to recast on low – hits van leeuwen – off on stalder and has to stop and recast again – does double tuck dismount. 9.750 is very loose.

Similar hop forward on VT for Paradise following Quinn

Li – BB – Cal – aerial to split jump, smooth – bhs loso, smallest little arm correction – beat to sheep, hit – gainer tuck full, lean to hold it

Graber – VT – Alabama – somewhat deep in Y1.5 landing, hop tot he side. I don’t see 9.900.

Schoenherr with a small step back on double front 1/2 dismount

Utah 49.550 on bars.

Blanco – VT – Alabama – clean in the air on Y1.5 but a large bound forward. 9.850

Alabaam 49.350 on vault.

Skaggs – UB – Florida – good first hs – tkatchev, good counter into pak, a lit of legs – rushes 1/2 turn on low bar some – DLO, legs, finds the stick well. And she goes 9.950.

Cal was able to drop Bordas on beam and go 49.375 there.

Thomas – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, nice – good hs on low – toe on to van leeuwen, clean – short cast hs on high – DLO, stuck. Lovely but did have a clear missed handstand in there.

Bryant sticks her rudi on beam for LSU. It has been a solid rotation through four.

Groth – FX – Auburn – front 2/1, bit of a slide forward – switch 1/2 to wolf full, good – 1/5 to front lay is a struggle, has to tuck the layout to get it around – rudi, little bounce

Dagen finishes floor for Oregon State with a double pike, chest a bit down, step

Wong goes deep on her DLO dismount on bars for Florida, bounce back. Still 9.900

Finnegan – BB – LSU – arm wave to hold it on her triple series – switch to split jump, good positions – full turn, little adjustment – aerial, hit – side aerial to tuck full, holds stickl

Carey – FX – Oregon State – double double, bounce back, just does keep it in bounds but does – front 1.5 to layout to sissone, layout is comfortable but not her highest – switch 1/2 to popa, good height – double tuck, small rebound. Good.

Lee finishes FX for Auburn with a very nice 1.5 to front full, good landing control.

Johnson – BB – LSU – full turn, good – bhs loso, secure landing – switch to switch, small check on landing – kickover right on, connects to beat jump – 1.5 dismount, step back

Gobourne – FX – Auburn – open double tuck, good – easy leap height – front full to layout, not her highest layout, has to whip it around some but maintains her layout position – double pike, solid

After 2 Pac 12s
Utah 98.825
Cal 98.800
Oregon State 98.800
Arizona State 98.225

So that’s close. Utah’s beam will tell us how this thing is going to go.

After 2 SECs
Florida 98.950
Alabama 98.775
Auburn 98.325
LSU 98.125

LSU gets a comeback score on beam, but they’re still going to have to be let into this one.

The final from Big 12s is
Oklahoma 198.200
Denver 197.250
West Virginia 196.650
Iowa State 196.100

With that, Oklahoma sets a new NQS record (pending Florida’s final score) on 198.140. Denver, most importantly, moves back into the seeded positions in 15th. Arizona State has been bumped to 17th now, so they’re looking to go over 196.6 today in order to bump out Ohio State.

Rotation 3

McCallum – BB – Utah – she’s following 9.925 for Morgan, so that’s something – candle mount, solid – wolf double, smooth – bhs loso, flexed feet, wobble, leg up, holds it – switch to stag, hit – cat leap to side aerial to layout full, stuck.

Gonzalez – VT – Oregon State – ro full on back pike, larger bounce back today.

graber comes very close on her pak on bars leading off for Alabama, basically has to stop her momentum and recast.

Skaggs clean on bhs loso series on beam – aerial, good – switch side, nice horizontal –

Dagen – VT – Oregon State – small hop to the side on y1.5, knees

Carey – VT – Oregon State – excellent height on DTY of course, bounce back,

Stevens – VT – Auburn – pretty secure y1.5 landing, a little movement, knees.

Blakely – BB – Florida – aerial, keeps moving into bhs – switch, small hesitation into switch 1/2 – side aerial to layout full, hops feet together – some hesitant moments but fine.

Gobourne – VT – Auburn – large lunge forward out of her Y1.5 –

Adams returns to the vault lineup for Alabama and comes through with a hit – a short cast hs in there.

Clark finishes Ub for Arizona State with a smooth DLO, little shuffle

Paulson gets 9.975 on beam for Utah.

Watson – VT – Auburn – hop to the side on y1.5, knees

Baumann – BB – FLorida – bhs loso series, solid – switch to split, good – aerail to beat jump, clean – side aerial, squeeze correction – 1.5, stuck, arm wave to hold the stick.

Lee – VT – Auburn – Lopez, mostly controlled, little moved and chest down

9.950 for Baumann, a bunch of 9.9s for Alabama on bars, so the usual. Nothing strange here.

Doggette – Ub – Alabama – good hs – tkatchev to pak, good amplitude and position – a bit shy on final cast hs – DLO

Wong – BB – FLorida – switch to split leap, pretty – bhs loso, right on – switch ring, solid, open back leg but fine – aerial, covers leg up check by stepping forward – 2/1, holds stick.

Doggette got another 9.950 for Alabama. Blanco anchor – maloney to pak, good form – 1/2 turn on low is solid – FTDT, slide back. And still 9.950.

Alabama 49.675 on bars. Remember back in that previous life when the first session of SECs was all realistically scored? LOL ME NEITHER.

9.975 for Wong.

Li – FX – Cal – front 2/1 is hit, a bit of legs – front full to front lay, controls step –

Thomas – BB – Florida – good control on series – aerial, keeps moving into beat jump Korbut – side aerial to layout full, stuck. 9.925

Florida already 49.700 on beam with Clapper still to come.

Bryant finishes FX with a secure rudi, a bit of legs.

Utah went 49.650 on beam, so that answered that. Oregon State 49.275 on vault. Cal currently on 49.225 on floor with Quinn still to come and a 9.750 to drop.

Clapper – BB – Florida – bhs loso loso, small arm wave to hold it, some knees – switch, a pause before split jump, borderline credit, but given the scoring right now, I’m assuming no one will care – side aerial to full, stuck.

Quinn – FX – Cal – front lay to rudi, controls the front foot -double pike very secyre

Kiya Johnson – FX – LSU – brings out the full in, high, bounce back –  second pass 1.5 to front layout, gets fairly low, pulls it around – switch 1/2 to wolf full is good – double pike is very solid

So, after rotation 3 at SECs, it’s 9.950 you, 9.950 me, 9.950 everybodyyyy.

After 3 SECs
Florida 148.650
Alabama 148.450
Auburn 147.550
LSU 147.450

So this is a Florida Alabama race now, but it’s being kept close.

After 3 Pac-12s
Utah 148.475
Cal 148.200
Oregon State 148.075
Arizona State 147.450

They’re keeping it semi-close to Utah, but with Utah going to floor and Cal and Oregon State both going to lower scores, this is moving in a specific direction. Cal in good position to move ahead of Kentucky for 9th place and move into the Oklahoma regional with a hit vault.

Oregon State in good position to supplant UCLA and change which regionals they go to, so this thing is very live.

Meanwhile Utah State is winning MRGC after 3.

Rotation 4

Sadighi – VT – Cal – she’s in for Li today – yfull – pretty solid, chest down, slide back, but not too large. 9.825

Paulson – FX – Utah – front tuck through to 2.5, larger lunge forward – front lay to front full, controls the step – switch full to sissone, hit – 1.5 to front layout, also under control

Bordas – VT – Cal – solid amplitude but a fairly distinct bounce back.Still goes 9.850

Arenas – VT – LSU – goes hard for the stick on her yfull but chest well down

Burgess – BB – Alabama – one arm bhs to loso, secure – cat leap, low into switch side, hit – switch to beat, clean – stuck full dismount. 9.900

Shchennikova with a larger lunge forward on Y1.5.

Skaggs comes up a little short on final pass on floor, saves it with a step.

KJ Johnson sticks her yfull for LSU, very nice

Olsen – BB – Alabama – switch to switch 1/2, secure, a bit low – bhs loso, hit – only a small hop back on double pike dismount

Baumann – FX – Florida – 1.5 to front full, slide forward, not large – L turn to full turn – switch full to sissone, good splits, a bit of feet – double pike, bounce back, keeps it in bounds

Cal is done on 197.425, which will do the job for moving ahead of Kentucky.

Alabama and Florida traded 9.900s in the first spot.

Kiya Johnson with a bounce back on her DTY.

Olsen 9.875 in the second spot for Alabama, Baumann 9.850 for Florida

Graber – BB – Alabama – bhs lay-pike, secure landing

Brusch sticks DLO on bars in what has been a good rotation.

WHATTTT happened to Bryant on vault. She only did a handspring tuck and collapsed on landing. She looks OK? But LSU had a very no good, very bad day –

Wong finishes with double pike on floor for Florida, chest down, sells it with a lunge.

Auburn has a couple 9.950s already on bars and Suni still has to go.

LSU is done with 196.725.

Waligora – BB – Alabama – bhs loso series, solid, some knees – side aerial, smooth – split jump to tuck jump full, pulls it around –

Lee – UB – Auburn – maloney to pak to van leeuwen, great – pulls up that final cast hs – FTDT, stuck. Nice.

It’s 10.000 for her. You knew it would be after those 9.950s.

Carey goes 9.925 on bars to get Oregon State to 197.250 final.

Reed finishes FX for Florida with a double pike, bounce back

Hudson – BB – Alabama – aerial, check before bhs loso series, secure landing – switch to switch, solid – side aerial, nice – 1.5, leans over to try to holds the stick.

Thomas – FX – Florida – DLO, step back, keeps front foot down – split leap full to popa to popa, so high – front full to layout, good layout position – a bit deep

Still goes 9.975 of course, which will clinch it for Florida.

Blanco – BB – Alabama – aerial, nice – bhs loso loso, pretty work – switch to beat, good back leg toe point on switch leap – 2/1 dismount and her knee collapses. She’s down injured. Well I hate it.

Blakely – FX – Florida – double arabian, deep, hop to the side and shuffle adjustment with leg – switch ring, shows ring, foot flexing – double tuck, short, lunge forward – 1.5 to layout, legs apart on layout.

For me that wouldn’t be a counter (we’ll see…) so that would mean Florida finishes on 198.200, exactly the same as Michigan and Oklahoma.

Under the radar result there for Arizona State as they did just enough to move to 16th. Oregon State moves ahead of UCLA. Alabama moves ahead of both LSU and Auburn.

REGIONALS:

Oklahoma: Oklahoma, Minnesota, Cal, Arizona State
Auburn: Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Denver
NC State: Michigan, LSU, Missouri, UCLA
Washington: Utah, Alabama, Michigan State, Oregon State

So that’s where we are. I’m sure there’s more to say. Popping over to GymCastic Live in a minute.
