Forward giant
About
A low-valued skill at just B, the giant forward exists primarily for the same reason as the backward giant, gaining rhythm in anticipation of a forward dismount like a double front.
The secondary reason it exists is the grip-change requirement, which prescribes that a gymnast show a second grip at some point in the routine. Many gymnasts will fulfill this requirement with a blind change into Jaeger, but for those who aren’t Jaegering, we will see forward giants serving as the bare minimum that can possibly be done in yucky reverse grip before getting back into regular grip.
