The front handspring over the beam has never been as popular as its cousin, the aerial walkover over the beam, which had already started to be a regular staple in beam routines by the late 70s, surpassing any need for this hand-support business. The two garnered the same value until the 2017 code update, when the free version was upgraded to C (0.3) and this handspring version remained at B (0.2).

The cartwheel from the side (seen above) is a classic mount that was added back to the code in 2013 as an alternate version of the aerial walkover, but in 2022 it was bumped back down to B to join the front handspring over the beam instead.
