About
That damn fouetté. The great life-ruiner of the 1996 compulsory beam routine. Never underestimate the power of a 1/2-turning hop to destroy all your plans for world domination.

The fouetté is entirely absent from modern beam routines, which have no incentive to include a B dance element. If a gymnast does end up needing to count a B as one of her 8 elements for difficulty, there are already B-valued back handsprings in there that will do the job. No need to add a terror like a fouetté. Might as well just go jump into a volcano.

Because gymnastics is a comedy, not a drama
