The other high-to-low release! Because of ugh, we typically see only two releases from high to low in elite gymnastics, the Pak and the bail. Other options do actually exist, however, and one of them is the Ezhova: basically a pak but coming from the other direction and involving a half turn.

The only problem is that there are not many connection-worthy skills that finish facing the proper direction to connect into a Ezhova. The exception is a Tkatchev to mixed grip, which is why the major gymnasts performing the Ezhova in recent years have been people like Tweddle, Dowell, and Derwael, gymnasts who do perform a Tkatchev to mixed.

I would not mind seeing the Ezhova upgraded to an E to provoke more gymnasts to consider finding a way to do it for useful value and upending the monotony of Paks a little bit.

As with all names transliterated from Cyrillic, spelling is pretty much up to you. I go with Ezhova (when I remember) because that’s how her name was spelled at competitions before she adopted Grebenkova, but you’ll see Yezhova probably more often (a better representation of pronunciation) and also Ejova, which is the spelling in the code of points.
