Tour jeté
About
An actual tour jeté—hitting split at an angle, landing in arabesque—is extremely uncommon in modern gymnastics, though the term tour jeté is extremely common in describing any manner of turning split leap, which occur in nearly every routine.
Any reference to the tour jeté must be accompanied by a wistful sigh to reflect nostalgia for a time gone by when dance technique was more valued in gymnastics. It’s the law.
As of 2017, the tour jeté with the back leg to ring position started to be considered the same element for the same value. This ring version was originally named after Karine Boucher of France at the 1991 worlds in Indianapolis but was last credited to her in the 2009-2012 code.
