The handspring pike 1/1 is among the many patented Chusovitina vaults—this one actually officially named after her—and it pretty much remains the domain of Chusovitina exclusively, even if we don’t see her attempt it much anymore. At least intentionally. We will see her do it when she’s hoping to get credit for the layout full but ends up pretty piked (like in the GIF above).
In modern elite gymnastics, it’s not worth it to declare your intentions to attempt this vault, even if it’s the vault you end up doing. You might as well post the number for the layout (worth 0.6 more), because regardless of the shapes you make in the air, you’re probably getting layout credit.
