About
The beam code of points does not differentiate the values of back saltos in tucked, piked, or layout stepout positions. They’re all the same. And when it comes to mounts, they’re all extremely valuable. In 2017, these mounts were upgraded to E (0.5), making them worth two tenths more than they are when performed on the beam itself.

While this caused a massive increase in popularity of the layout stepout mount, the same is not true for the back tuck, which has remained relatively rare. It’s not completely extinct, but nearly every gymnast electing to do a mount like this will do it as a layout stepout.
