About
In terms of skill naming, the 2020s brought much-needed resolution to the Garrison conundrum. Kelly Garrison successfully hit a back tuck with full twist as her beam mount in the all-around competition of the 1985 World Championship in Montreal (after opting for the safer back tuck in the team optionals) and continued performing it at subsequent meets, including the 1988 Olympics.

When the Garrison entered the code of points in the new 1989 update, however, it was described as a layout with full twist, even though she was doing it pretty clearly tucked. But the code is law. So, the Garrison existed as a layout until 2022, when the Garrison name was added to this tucked version, which had previously gone unnamed, and removed from the layout version. It’s an unexpected example of…adjusting the code to reflect factual accuracy? I don’t know what to do with this development.
