About
In the code of points, this element is differentiated from the actual tour jeté, but for general gymnastics purposes, the two skills are both 1/2-turning split elements with the same B (0.2) value, so the difference is purely cosmetic.
Pretty much every gymnast performing a 1/2-turning split leap like this
will get it recognized as a tour jeté. This makes ballet very angry. But for gymnastics, that’s a tour jeté. For a true split leap 1/2, it would need to look more like this one, except imagine it without the ring position in the back leg or head release.
The simple split leap 1/2 has nearly disappeared in modern elite gymnastics because of its B value, rendering it basically unusable when there are so many available switch-based dance elements valued at C or more.
