All beam routines must include a turn, so unless a gymnast is dipping into the wolf turn pond to sip the sweet, sweet overvalued nectar of those elements, she’s likely performing a full turn because it’s obviously the easiest way to get that requirement over and done with.

In the 2008 code of points, the turning element had to be included as one of the counting skills, so at that point full turns were rare because this skill is just an A. But since then, it’s all the rage.
