About
There was a time when cartwheels were a staple on beam. If you weren’t doing a cartwheel at least somewhere in your routine, get out of the 1972 Olympic final. The cartwheel as a mount hung around for some gymnasts through the late 70s and into the 80s, but in modern gymnastics, the cartwheel on beam is a “no hands or don’t bother” situation.
But still, a regular cartwheel as a mount is a thing you can do. So, memo to all the gymnasts out there who are opening a can of dried prunes as a beam mount. I know you can do a cartwheel because you are an elite gymnast. This would be more visually pleasant than whatever you’re doing now.
