First things first, I’ve jumped back to an old look to the site today, which will hopefully resolve some of the issues people have been experiencing getting on, and should be better phone-wise. What with the whippersnappers and their mobiles.

Second things second, we have no scores or stream for Metroplex. Only what the teams put out on socials afterward, which is fun for us. Utah has updated that McCallum was injured on vault. I blame that we can’t see the meet for this.

Third things third, the meets we can actually watch today and whether we’ll get more wildly impossible scores. Who can say. Not sure yesterday’s Florida meet can be topped though.

UCLA will have Harris and Chiles in the AA today and Campbell back on three events.

Utah leads Metroplex after two rotations with 98.525 after 48.975 on vault and 49.550 on bars. Georgia is under 196 pace after beam and floor so will need to pick up the scores on vault and bars. Illinois just about on 196 pace.

Sports networks are always showing things like “Top 10 Football Horses” before gymnastics, and it’s just so deeply depressing that that’s popular enough to be worth being on TV.

This thing they’re showing on P12 Insider right now sure is about volleyball…

UCLA has tweeted that they are aware that they are making Metroplex a role model with this broadcast right now, and they’re not happy about it.

So looks like the meet has started because Frazier has 9.775 on vault, but we’re still not seeing anything. May just wait around typing in scores like the olden days until something starts.

Frazier 9.775, Anyimi 9.725, Lee 9.750.

Reeves 9.800, Samiley 9.875.

UCLA twitter trying to create chaos by saying that Chae Campbell went 9.850 for a stuck yfull.

We’re live for Jodran Chiles to vault – DTY nearly completely stuck landing, chest forward today, tried to hold into step salute.

Clark – UB – ASU – blind to jaeger, solid toe point – pak, leg separation – 1/2 turn on low – DLO, legs apart a bit, lands short, chest forward with a step salute.

So we have UCLA on 49.125 on vault thanks to that Chiles 9.950. That Clark routine goes 9.850, putting Arizona State on 49.425 on bars with a big lead after 1.

In other news, Maile O’Keefe got another 10.000 on beam as Utah goes 49.575 there.

Theodorou hit bars in exhibition for ASU.

Georgia goes 48.925 on vault, which will keep them behind Illinois after three and just a tenth ahead of Illinois State.

Rotation 2

Reeves – VT – ASU – hits a yfull with a bounce back, clear straddle on the block – some pike down to finish. 9.725

Campbell – UB – UCLA – shortish first hs – maloney to bail, hit, small leg break in maloney – good final cast hs on high – blind to double front, cowboy, small step back. 9.850

White – VT – ASU – clean yfull in the air, bounce back. 9.775

Steele – UB – UCLA – good first hs – maloney, legs apart into pak, good height – 1/2 turn on low, a bit late – DLO dismount, chest down, step forward. 9.825

Mangahas – VT – ASU – nice open at the end of her yfull, bounce back, good position. 9.825

Padurariu – UB – UCLA – good first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, nice legs together position throughout – hits hs on high – FTDT, shuffle back. 9.900

Smith – VT – ASU – Y1.5 with a nice stick, excellent. 9.850 is VERY tight for that nationally.

Harris – UB – UCLA – good first hs – Ray is hit – good verticals – legs together on bail – giant full, good finish position into DLO, solid landing. 9.950

Theodorou – VT – ASU – ro 1/2 on tuck 1/2 – medium bounce back – nice attention to maintaining her layout shape on the vault longer. 9.825

Chiles – UB – UCLA – good first hs – piked tkatchev to pak, lovely – hits hs on low – maloney to gienger, strong – FTDT, holds the stick, possible landing control adjustment. 9.975 for her.

Scharf – VT – ASU – really nice stick on her yfull. Pretty, good height, not the most distance. 9.850

Frazier – UB – UCLA – some angle in first hs – maloney to pak, legs in maloney, lovely pak – 1/2 turn on low – DLO, hop back. 9.900

UCLA takes the lead with 49.575 on bars. Arizona State goes 49.125 on vault. Bars scoring…definitely looser than vault from what we saw in that rotation.

I’m not saying I’m going to put Chloi Clark’s vault next to Anaya Smith’s vault and say “just two 9.850s.” I’m not saying I’m going to do that.

After 2:
UCLA 98.700
Arizona State 98.550

Rotation 3

Lee – BB – UCLA – bhs loso, nice amplitude, good control – switch, small hesitation on landing before straddle jump, well executed – aerial to split jump, good – bhs gainer full, slides heels together. Comfortable start. 9.900

Lee – FX – ASU – front 2/1, hit with crossover step – 1.5 to front lay, slight leg separation in layout – switch ring to switch 1/2, some back leg position – rudi. 9.800

Alipio – BB – UCLA – full turn – aerial, keeps moving into back tuck, little lean – split leap to switch 1/2, pretty nice toe attention and then kind of a large wobble moving on the beam – aerial, hit to split jump, small correction – gainer tuck full dismount, holds stick. 9.800

So this guy thinks Ciena Alipio is Emily Lee right? OK.

Clark – FX – ASU – double pike, nice feet, chest a bit forward – back 1.5 to lay, good height on 1.5, lower on the lay – switch ring, front leg down – double tuck, flexed feet, secure landing. 9.850

Alipio’s score bumped up to 9.825.

Padurariu – BB – UCLA – good candle mount – wolf double, hit, some arm control in progress – side aerial to bhs is secure – switch, pause check before beat jump, which is connected to sheep jump with a wobble after – 1.5 dismount, large lunge forward. 9.675

Jaslow – FX – ASU – nice amplitude and feet in double pike, under control – switch side to popa, under on the popa – front lay to front full, solid – double tuck, bounce back. 9.875

Chiles – BB – UCLA – aerial to bhs loso, holds it without a check, some leg form – switch to wolf jump, very good – full turn, good – side aerial, secure – double pike, hop back. 9.900

White – FX – ASU – front 2/1 is pretty, fully around – back 1.5 to lay, crisp layout, lunge forward on landing – switch ring to switch 1/2, nice – front full to front lay, solid. Lovely work. 9.825 with a 9.900/9.750 split. I’m more with the 9.9 judge there.

Harris – BB – UCLA – bhs loso bhs, right on – switch to split leap to full turn, pretty smooth – kickover, holds it onto her toes – 1.5 dismount, stuck. Nice. 9.950

Mangahas – FX – ASU – FTDT, landed, but fairly deep in the legs and chest there – front tuck with some foot form through to to double tuck, hit – finishes switch 1/2 to wolf full wolf full. 9.850

Malabuyo – BB – UCLA – wolf single – bhs loso, secure, lovely foot positions – aerial to beat jump with a wobble afterward – split jump to split ring, another small foot reposition – gainer full. 9.850

Scharf – FX – ASU – front tuck through to double tuck, slide back – front full to front tuck, smooth and comfortable – switch 1/2 to wolf full, shows positions well – double pike, little rebound. 9.900

UCLA 49.425 on beam to ASU 49.300 on floor.

After 3:
UCLA 148.125
Arizona State 147.850

Meanwhile it looks like Utah won Metroplex with 197.600, Illinois took second, Georgia in 3rd just scraping over 196, and Illinois State in 4th.

Michigan State and Iowa are underway. Zuhlke hit her vault with a hop back for 9.825.

Michigan State has a fall from Kellerman in the second spot on bars on her jaeger. Resumed and redoes the jaeger and hits. Clean bail – gaint full, a bit late into double tuck, hop forward. 9.075

Laplante – VT – Iowa – yfull, bounce back, out of the directional area. 9.725

Judges conference on Kellerman’s bars. Making sure one of them didn’t accidentally give a perfect score?

Arizona State score adjustment, Emily White up to 9.875, which is good. I did think that score was too low.

Stephen rights things for Michigan State on bars in the third spot with a secure hit.

Muñoz with a bounce back on her yfull for Iowa for 9.850. Important routine for Jackard in the 4th spot for Michigan State, and she gets her jaeger today – a hit, just deep on her double tuck dismount with a hop forward.

Zivat 5th on vault for Iowa, holds a very good stick on her Tsuk full, just a bit chest forward and some legs at the end. Quite nice. 9.900

Rotation 4 – ASU/UCLA

K Lee – BB – ASU – full turn, hit – bhs bhs loso, wobble, bend at the hips, arm wave – split with low back leg to sheep, check – 1.5 dismount, not a lot of rise there, step. 9.700

Henderson nearly sticks her yfull for Iowa, small movement back, for 9.900 to take them to 49.250.

E Lee – FX – UCLA – double tuck, controls the front foot, good toes in the air – front lay to front full, not the highest but fine, hit in control, a bit of knees – switch ring to switch 1/2, no trouble – double pike, hop back, kept it in bounds. 9.900. They’re ready for the 10s.

Harkness finished bars for Michigan State with 9.850 to avoid counting the fall and tie Iowa on 49.250.

Harper – BB – ASU – kickover to bhs, connected with good speed – full turn, hit – cat leap to switch 1/2, well under split, wobble – bhs gainer full, step back. 9.725

Malabuyo – FX – UCLA – double tuck, chest up well, little rebound – back 1.5 to front lay, good control and extended layout position – switch ring to switch 1/2, pretty work on both – double pike, hit, a bit forward. 9.900

Reeves – BB – ASU – bhs bhs loso, lots of tucking the back leg by the end – switch to split, back leg, secure – full turn, very slightly tentative – aerial is hit – 1.5, stuck. 9.725

Harris – FX – UCLA – FTDT, stuck landing, chest down, some leg separation at the end – double tuck, same, stuck landing, no movement, should deduct for chest position – split full to popa to shushunova – back 1.5 to 1/2 to double stag. 9.875. With a 9.950/9.800 split.

Clark – BB – ASU – full turn, hit – bhs loso, good height – split jump to stag ring, also secure – aerial, small waver – bhs 1.5, was a little short but did well to hold onto the stick. 9.850

Frazier – FX – UCLA – whip through to double tuck, slide back – almost tripped going into her dance series again but the trip was earlier and she got her legs together this time – double pike, controls front foot. 9.950

White – BB – ASU – bhs loso, lovely leg position, such a form highlight on this team – full turn, good – aerial to beat, smooth – split hump to stag ring, check – bhs 1.5, step forward. 9.825

Chiles – FX – UCLA – DLO, right on – front tuck through to double tuck, controls front foot – split leap full ish to wolf full, some control on the dance combination – double pike, solid landing, chest up. Great tumbling. Maybe wouldn’t be a 10 for me because of the dance combo control, but our angle isn’t the best.

And she gets 10.000. It was there right from the start of this rotation.

Schar f- BB – ASU – hits wolf double – bhs loso series, leg tucking there, secure landing – side somi, small check to hold it – switch to split, under control – 1.5, stuck. Good finish. 9.875

Arizona State 49.000 on beam for a very useful 196.900 road score.

Campbell – FX – UCLA – FTDT, chest down, step forward, so it won’t be consecutive 10s – split leap full to popa was quite nice – front lay to front full, pretty layout leg position – double tuck, a little deep, controls the step. 9.925.

UCLA goes 49.675 on floor to finish on 197.800 today. Usable scores for both teams.

FINAL:
UCLA 197.800
Arizona State 196.900

Michigan State and Iowa are deep int he second rotation now, the vault highlight for MSU being a stuck yfull from Schulte that went 9.900.

Nikki Smith is 5th on vault, holds onto her Y1.5 landing but was short with a slide back, good form in the air. 9.800

We have another long judges conference on bars at this meet.

Kenlin – UB – Iowa – good first hs – toe on to maloney to pak, smooth, some leg separations – wobble arm wave stepping up to high bar – toe one, a bit late, pulls in her double tuck to find the stick and does. 9.800

Stephen finishes vault for MSU with a good yfull, high, bounce back.

Michigan State 49.200 on vault.

Muñoz – UB – Iowa – hop  grip change to piked jaeger, hit, not the highest but fine – bail, large leg break in the air – clear hip to DLO, nice stick.

She goes 9.850 to get Iowa to 49.025 on bars but they will fall behind MSU after 2.

After 2:
Michigan State 98.450
Iowa 98.275

Rotation 3

Henderson – BB – Iowa – full turn, hit – bhs loso, good height, controls the landing – switch to straddle 1/4, arm wave wobble – double tuck, bounce back. 9.800

Nyah Smith – FX – MSU – front tuck through to double tuck, good control, chest up – switch side to popa, pretty popa position, a little shorter in switch side – 1.5 to front lay, lay gets a little lower – double pike, lunge back OOB. 9.675

Zuhlke – BB – Iowa – large break on her loso series and falls, took it right to the end/side – switch to split 3/4 – slide back on gainer full dismount. 9.050

Kalefe – FX – MSU – front 2/1, little slide forward – oh no, the main guy was right and the other one was wrong in the commentary, that’s a deduction landing  – switch to wolf full, pretty low wolf full position – rudi to loso, oh looks like her foot got caught in the extra mat and she couldn’t punch into her loso, knee down. 8.925

Ebeling – BB – Iowa – bhs loso, pretty position, secure – split jump to split ring to beat jump, nice – aerial, loses leg form there and a wobble – gainer pike, holds the stick. 9.800

Harkness – FX – MSU – FTDT, another bounce back OOB for her – switch to split leap full to wolf jump full, excellent positions – front tuck through to double tuck, solid landing. 9.725

Nick – BB – Iowa – we’re joining all of these beam routines late – bhs loso, secure – hits full turn – aerial, good extension – 1.5 dismount with a step-salute. 9.850

Stephen – FX – MSU – front tuck through to double pike, pretty large bounce back, does keep that one in bounds, but they’re all having trouble with this floor so far – hits her dance combination – front 2/1, around. 9.850

Rojas – BB – Iowa – full turn – bhs bhs loso and falls, so that will be a counting fall for Iowa – switch, pause before split jump 3/4, so that could be another score issue – gainer full, hit. 9.000

Nikki Smith – FX – MSU – FTDT, small hop to present – switch 1/2 to popa – back 1.5 to front lay, slide forward – double tuck, chest up, solid final pass. 9.875

Kenlin – BB – Iowa – bhs loso, hit smoothly – aerial to split jump to split 3/4, lovely on all – full turn, elegant movement out – gainer full, stuck. Exceptional routine. 9.950

Iowa counts a fall on beam though for 48.450 there.

Sounds like a 10.000/9.900 split on Kenlin.

Schulte – FX – MSU – FTDT, pretty much holds front foot down, steps after – switch 1/2 to popa to popa is well done – front tuck through to double tuck, again nearly shows full control, but….

Iowa has a beam grab from Bradford in the exhibition spot.

9.850 for Schulte on floor, MSU goes 48.975 there after some trouble at the beginning of the lineup.

After 3:
Michigan State 147.425
Iowa 146.725

Rotation 4

Kalefe – BB – MSU – full turn, check – bhs bhs loso and she also falls there – switch to tuck jump full, a bit underrotated there with a wobble – gainer full, step back. 8.850

Castillo – FX – Iowa – front tuck through to double pike, secure landing, a bit of chest position – switch side to straddle jump, overturns the switch side some – double tuck, controls step.

Jackard – BB – MSU – bhs loso series, chest down, saves it with a small check – switch to straddle 1/4, secure – cat leap to side aerial, and she falls as well, nearly saved the aerial with a big arm wave, but now we’ve got a counting fall for MSU. A full BBS happening at this meet – split to sissone, good – gainer pike, stuck landing. 8.925 that counts

Delay on Castillo’s score but she ends up with 9.925, so I feel like they were OK with it.

Libby – FX – Iowa – front 2/1, bit of a crossover step after, nice landing though – back 1.5 to layout, some leg position in the 1.5 – switch ring to switch 1/2, good – rudi, chest down some, solid routine. 9.800

Schulte – BB – MSU – full turn, nice – cartwheel to knee becomes a bit of a problem, check – switch to switch 1/2, keeps moving through a check into beat jump – bhs loso is secure – switch to gainer full, stuck, chest forward. 9.800

Zivat – FX – Iowa – front tuck through to double tuck, good control on landing, chest up – split leap full to jump full, gets the turns around – rudi to loso, leg crossing in rudi. 9.825

Nikki Smith – BB – MSU – bhs loso, check – switch, small correction before straddle 1/4 – full turn – double tuck, really good, chest up, slide back

Muñoz – FX – Iowa – front tuck through to double tuck, small front foot movement – switch 1/2 to wolf jump full, pulls around – double pike, pretty large bounce back, stays in bounds – split leap 1.5 to finish, under rotation by a bit. 9.775

Judge conference on Nikki Smith’s beam, could be discussing dance series credit.

Ends up getting 9.825, so whatever they were talking about, she won.

Stephen – BB – MSU – aerial to 2 feet, hit with a small lean – full turn – bhs loso series, good height, just a bit of back leg at the end – beat to split 1/2, secure – good control on 2/1 dismount, maybe small movement. 9.900

Kenlin – FX – Iowa – front 2/1, pretty and actually all the way around – switch to split ring leap full – 1.5 to layout, crisp layout position. 9.925

Garcia – BB – MSU – full turn, smooth – bhs loso, elegant, comfortable – aerial, check before split jump – switch to split, nice – gainer full, hop back. 9.850

Henderson – FX – Iowa – FTDT, chest up, little rebound – switch side to popa to popa, good straddle positions shown – front tuck through to double tuck, chest up, controlled, really strong finish.

9.950 for Henderson, gets Iowa 49.425 on beam and the meet win.

FINAL
Iowa 196.150
Michigan State 195.725

A season low for both teams on account of the beam and whatnot.
