While it has gone unnamed in the code of points, this dismount is at least associated with Kathy Johnson from when she unveiled it in the early 80s, and any opportunity to give her a skill is going to be taken in this household.
The back 1.5 and back 2/1 are given the same value in the code of points, and in a surprising piece of continuity, that is true across the events, as the back 1.5 and 2/1 have the same value as each other on beam and floor as well. We’re all shocked. All of the flyaway dismounts have gone the way of the dodo in modern elite gymnastics, but the 2/1 has the particular misfortune of being valued the same as a skill with less twisting.
