Kind of a lot going on in score land today. Heading into the day, Oregon State sat in 18th in the in-progress rankings after being passed by Georgia, but since Ohio State didn’t move, a 197.050 will be enough to jump ahead of both Georgia and Ohio State.
Minnesota, meanwhile, is already ahead of Georgia and needs 197.100 in order to pass Ohio State and secure a top-16 spot for this week.
Alabama has currently been dropped to 8th by Denver and needs 197.750 today to regain that #7 ranking.
Cal has secured 2nd place for next Monday, and a 198.550 today (I know, but they got 198.500 on Friday) would sew up the #2 ranking for the end of the season.
Breaking development that Oregon State was on track to get that goal score but had a TIME of it on beam so won’t be able to pass Ohio State. Even Jade’s 9.925 beam only brought the score up to 196.775, which puts them on an NQS of 197.050. Enough to pass Georgia for 17th but not enough to get at Ohio State or Minnesota in the seeded spots this week.

Hudson – UB – Alabama – good first hs – toe on to maloney, legs break, into bail, small pike in the air gets to vertical – good feet throughout – giant full, slight back position, into double tuck, deeper, holds onto landing. 9.825
Wells – VT – OU – y1.5, good one, small hop forward and some knee position. 9.900
Lacoursiere – UB – Alabama – maloney to pak, legs together – nice hs on low – van leeuwen, legs together – bit shy on final cast hs – FTDT, better today, nearly had a stick but ended up with a couple arm circles and a hop back. 9.850
Bowers – VT – OU – y1.5, nearly sticks it, little shuffle forward, similar landing to Wells but a bit more in the laid out position. 9.925
Adams – UB – Alabama – good first hs – maloney to pak, smooth, good combo – 1/2 turn on low, very nice vertical – small back position in cast hs – giant full to double tuck, small slide back. 9.925
Levasseur – VT – OU – y1.5, beautiful in the air, nearly found the stick, rises up onto her feet and doesn’t control the salute. 9.900

Alabama with a smooth bars rotation will have the lead after 1 with a 49.500. Oklahoma 49.450 on vault, a solid rotation, though sans sticks, that I also thought was pretty reasonably evaluated.
I enjoy Aly’s accurate reaction to Dave’s piece being, “Oh, I’ve definitely screwed up my body with this sport.”

Levasseur – UB – OU – good first hs – toe on to tkatchev hit – bail, perfect – hits hs on high – giant full, great finish, into double tuck, stuck. For me, that was stronger than Sievers but not a 10 so no room to score it if you already went 9.950 for Sievers. 9.975, so one judge went 10.
Lacoursiere – VT – Alabama – yfull, lands a bit deep in the knees with a bounce back. 9.750
Torrez – UB – OU – hits first hs – Ray, good – toe on to pak, wayyy high, loses leg form and can’t catch. Finishes with a stuck DLO. 9.275

9.925 is fine with me as a score for that routine, but it’s not appropriately ranked because yes you can take deductions on Davis’s bars, but if you’re not taking, say, body position on Smith’s dismount (which is improved but still there), then why are you not forgiving the similarly small issues for Davis?
