Switch Leap Mount

Balance beam

Skill type

Known as
Switch split mount
Switch mount
Change leg mount

The switch split is quite a new mount in elite gymnastics but went unnamed because it was simultaneously performed by so many people at the 2010 world championships. The rules at the time stated that it would be named after none of them. But if you’d like to call it the Morel-Malaussena-Frandofert instead, then by all means.

When it was originated, this mount was given a C value, but in 2017, a number of mounts were upgraded in difficulty to encourage people to do something, ANYTHING, that isn’t boring trash. This strategy has worked to a large degree, and we have seen an uptick in the number of people attempting a switch split mount now that it has D value, making it an exceptionally useful counting dance element in nearly anyone’s beam routine.

D (2017–)
C (2010-2017)
