A horrible trash skill that was invented by Vanessa Ferrari as a prank (only possible explanation), the turning ring leap has sadly caught on with a number of gymnasts because of the undeniable appeal of its D value.

It doesn’t look to be going anywhere anytime soon in spite of the fact that, to date, it has gone well for grand total of zero gymnasts, and I have to think that the deductions for leg position and split position, and landing control, and the inevitable downgrade to the split leap full (which you’re already doing elsewhere in the routine) would be a deterrent. Or something.
