In early action today, technical difficulties. That seems to have been the name of the game with live scores and streams.
Maryland won its opening quad meet with a 193.850 over Penn Westy Chesty (which no one calls West Chester but me) and Cortland.
Anyway, this Illinois quad should be a fascinating one, with the debut of OSU, Kentucky coming in after a solid first week, and Illinois coming off that opening 192.
OK, we’re getting started now. Illinois on vault.
Otto – VT – Ill – full, bounce back –
Lowery is on bars! Nice DLO, good shape, bounce back.
Katie Stuart went 9.775 on beam.
Next up for Kentucky – Angeny, three series to loso, small lean – aerial, hit – switch to beat jump – full turn – side aerial to tuck full, leans to hold the stick, solid showing.
Bixler vaults just a yurchenko back tuck, clearly a mistake. Illinois counting some 9.6s now.
Balthazor shows excellent amplitude on her full on vault, good clean shape, large bounce back though
Briscoe – UB – Oregon State – Nice jaeger, has toe point – leg break in bail – solid cast positions – DLO, stick, some feet. Nice routine. 9.825
Meeks – VT – Illinois – very strong vault – good height on her full, holds the stick on landing with just a bit of a lean, not as much distance as Balthazor. Good one. 9.825. I would have gone 9.850, so kind of expected higher
MCP – UB – OSU – falls on her jaeger – took it really far, couldn’t catch, pretty position of course.
Korth finishes BB with a lovely 2/1 dismount, just a small slide
48.575 on VT for Illinois.
Gill – UB – OSU – lovely amplitude of Shaposh, high Pak with a leg break – 1/2 turn on low, a little late – finishes DLO, pretty, slide back.
Oregon State will have to count a 9.5 and a 9.6 on routines we didn’t see.
Just 9.475 for Korth on beam.
Dukes – BB – Kentucky – pretty full turn – bhs loso series, no trouble – aerial with a lean at the hips to squeeze and hold it – switch to straddle 1/4, great extension – sheep with a little lean on her toes – 1.5, stuck. Such good work.
Alexander – Lindenwood finishes on floor with a double pike, gets it around, short with a lunge forward. Coming off a score in the 7s, so that looked like a useful hit
Hyland – BB – Kentucky – finishes with a side aerial to layout full, comes up short with a hop.
Kentucky 48.875 on beam.
Oregon State 48.450 on bars. Gill goes 9.675 for that routine, which tells me scores are tight here. Most meets that would have been mid or high 9.7s.
Mitchell – LU – solid double pike, controlled step – 1.5 to layout – controls the rudi as well, a little short on landing but held it –
Henry – LU – FX – nice height on double pike but a pretty significant bounce back – double tuck, didn’t get quite the same height on that one, step forward – switch side to popa – 1.5 to layout, pretty clean form there. These scores will keep Lindenwood fairly close after floor. 9.425 is a little confusing to me.
Rotation 2
Dwyer – UB – Illinois – hit piked jaeger to overshoot – bit of a leg break in final giant full into double tuck, small hop in place. 9.725
Monfredi – FX – Kentucky – finishes front full to front tuck, a little low but comfortable
Biondi – UB – Ill – weiler to jaeger, hit, good rhythm, some feet – strong bail position – sticks double tuck dismount
9.725 for Peterson on beam for OSU
Lowery – BB – Oregon State – hits loso series – switch to straddle 1/4, good height in that – cat leap to side aerial with a lean to hold it – front full dismount, stuck. Strong showing.
Donovan – Ub – Ill – good position on piked jaeger, connected to overshoot – one short hs – finishes giant full to double tuck, short on double tuck with a bound forward –
Rosa – FX – Kentucky – falls on final pass, front lay to front full attempt, didn’t get a punch into her front full and couldn’t get it around –
Howell – UB – Ill – hits piked jaeger well, gorgeous pak shape, took it a little close to the bar but works out like you wouldn’t know – 1/2 turn to double front, small hop –
Good to see that handspring front pike 1/2 on vault from Lindenwood for 10.0 start, lunge back, some form in the air
Otto – Ub – super Shaposh to Pak combo – toe Shap 1/2, good legs together – hitting hs – FTDT, stuck landing. This is basically identical to the routine Ramler did yesterday, just a little more feet maybe, so I want to see and compare scores.
Also a 9.875.
Stuart lands OOB on her front lay combo pass for Kentucky on floor.
Balthazor has a giant tkatchev for Illinois but can’t catch. They do have five hit routines preceding it. And she has another handstand problem resuming her routine it looks like. Dismounts just a lone double tuck.
Lazaro – BB – Oregon State – following a debut 9.825 for Dagen – bhs loso series with a small lean – switch to straddle 3/4, a bit slow – covers overturning a full turn a little – side aerial to a stuck full. Some things, but a good hit.
Kentucky already counting two 9.5s on floor.
Another 9.825 on BB for Lazaro.
Singley finishes up for them – solid loso series, extended and secure – kickover front, just a small adjustment – gainer full, hop back. They’ll take it.
Dukes finishes FX with a clean front full to front lay, double tuck, small shuffle on landing
Davis doing exhibition on beam for OSU – aerial, some knees, short with an adjustment – bhs loso, strong – switch with a check, bend to the side – split jump to straddle 1/4, leg-up check –
Korth on FX – we’re seeing the ends of these routines, rudi loso is lovely, good height, extended in loso – double pike, bit of a slide. They pulled this rotation together at the end, but it won’t be a big score.
After 2:
Illinois 97.475
Oregon State 97.425
Kentucky 97.350
Lindenwood 95.600
Rotation 3
Jacobsen – FX – OSU – secure double pike landing – 1.5 to layout, dances out, just a bit of legs on the 1.5 twisting – split leap full to split jump 1/1 – 9.800
Roe – BB – Illinois – straddle jump 3/4, solid – cat leap to gaienr loso, secure, flexed feet – 1.5 dismount, step-salute forward. 9.750
Kwan – VT – Kentucky – excellent height on her full, semi-stick-salute
Otto – BB – Illinois – bhs loso series, secure, just a bit of knees – switch to tuck jump full, great position of switch – side aerial to full, stuck
Rosa – VT – bounce back on her full –
Dagen finishes FX, front lay to front full with a bit of a pop out
Very clean shape on full on VT for Kentucky – I want to say Stuart? – with a step back
Biondi – BB – Ill – switch to straddle 1/4, excellent position, bit of a lean – bhs loso series, falls, off line.
Force – FX – OSU – clean double pike shape, bounce back – front lay to front full, lunge forward out – double tuck, just a bit of adjustment – not going for her big difficulty but a composed routine.
Noonan – BB – Ill – bhs bhs loso, step back and a lean to save it – hit standing loso – switch to split, good leaps – gainer full, stuck
Apparently Korth stuck her Y1.5 and went 9.850, but we did not see it.
Singley – FX – OSU – front tuck through to double tuck, just a bit short with a step forward – double pike, secure landing, a little crunched but held the control – switch ring to switch 1/2, fine, switch ring a little two-part – rudi, hit, some knees
Howell – BB – Ill – full turn, hit – bhs layout series, very solid – switch with a hesitation check, will have to redo to get her series – switch to straddle 1/4, still a little hesitant – switch side, hit – gainer pike, slide
48.825 on VT for Kentucky.
Lowery – FX – Oregon State – second pass is 1.5 to front full, dances out of it well to cover, smoothly done – OK almost had a balance check on choreography in the corner, and we need to talk about that – punch rudi, controls the step back, keeping that front foot down. 9.850.
Balthazor hits punch front on BB – beat jump to straddle 3/4, large hip bend to save it, LOVE her skill amplitude. gainer pike dismount, stuck
Illinois 48.700 on beam. Dropped the fall but lots of fairly significant balance checks.
Shaylah Scott doing exhibition on beam for Illinois, and aside from a wobble on choreography (the theme of the day), this is going to be in the lineup in second. Perfect high kickover front.
Oregon State uses out first 49 rotation of the day to take the lead after three.
After 3
Oregon State 146.450
Kentucky 146.225
Illinois 146.175
Lindenwood 144.075
We have an injury on floor exhibition for Oregon State. She landed short on her second pass, appeared to hurt her ankle, tried to keep going and Tanya walked out onto the floor to stop her.
Rotation 4
Gonzales – VT – OSU – good amplitude on her full but can’t control the landing with a pretty large lunge back
Scott – FX – Ill – front 2/1, legs with a crossover stumble on landing – 1.5 to layout, solid, cleaner – switch to split leap full, good split on the split leap – rudi, comfortable
Lacy Dagen – VT – OSU – bounce back on her full, clean form for the most part in the air, just a pike developing in the end
Madi Dagen – VT – OSU – sticks her Yfull, great height – just a pike down at the end to catch a stick.
Lovely splits from Alexander on beam.
Nixon – UB – Kentucky – good Shap, bail legs together but short of vertical – dismount giant full to double tuck with a step
Roe- FX – Ill – hit rudi, secure – finishes with a short double tuck with a step forward, saved it –
Kwan finishes bars with giant full to double pike with a hop back
Jacobsen sticks her Tsuk full, some legs in the air and some pike down that will be taken, great landing.
Biondi – FX – Ill – double pike, very secure – double tuck, also not the most height but keeps it under control – switch side to wolf full, distinct positions – front lay to front full.
Oregon State finishes 195.225. Not a great score, but they’ll take the performance since the judging was a little tight. Should be happy with beam and floor overall. Need more control on those vault landings as we go.
Obsessed with the exhibition vault from Force (?) who did a Ylayout basically directly connected to stag jump as she bounced well up in place.
Hyland – Ub – Kentucky – good height on tkatchev – bail, rushes through it with a leg break – short on final hs – FTDT, nearly holds the stick into salute.
Baltahzor – FX – Ill – double tuck, good shape, bounce back though – split leap 1.5 – 1.5 to layout, not much height on the layout, had to whip it around in a rush to stay on her feet
Kentucky ends up with 195.100, behind Oregon State. We’ll see how these last floor routines go for Illinois.
Howell – FX – Ill – front tuck through to double tuck, under control – switch side to popa to wolf full dance combination – double pike, very secure, chest pretty low
Noonan – FX – Ill – pretty front 2/1, good height and leg form – front lay to rudi with a little slide – switch ring to cat leap 1.5 – 1.5 to layout, also solid, rotation highlight.
Lovely extension in that aerial bhs from Emily Milliet on beam, great form and toes. Sticks gainer front lay full off the end of the beam.
FINAL:
Oregon State 195.225
Illinois 195.175
Kentucky 195.100
Lindenwood 192.525
No one’s going to want to keep those 195s, but it wasn’t a disaster. Progress for Illinois after the first meet. Kentucky had the OOB problem on floor that brought that score down. No counting falls for those top 3 teams.
Does anyone have a link to a FREE stream of the Illinois quad meet?
I wish. 😭
If the link says Flo, a free stream does not exist. That goes for any Flo meet throughout the season.
yeah, I knew that about Flo. Just didn’t know if it would be different for BTN+.
Korth bumped up to 9.625 looking at the score sheet.
I wondered about that – it wasn’t a good score for her and I wondered what happened
9.9 v 9.75 beam judges split for Dagan is a bit of a joke. It was either s great routine one or an okay one…
Yes but the pause deductions make the score splits more likely. One takes a tenth on a pause and one doesn’t.
It’s kind funny seeing SEC and PAC-12 teams experience what Big 10 scoring is like.
So true! Welcome to a world where deductions are taken and not everyone gets a 10….
Super shocked to see OSU with the win and UK settle for 3rd
