While the giant forward and the giant forward 1/2 exist as bare minimum skills in fulfilling the grip-change requirement, is a step above in difficulty and is the choice of those trying to do a legit skill in reverse grip rather than just getting the requirement out of the way as easily as possible.

Now, it’s still just a C element (the same as the simpler backward giant full), so there’s really no reason to perform the forward giant full unless you are desperate for another C element and desperate to have it be the most awkward possible thing. In which case, mission accomplished. That’s why the forward giant is pretty rare. We will see it more often performed in L grip from those who can do L grip because that’s a more valuable skill at a D value.
