This vault was perhaps the rarest of all the round-off 1/2-on vaults, but it did receive a notoriety boost when Suni Lee sampled it on her track during the 2022 NCAA season. One of the reasons we don’t see much of this vault is that it is very difficult to maintain an actual straight body position and not look like a rogue banana hurtling through the air. In value controversy, while nearly all of the tucked and piked round-off 1/2-on vaults got smacked with a 0.6 downgrade in the 2022 update, this vault lost only 0.2, now making it the same value as the pike with a full twist. Prior to 2022, the pike with a full twist was worth four (!) tenths more.
