About
At the 2006 world championship in Aarhus, the code added this turning hop to front support—slightly different from the straddle jump full to front support or jump full Shushunova that already existed.
In the updated publishing of the code for the new quad in 2009, this element was attributed to “Martinez (Name TBC) (ESP).” Because in the year 2006 we definitely didn’t have the internet—or paper—that could have confirmed the identity and nation of origin for the athlete who competed at worlds and entered a new skill in the code of points. TBC!
Turns out, her name is Julie Martinez, and she’s from France, not Spain. Now, her name is gone from the code, but the skill remains. Also in 2017 they tried to give this skill to Vasiliki Tsavdaridou for some reason and then fixed it.
In the best sign that the FIG doesn’t really know what this skill is and whether it exists, the FIG’s official historical named skill document credits this element to Spain’s Laura Martinez, an entirely different person who retired two quads before this skill was named.
