The double pike had only the smallest footprint in elite gymnastics in recent years because of its C value and the composition requirement punishment for doing a dismount less than D. We still saw it, but only from those who were like, “Hold up, this isn’t going to be a good score, just so you all know” about bars.
That’s still sort of the case, but most gymnasts are going to be fine counting a couple C elements in their routines now, so dismounting with one isn’t really a composition problem post-2016. C dismounts are certainly on the rise.
