About
The Weiler kip was relatively uncommon skill in women’s gymnastics until Jordyn Wieber brought it back in 2011, and then everyone decided to do it. It’s the new red palazzo pant. While not the most common bars skill in the world, over the last most-of-a-decade the Weiler kip has caught on with some of the the “strong like ox, maybe not so much with the swinging” crowd.

This is predominately because—like the piked stalder—the Weiler kip is worth a D even without a full pirouette. That said, this version including the 1/2 twist has become more popular than the regular version because it is also eligible for connection value.

In other news, this skill is nearly impossible to make look not-clunky, and apparently also impossible to spell. Remember the rule: “I before E, except after C, or when sounding like Y as in WHY ARE YOU DOING A WEILER.”
