The Florida regional has gone to plan so far, with all the seeded teams advancing to today’s regional final. Now, your chaos may begin.

Michigan State will start on vault, with Utah on bars, Florida on beam, and Missouri on floor. Missouri’s 49.575 floor is the highest NQS among the teams on their opening events, but they’ll need to get the scores to show up the way they didn’t in the semifinal.

Rotation 1

Schulte – VT – MSU – yfull, solid one, good distance, very small movement on landing. 9.850

Smith – UB – Utah – pak, legs together well – toe on to van leeuwen, solid – overbalances hs on high and has to take an extra swing – toe on to toe pike, 1/2. 9.500.

Draser – BB – Florida – bhs loso, secure – switch to switch 1/2, under control, foot flexing – full turn, hit – 1.5 dismount, stuck. 9.900

Schreiber – FX – Missouri – front lay to front full to stag, pretty – rudi to layout to split jump, controls to keep it in – switch full to split full, good positions. 9.900

Tucker – VT – MSU – y1.5, lands short with a lunge back. 9.825

Blakely – BB – Florida – aerial to bhs, solid – split leap to switch 1/2 to beat, holds it, some feet in switch 1/2 – full turn, slight hesitation – gainer full, stuck. 9.925

Zirbes – UB – Utah – hits first hs – Ray, hit into pak – short 1/2 turn position on low – a bit quick through hs on high – FTDT, step back. 9.825

Kratzer – FX – Missouri – whip to double tuck, controls front foot, flexing – switch 1/2 to popa, around –  double pike – back 1.5 to lay, controls it – solid landings, mostly some foot things. 9.850

Zsarmani – VT – MSU – y1.5, stuck, very good one. 9.950

Morgan – UB – Utah – hits hs – maloney with some leg separation, connects to bhardwaj – van leeuwen, another small leg break – stalder tuck 1/2, small adjustment. 9.825

Pilgrim – BB – Florida – bhs loso, smooth landing – full turn – beat to aerial, smooth – switch to split leap, nice – gainer full, stuck. 9.900

Horton – FX – Missouri – FTDT, chest up well – switch side 1/2 to wolf full, around – double tuck, good open out of it. 9.900

Stephen – VT – MSU – y1.5, good form and height but a huge lunge forward. 9.825 is pretty big for that landing

O’Keefe – UB – Utah – maloney to pak, nice height, small leg break – 1/2 turn on low is definitely past vertical – hits hs on high – double arabian, finds the stick. 9.875

Nguyen – BB – Florida – hits onodi to bhs – full turn, hit – switch to split jump, very nice – bhs 1.5, small movement on landing. 9.925

Missouri 49.525
Michigan State 49.425
Utah 48.975

Obviously the news there is Utah counting an error for 9.500 on bars to drop way back after 1. The scores have been…not subtle overall?…so they’ll know there are huge numbers to be snatched on the remaining events, but that’s true for all the teams. The chaos has begun. Utah will have to make tenths back on beam now.

Utah thanking the voodoo that beam proved such a problem for Michigan State and Missouri. I think Missouri probably still has a light case for 2nd place here if you go back, but they really had a time on beam and got some get-away-with-it scores for Davis and Celestine as well.

Now to the final final, where Cal and Denver no longer have to think about dealing with UCLA, but does Stanford’s evening 197.600 yesterday compared to Denver and Arizona State’s day 197.275/197.150 tell us anything?

Trinidad – BB – Stanford – in for Roberts – bhs loso, big break, step back

Clark – UB – ASU – blind to jaeger, lovely – hits hs on high – pak, high, small leg break – hits hs on high – DLO, good amplitude, deeper in the landing, holds onto it. 9.825

Hutchinson – FX – Denver – front 2/1, looks like she controlled the step forward – switch 1/2 to split full, good – back 1.5 to layout, good landing – rudi to straddle jump, shows control. 9.950

After 3
Cal 148.600
Denver 148.075
Stanford 147.975
Arizona State 147.675

Denver picks up a tenth on Stanford there, but now Stanford goes to floor and Denver has to land some vaults.

Rotation 4

Brusch – VT – Denver – yfull, good distance, little bounce back, some chest position. 9.850

Lauzon – UB – Cal – toe on to maloney to pak, hit – hits hs on high – FTDT, stuck. 9.850

Lee – BB – ASU – split leap to full turn, good – bhs bhs loso, secure, just some chest position – beat to sheep jump, solid – sticks 1.5 dismount. 9.900

Zeng – FX – Stanford – front lay to rudi, controls the step back – double tuck, solid. 9.900

Ulrich – VT – Denver – handspring pike 1/2, just a little shorter than her usual but not too big on the bounce back, chest down. 9.850

Cluck – FX – Stanford – DLO, slide back, flag up – 1.5 to front pike, solid – back 1.5 to front pike is under control – switch 1/2 to popa, solid – double tuck, secure landing

I want a replay of that OOB.

Casali – VT – Denver – y1.5, gets it but ends up with a slide back, some knees – 9.825

Clark – BB – ASU – full turn – bhs bhs loso, secure – small check on stag ring – aerial – front gainer full, step forward. 9.775

Frazier – UB – Cal – maloney to pak, hit – DLO, can’t quite hold stick with a step back. 9.900

Mundell – VT – Denver – finds the landing on her y1.5, just a bit of knee and direction. 9.900

Neault – FX – Stanford – double pike, under control, chest forward – switch to split ring full, some control on landing – rudi, solid landing – back 1.5 to front lay, a little lower in layout. 9.900

Scharf – BB – ASU – wolf double, hit – bhs loso, check – switch to split is hit – gets 1.5 landing –

Perea – UB – Cal – toe on to pak, good – van leeuwen, legs together – solid hs on high – DLO, maybe a little rebound. 9.950

Hutchinson – VT – Denver – y1.5, great stick, just the leg break on the repulsion. 9.950

Denver done on 197.450

Roberts – FX – Stanford – front lay to rudi, good control – switch 1/2 to popa, lovely positions – doubel tuck, borderline whether she kept that front foot down, good chest position. 9.950 for her.

White – BB – ASU – she’s off working out of her loso series to finish the meet.

Widner would need 9.900 to take it. Actually 9.875 because of tiebreak.

Williams – UB – Cal – maloney to pak, nice – hits 1/2 turn on low – good hs on high – DLO, stuck. 9.950

Widner – FX – Stanford – front lay to front full, good control – switch 1/1, good position, gets it around – double pike, got the landing – switch 1/2 to popa, nice. That will do it for Stanford easily.

And it’s 10.000 for Widner.

FINAL:
Cal 198.275
Stanford 197.575
Denver 197.450
Arizona State 196.750

You just feel like having to work against those falls in three rotations hurt Denver as most of them kind of tightened up after those falls, not enough for big mistakes, but enough to give up bits and pieces.
