Like most beam mounts in the entire code of points, the split leap exists in skill-value purgatory. If you just want to get on the beam to get started, you’re not going to bother trying to hit a split and then get deducted for something that isn’t even valuable. You’ll just do the leap on. But if you’re looking for actual, useful counting tenths from your beam mount, a B (0.2) split leap isn’t going to get the job done.

So it’s just sort of there.
