About
OK listen. We need to talk about the tour jete. “Tour jete” (as well as “tour jete 1/2” and “tour jete full”) are common ways of describing skills that I would call a split leap 1/2, a split leap full, and a split leap 1.5. And it drives me crazy.
In an actual tour jete—which this skill is—the split position is achieved at a diagonal angle to the floor/beam. So if there’s an element in which the split position is achieved parallel to the floor/beam —as it is in split leaps—that is not a tour jete. That is a split leap.
A tour jete is only this element, and no one does it because it’s harder.
