About
The split ring jump is a favorite of many of the top beam workers in the world. At a D (0.4) value, it is useful as a counting element on its own, but those who are aiming for major international medals on beam will typically utilize it in a D + D combination for an additional 0.2 in bonus, putting it on the end of, perhaps, a front aerial or switch 1/2 to rack up the difficulty score.
The split ring jump is often confused with its cousin, the Yang Bo, but while the two skills are rated identically, there are a couple key differences. The split ring jump requires the front leg to be at 180 degrees and the back knee to be bent to form a ring position with the head. In the Yang Bo, both the front and back legs will be at oversplit, past 180 degrees, and the back leg will be straight.
