About
The back 2/1 was all the rage at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, and if you want to start an old fight for no reason, you should definitely proclaim that Joan Moore’s 2/1 was superior to Ludmila Tourischeva’s. Oh, it would be sooooo on if anyone cared.

These days, we don’t see a ton of back 2/1s on floor. While it’s a C element for 0.3 and lots of gymnasts will be fine counting a C element in their floor routines, the equally valued back 1.5 has less complex twisting and lands forward, which is typically more convenient for connecting out of. So, we see a lot of back 1.5s and not so many back 2/1s outside the ranks of juniors who are working to build difficulty.
