About
In one of the most “really, why?” counterintuitive quirks of skill naming, the piked-Stalder Shaposh is known as the Komova II, while this skill, the more complex version with an additional 1/2 twist, is known as the Komova I.
That’s because Komova got this 1/2-twisting version named after herself at the Youth Olympic Games in 2010 but did not do the regular version until the World Championship in 2011, and naming numbers go chronologically. Even though you’d think the simpler version would be the Komova and the more complex would be the Komova II……nope. Just to be complicated.
While the regular version gets an upgrade over other Shaposh skills (being rated E while the others are D elements), the 1/2-twisting version receives no such benefit. It is also an E, just like all the other Shaposh 1/2 skills. That’s why it’s so incredibly rare. Why bother with the piked-Stalder Shap 1/2 when you can do a toe-on Shap 1/2 for the exact same value?
