The switch side with 1/2 turn owns a deeply enticing E (0.5) value—one of only four leaps/jumps on beam to get this rating—following its 2017 upgrade from D. That siren song, however, has not worked on most gymnasts, which is probably a good thing. The lack of split, the under-rotation, the chance of your ankle ripping open and causing the entire crowd to vomit and then you’re on the news about it…the risks are just too great.
