About
We have some potential naming thievery afoot. For a single code of points, a similar turn that required the free leg to be held above horizontal (but did not specify a the 180 split position) was named after Nela Kuncova after she competed at the 2001 World Championships in Ghent.

In 2006, the description of this skill was changed to include a requirement to show 180 split in the turn, rather than just hold the leg above horizontal, and Kuncova’s name was removed from the skill, never to be seen again. Of note, the shorthand for the element remains the same.

The single Y turn is a potentially useful composition choice at C (0.3) because it can get 0.1 connection bonus when performed directly into a regular full spin, but most gymnasts don’t go this direction. The majority opt to fulfill their turn/roll requirement with the more valuable double wolf turn instead. Or if they are throwing in a C turn, they’ll prefer the single L.

Because gymnastics is a comedy, not a drama
