We have a little bit of overlap today, so here’s what we’re dealing with.

In theory, Alabama/Michigan and Kentucky/Arkansas are supposed to run away with our first two semifinals from the opening rotations, so we’ll see who’s keeping this interesting. Please be everybody.
Rotation 1 – Michigan
Alabama on vault, Penn State on bars, Kent State on beam, Michigan on floor. Michigan will want the lead after one, starting on their best event.
Sears – VT – Alabama – solid yfull, small hop back. 9.850

Rankin – BB – Kent State – bhs loso, secure, some foot form – switch to straddle pike 1/4 – cat leap to side aerial, also solid, some knee and feet – split jump 1/2 from side, pretty far under split – gainer pike, step back. 9.750

Lacoursiere – VT – Alabama – hits y1.5, medium lunge forward and some knees. 9.850

Guggino – FX – Michigan – front lay to double pike, little rebound – front lay to rudi, also a bounce back – 9.900
Hudson – VT – Alabama – y1.5, didn’t get her usual block, wasn’t as high, ended up crunching on landing with a large bound forward. 9.775, we’re bunching these vault scores
Gallentine – UB – Penn St – toe on to maloney to pak, only small leg breaks – a bit tight on cast hs on high – DLO, little rebound. 9.850
Fuertez is off for Kent State on her bhs bhs loso series, so they’re counting the 9.625 for Riley now. Shame because her foot form is a yes.
Brooks – FX – Michigan – FTDT, chest up, controls front foot – split leap full to split jump full looks good – front tuck through to double tuck, controls the landing as well, usual good one. 9.925
Blanco – VT – Alabama – y1.5, nice form, comes in a little short, slide back. 9.875
Piedrahita – UB – Penn St – toe on to maloney to pak, solid – hits position on 1/2 turn on low – short cast hs on high – FTDT, some leg form, small hop back. 9.800

After 1
Michigan 49.475
Alabama 49.250
Penn State 49.075
Kent State 48.725
Basically everything going to plan after one, though Penn State will be pleased at being within a reasonable distance of Alabama after 1.
Now Alabama is bumped up to 49.3 on vault as Bunagan’s score goes to 9.850. Thought scoring was fairly soft in those Alabama and Michigan first rotations. Not one of those super crazy meets, but minimum possible deductions taken.
Rotation 2
Mulligan – VT – Michigan – the yfull, shy on landing, step forward. 9.825

Rudnitskaya – FX – Kent St – double pike, hit, chest down – switch side to popa, angle on switch side, stronger popa – 1.5 to front lay, low front lay has to straddle and tuck to get to her feet – double tuck,

After 2
Michigan 98.900
Alabama 98.725
Penn State 98.400
Kent State 97.775
Penn State having a really nice meet so far to keep Michigan and Alabama honest and unable to count a beam fall.
We have two other meets starting now. I’ll try to keep an eye on all of them like an idiot and it will go terribly.
Rotation 3 in Michigan, Rotation 1 in Arkansas
Procasky starts Kentucky on vault with a stuck yfull. 9.875. Wells does the same for Clemson on vault in their play-in against Iowa State.
Fears opens beam for Arizona over in Arknasas – hits loso series – full turn, under control – small arm wave correction on choreo – holds onto side aerial – 1.5 dismount, little movement.
Gamiao finishes floor for Arkansas with a secure double back landing and hit routine.
Rizo on vault for Kentucky, a shorter yfull than Procasky but also holds onto the stick. Still got the same 9.875
Jenks with a nice ray to overshoot for Nebraska on bars, a bit shy on cast hs on high, stuck DLO. Nice. They need to drop the leadoff 9.625 for Bacskay. 9.850
Hudson starting the critical beam rotation for Alabama in rotation 3 – aerial, keeps arms going to bhs – works through the switch to switch combination, gets a little tight with an arm correction – switch 1/2, under split but secure – 1.5 dismount, shorter, slide back. 9.775
Vore little hop back for Michigan on DLO on bars – 9.850
Ashley Maul nearly falls on final pass on floor for Penn State, 1.5 is past, has to tuck her layout attempt with a deep landing.
Colombo with a high piked jaeger for nebraska on bars, takes the pak a little close and loses form but keeps going – holds onto stick on double tuck. 9.750
Waligora with an opening issue on beam, does a bhs but stops – redoes bhs into loso and falls – it just got interesting. Split jump to tuck jump full with an arm check – 1.5 dismount, stuck.
Judges convo on Maul’s first floor for Penn State, potentially re what to credit that lay-tuck-straddle in combination.
4th spot fall for Arizona on beam, Castles, after three good hits.
Simpton for Nebraska on bars holds stick on DLO, pikes a little at the end.
Kentucky rolling on vault to start, usual medium step forward for Worley on her y1.5.
Kramer – FX – penn State – following 9.5 for Maul – front 2/1 to front tuck is hit – switch to split leap full to wolf full, a little under – rudi to loso, under control, a bit of feet
Clemson will have a solid opening rotation score on vault, able to drop the miss vault from Jackson.
Burgess – BB – Alabama – big routine now – one arm bhs to loso, secure – side aerial, lovely back leg extension – switch to beat, good – beat to switch side, under control – gainer pike, stuck, critical recovery routine. 9.925

Clemson with a big 6 tenth lead on Iowa State after 1.
Adams – BB – Alabama – wolf triple, nice – aerial, good – bhs loso, holds it, small lean correction – switch to split jump, hit – bhs 1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.900
Herring – FX – penn State – double arabian, great control – switch side 1/2 to popa, good straddle positions – back 1.5 to front lay, nice
Blanco – BB – Alabama – aerial, smooth – full turn, good – bhs loso loso, small wobble – switch to beat jump, lovely – 1.5 dismount, little hop.
Ava Jordan peels off bars on her giant full attempt, though Michigan already has five hits.
Alabama closed the door on the challenge there with those last four beam routines.
After 1 Arkansas
Arkansas 49.450
Kentucky 49.350
Nebraska 49.225
Arizona 48.900
Arizona had to count a 9.575 on beam there, Nebraska keeping it close through 1 with a good finish on bars.
Salcedo FX – Penn State – double front, little slide forward – switch 1/1 to sissone, lovely switch work – front lay to front full to front pike, nice. 9.850. We have a really wide variety of 9.850s today on floor in this one.
Penn State having a really excellent competition, just not getting the help they need.
Rotation 2 underway in Arkansas, Sikon starts beam for Nebraska with a hit loso series – cat leap to switch 1/2, solid split position – balance check on tuck 15 dismount, lean and leg up wobble.
Clemson has been delayed for 955 minutes on bars but I didn’t see the routines that caused the delay.
Rizo is up 2nd on bars for Kentucky, following 9.800 for Davis – blind to jaeger, was close and couldn’t get her grip over the bar, falls.
Jencks – BB – Nebraska – following 9.775 for Sikon – kickover, small lean correction – switch to straddle 1/2, bit low but secure – 1.5, sticks. 9.850
Price sticks her yfull for Arkansas, chest down.
Rodriguez – UB – Kentucky – tkatchev is hit – clear hip to bail, legs together – DLO, holds stick. 9.800
Bacskay step back on 2/1 beam landing for Nebraska. 9.775
Rutherford falls on Ray on bars for Clemson. They’re counting a bars fall now.
Essenpries – VT – Arkansas – really locked landing on y1.5, survives it with a lunge to the side
Rotation 4 in Michigan
Johanson – VT – Penn St – hits yfull, a little flat, hop back. 9.850
Mulligan – BB – Michigan – full turn, hit – cat leap to aerial, smooth – bhs loso and falls – here we go, Michigan – resumes with beat to straddle jump 1/2, lean – bhs 1.5 tuck, lunge forward
Johnston – VT – Penn St – yfull, solid distance, some pike, bounce back. 9.850. Penn State is getting the SCORES on vault.
Procasky through a clean bars for Kentucky for 9.800 as well. Bunn and Worley have to hit now to drop that fall.
Nebraska has to work through a 9.275 for Hall on beam now, Spence and McClelland needing hits.
Guggino – BB – Michigan – full turn, wobble – bhs lsoso, small check – straddle to straddle 1/2, adjustment step back – side somi, hit – bhs lay 1.5 dismount, step forward. A nervvvy one but stayed on. 9.775
Spence through with a hit for Nebraska. 9.875
McElligott – VT – Penn St – similar to the others, hit yfull, some pike throughout, little bounce back
McClelland – BB – Nebraska – wolf double solid – bhs loso, keeps it together – beat to stag ring, secure – bhs tuck 1.5, hop forward. Nebraska can drop the miss. 9.850
Wilson – BB – Michigan – bhs loso, solid – switch split jump, secure – full turn – double tuck, short landing, lunge forward, but a hit. 9.800
Worley hits bars for Kentucky, so disaster averted for them there.
Salcedo – VT – Penn St – pretty big lunge forward on omelianchik
Nebraska will be just .025 behind Kentucky through 2. Kentucky is going to have to beam.
Vore – BB – Michigan – bhs loso, some form but holds it securely – full turn, very small hesitation – straddle to split 3/4 and she’s off! Michigan counting a fall on beam now! Finishes 1.5 dismount, lunge to the side
Iowa State took a .3 lead on Clemson after 2 with Clemson’s bars trouble
Salcedo only 9.725 on vault for Penn State, they’ll need to drop that.
Herring – VT – Penn State – sticks her yfull, also chest fairly far down, but held that landing. 9.875 is big.
Bauman – BB – Michigan – bhs loso, nice – split to straddle 1/2 to beat, good – side somi, clean – gainer pike, hop back.
Jamison Sears is doing a full comedy routine in the other window while this is happening, and it’s perfect
Piedrahita – VT – Penn St – omelianchik a bit short with a bounce back
9.875 for Piedrahita will eliminate Michigan regardless of what brooks does.
And Brooks has a wobble on her series – switch to beat is good – full turn, hit – kickover, check – 2/1 dismount.
Penn State is done on 196.925. Brooks goes 9.825 to get Michigan to 196.725.
Hudson and Gladieux will finish floor for Alabama in the victory lap rotation.
Hudson – FX – Alabama – front lay to front 2/1, a little steppy – nice wolf full position – double tuck, chest down, step –
Hudson is in with a 9.850 to make this thing official, with Alabama and Penn State advancing to tomorrow. Enjoy your brackets!
You can play the tenths game here with Penn State’s vault scores (though by the same token, I thought Salcedo’s floor was much stronger than many of the 9.850s we’ve seen there today), but if Michigan had hit five beam routines, this wouldn’t have been a thing. They had it in their control to advance and didn’t hit.
Rotation 3 in Arkansas
Rourke – FX – Nebraska – front tuck through to double tuck, nice position in the air – following 9.800 for Kencks – switch 1/2 to popa to wolf full – double pike, short landing, step forward. 9.725
Kentucky not letting them in through these first three beams.
Patterson – BB – Kentucky – full turn, hit – bhs loso, secure landing – aerial, big wobble, bend forward and the hips and an arm circle – cat leap to switch side, small check – switch – gainer pike, holds stick. 9.600
Martin 5th vault for Arkansas, short landing on yfull with step
Linton falls on bars for Arkansas, misses her maloney. They’re counting 9.725 there now.
Worley 5th on beam for Kentucky – cat leap to switch side, angle in split, secure – aerial, keeps moving to bhs loso, knees but secure – tries to hold dismount stick, ends up with step forward. 9.850
Comin – FX – Nebraska – FTDT, controls step, some feet and knee positions – split full to wolf full wolf full – back 1.5 to lay is hit
Fears – VT – Arizona – yfull, bounce back, nice layout position, some direction
Scalzo – UB – Arkansas – jaeger to overshoot it hit – DLO, some soft knees coming in but holds onto the stick.
Magnelli – BB – Kentucky – bhs loso loso, solid – switch to straddle 1/4, excellent – aerial, holds it securely – full turn – gainer pike, stuck. 9.900 for a 49.350 beam.
McClelland – BB – Nebraska – front double full, keeps back foot down, some knee position – switch 1/2 to popa to straddle jump, good – rudi to loso, kind of leaning back to keep it under control. 9.850
Jones – UB – Arkansas – hits first hs – blind to piked jaeger, solid – hits hs – pak, legs together well – past on 1/2 turn on low bar – good hs on high – DLO, stuck. Arkansas survives bars.
Spence – FX – Nebraska – front tuck through to double tuck, sells the front foot – wolf double – switch ring to split leap full – double pike, little rebound. 9.900
Iowa State has a .100 lead on Clemson now going to the last rotation, ISU on beam, Clemson on floor.
Loyim – BB – Iowa State – switch to switch side, a little tight, holds it – bhs loso, lean correction, keeps it on – full turn – aerial, nice into beat jump – gainer full, bounce back
Whitman will finish the Nebraska floor rotation as an individual – double front, step forward, possible OOB – front 2/1 to front lay, pulls it out – switch side and a little into straddle shush – loso to knee – stop showing Nebraska during her routine, do you hate her? – front 2/1, under with a step back
After 3
Arkansas 147.975
Kentucky 147.725
Nebraska 147.575
Arizona 146.925
Nebraska in a very similar position to Penn State here, having a nice day but now needing Arkansas to fall apart on beam like Michigan did
Over at ISU/Clemson – Arnold 2nd on floor for Clemson after 9.825 – FTDT, controls step, chest down – switch 1/2 to wolf full – 2.5 to front tuck, short landing and takes several steps back to try to save it. 9.650
Wilke – BB – Iowa State – full turn – cat leap to kickover, small hesitation to back tuck, secure landing but a small pause – cat leap to switch side, secure, some angle in split – 1.5 dismount, little hop. 9.825
Rutherford – FX – Clemson – 2.5 to front tuck, controls landing – switch 1/2 to wolf full, great – double tuck, overcooks it a little with a slide back. 9.825

Wells – FX – Clemson – FTDT, chest down with a step – split leap full to popas, quite good – 1.5 to 2/1 under control. 9.800

Bergstrom – BB – Clemson – full turn, hit – cat leap to kickover to bhs, smooth combo – switch to switch, secure – split jump – front tuck 1/1, stuck. 9.900
Jones is 2nd on beam for Arkansas, after Gamiao gets through with 9.800 – aerial to bhs bhs, very nice – full turn – split jump to stag ring, holds it – stuck dismount, excellent. 9.900
Clark – FX – Clemson – DLO, chest forward, bit steppy – nice height on leaps – fornt lay to front full to front tuck, short with a step back. 9.800 is not enough
Sikon third vault for Nebraska, lower yfull, nearly gets the landing, step forward.
Thomas – BB – Iowa State – kickover to bhs, makes the connection – does shuffle back on 1.5 dismount, but they don’t need the score.
Swaney third beam for Arkansas – cat leap to aerial, hit – bhs loso, secure – switch to split, check – bhs 1.5, stuck. 9.925
Bacskay – VT – Nebraksa – hits y1.5, knee throughout, hop forward. 9.850
Iowa State advances with 195.875 over Clemson, which counted a miss on bars.
Weaver – BB – Arkansas – bhs loso, hit, some klnee – straddle to stag ring, secure – side aerial, held – 1.5, bounce back. 9.850
Comin – VT – Nebraska – hits y1.5, but shorter landing, step back and some knee. 9.800
Klein – BB – Arkansas – bhs loso, solid with some knee position – switch to straddle, secure – 1.5 dismount, some leg separation, hop. That’s five hits which will clinch advancing for Arkansas.
Davis – FX – Kentucky – double pike, bounce back – switch side 1/2 to straddle 1/2 – back 1.5 to front lay, good lay position – double tuck is very nice. 9.900
Spence – VT – Nebraska – y1.5, sits down her 1.5. Very surprising. I remember Canada went with her y1.5 at worlds because she literally never fell on it and they knew they could count it.
Linton has a chest down correction on her acro series for Arkansas – hits switch to split – 1.5 dismount, hop to the side
Brose – FX – kentucky – double pike, hit with some lack of control – split leap full to wolf full, around – front full front lay under control – front 2/1, strong landing. And that hit will clinch advancing for Kentucky. 9.900
Fears – UB – Arizona – finishing off a tough day for Arizona – hits first hs – tkatchev, good – nice hs on high – clear hip to bail – some arch back in final cast but hits vertical – DLO, holds the landing. Nice one.
Worley – FX – Kentucky – FTDT, slight leg separation, good landing control – switch ring to switch side, hit – front lay to front full, secure – double tuck, great landing. 9.950. One judge goes 10.
FINAL
Arkansas 197.325
Kentucky 197.100
Nebraska 196.600
Arizona 195.600
So no upset drama in this one, though if I’m Kentucky, I’m very concerned about this deficit to Arkansas here. A strong day overall for Nebraska, but no one let them in.
Break time!
Southern Utah and San Jose State get the spotlight now for their play-in before the second semifinals begin.
Rotation 1
Thoughts and prayers to Evan for having to muddle through this commentary after Michigan’s performance earlier.
Cacciola – VT – SUU – yfull, good amplitude and open position, bounce back. 9.775
Lopes – UB – SJ – good first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, good legs together position, bit of angle on bail – hits cast hs – giant full, a tad past, into double tuck, good stick. 9.725 with a 9.650 to 9.850 range
Randolph – VT – SUU – another solid form yfull, bounce back. 9.750
Reardon – UB – San Jose – short first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, small leg breaks, some hip angle – well short on cast hs on high – DLO, nearly finds stick, little movement. 9.775
Goodman – VT – SUU – another small bounce back on her yfull, not as much dynamics or laid out position as the last two, but a smaller bounce, so her score goes up 9.800
Konieczny – UB – San Jose – hits first hs – blind to jaeger, nice feet – rushes cast hs on high – bail, good vertical position on catch – solid cast hs on high – DLO, some leg separation, step forward. 9.800
Pardue – VT – SUU – y1.5, hits it, medium step to the side and some knees. 9.750
Mazury – UB – San Jose – blind to piked jaeger, solid – hits hs – pak, smooth – rushes final cast hs – DLO, legs apart, step back. 9.850
Christensen – VT – SUU – y1.5, crossover step behind her to show a little bit under, also some knees and direction. 9.750
Weyhmiller – UB – San Jose – blind to jaeger, good foot positions – hits hs on high – pak is fully straddled and brushes mat on the way through – finishes DLO, chest down, step. 9.575
Gull – VT – SUU – ro full on back tuck, pretty large bounce back. 9.725
Macpherson – UB – San Jose – tight first hs – hits tkatchev – solid hs – toe on to bail, legs together nicely, good position – short hs on high – FTDT, bounce back, leans to hold the finish position. But definitely a counter. 9.800
After 1
San Jose 48.950
Southern Utah 48.825
Southern Utah’s vault NQS is stronger than San Jose’s bars NQS, so Southern Utah would have hoped for a lead after 1. Bars, though, is their biggest area of advantage, so they’ll expect to take over the lead after 2.
San Jose does a better job than a lot of top teams of not having that get-away-with-it leg separation on the maloney + bail combos.
Rotation 2
Valuch – VT – San Jose – yfull, medium bounce back. 9.725
Christensen – UB – SUU – piked jaeger, hit – toe on to bail, small leg break in catch – short cast hs on high – DLO, step back. 9.800
Macpherson – VT – San Jose – really nice stick on her yfull, solid layout position. 9.850
Routsis – UB – SUU – maloney to bail, legs together, short vertical on bail – toe on and has to add a toe circle to step up to high, low amplitude – short cast hs on high – toe on – DLO, saves routine with a stick there. 9.775

FINAL
Southern Utah 195.525

This was the least exciting meet of the postseason through three rotations, but San Jose melted down on beam to give it to Southern Utah.
Up next, we have Oklahoma, NC State, Ohio State, and Illinois in the second semifinal from Michigan.
In other news, the graphic just said Leah Smith goes to Oklahoma and got a 10 on beam at Big 12s. WHO KNEW.

We’ll see if that OOB becomes significant because the replay seemed to show she stayed on the line, and the flag woman couldn’t see it from her angle. 9.725

FINAL
LSU 197.800
Minnesota 196.950
BYU 196.500
Oregon State 196.450
So it’s LSU, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Minnesota for Saturday’s final, all the seeds making it at this one.
Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio State, and Penn State in the Michigan final that will determine our first two nationl finalists.
In terms of individual land from these regionals, here’s my initial look at where we stand.
Michigan
AA – Gabby Wilson got the top non-Oklahoma AA score, so as long as Oklahoma qualifies a team, she’ll go through for AA.
VT/FX – If Wilson goes through for AA, then Sierra Brooks will go to nationals for vault and floor, again presuming Oklahoma qualifies as a team
UB: Blanco, Bauman, and Takekawa are tied for 2nd behind Bowers, so if Oklahoma and Alabama go, then Bauman and Takekawa are tied to advance, and we need the score sheet to see if counting all four breaks the tie.
BB: If Oklahoma and Alabama go through, then Amani Herring for Penn State will get the beam spot. If Alabama doesn’t go, then it’s Burgess.
Arkansas
AA: Jade Carey won the AA today, so we know she’s through as the AA qualifier for nationals no matter what
VT/FX: Hooten’s 9.975 won the day, so if Minnesota doesn’t go as a team, Hooten has the vault spot. And as long as LSU and Kentucky go through as teams, Hooten will have a floor spot as well. If Kentucky doesn’t make it as a team, then we have a Hooten/Worley tie that would go to Worley on NQS.
UB: Blackson got 9.950 on that bars routine to finish the day, so she has qualified to nationals for bars
BB: Cally Swaney for Arkansas will go unless Arkansas and LSU make it as a team, then we’re looking at a big tie between Brose, Magnelli, Horak, and Sirjord, which would go to Magnelli.

I forget, will the regionals finals use the seeding from NQS or from the actual results of the semi-finals to determine the seedings for the rotations? Meaning if in the unlikely scenario that Arkansas gets a higher score than Kentucky in their semi-final and both advance with scores higher than LSU (who also advances with Minnesota), does Arkansas go into regional finals as the #1 seed, Kentucky #2, and LSU #3?
Is Kent State wearing velvet leos?
LOL at Franz and Murphy having the same floor music back-to-back
Why on earth was Hannah Loyim STILL in ISU’s bars lineup? I love her on other events but she’s struggled on almost every routine all season. Is there no one else they could throw in just see what would happen?
Clemson counting a 9.575 on bars.
Oh, dear. They Clemson also has a 9.125 and the current gymnast just fell.
On the one hand, I like the seeded teams currently having trouble. On the other hand, these would be very exciting upsets.
I hate to break it to you, but that’s the same hand
I think she meant that those would have been exciting upsets in the regional final(s). Now it’s less likely for the underdogs to pull another upset in the finals
How? Liking fun upsets vs liking the teams that would be upset, hence the two hands.
This Michigan regional keeps putting me in this position! I came in wanting OSU to pull off the upset, but Illinois in the top two is really fun too.
Wow…Penn State is going to beat Michigan!
The fix is already in for Arkansas to advance to Nationals. Shouldn’t have beaten Kentucky today, but #homeadvantage AKA Georgia and CAROL.
They have to do it again to advance but the precedence is there already that Arkansas can beat Kentucky while home.
Arkansas has had some of the craziest scoring the last two years. Everyone focuses on LSU and Florida, but I think Arkansas home scores may be the worst. That being said, Kentucky made mistakes today and I hope they are back to their “normal” on Saturday. I really want Kentucky at Nationals. I also don’t think Worley’s 39.45 would be enough to qualify in the AA if Kentucky doesn’t make it.
I hope the Arkansas judges are fair on Saturday and don’t throw out the home scores like they usually do.
You think Arkansas is over scored at home?
@Holly
I do. I don’t think they are as crazy as LSU, but they are definitely high. They are an improved team and I think they deserved to be ahead of Kentucky today. Their home scores just tend to skew high. My own conspiracy theory is it is part of the Val Kondos Field effect. It seems like every Arkansas meet she is at goes high. Lol. (Jk)
No fix. Arkansas has been routinely underscored for the past 20 years. They also don’t get crazy high home scores a la LSU, Florida and several other teams.
LOL OK Holly.
Wake up from your dreams.
This has to be a complete joke. I’m a fan of a big ten team, so I have no dog in the fight in the SEC. I, however, routinely score meets as I watch them and Arkansas has been one of the most overscored teams over the last few years. I do think LSU and Florida are worse with the home scores, but Arkansas is right up there.
I honestly encourage people to choose a few random meets on espn to rewatch and judge yourself. Put your bias aside as you do it. Some of the results may surprise you. (I always viewed Michigan as pretty fairly scored but their home scores can get crazy. I also always thought Georgia was insanity, but a lot of their home meets aren’t nearly as bad as I thought. I also thought Arkansas was pretty middle of the pack, but they are generally pretty high).
No need to be rude. No dreaming here. I am a former NCAA gymnast and judge. Have been watching Arkansas and other teams for years. You obviously do not watch Arkansas much because they never get the benefit of the doubt like some of the more popular teams do. And they don’t get grossly inflated scores at home either. Kentucky didn’t do their best today and were beat fair and square. Might be different Saturday.
No. I watch all of the SEC meets as I have SEC and SEC +.
You are clearly biased toward Arkansas.
Being a former NCAA judge (I doubt it) doesn’t mean anything, as CURRENT NCAA judges aren’t doing there job anyway.
Arkansas not getting a benefit of the doubt is horseshit as evidenced by this season. They absolutely get a home scoring advantage right up there with Florida and LSU. 198.1 was a joke and oh….at home. They are a low 197 away at their best and mid 197 at home.
I watched this regional and NO Kentucky should have beaten Arkansas.
I doubt it will be different Saturday, it is clear that Arkansas is going to Nationals. Such a shame for Kentucky because they will be robbed and shouldn’t have had to go against Arkansas to begin with, but hosting conflicts. Too bad.
You are in a beautiful dream but time to wake up.
Everything Evan is saying is correct, he’s just saying A LOT of things.
Ohio State always has unique beautiful leos! I always love their style choices!
I’m here at the Michigan semifinal. The crowd is small but SO LOUD. Oklahoma looks like they’re holding back some energy. North Carolina are starting to look deflated.
I’m dying because of this!
“After 3
Oklahoma 198.525
Ohio State 147.700
Illinois 147.675
NC State 146.900”
Ohio State has to be one of the most consistent teams this year. They don’t put up the high-197s, but they are almost always right around 197 even. If they can find their landings, they’ll be dangerous. Also, espn said Ohio State has now made the regional finals for three of the last four years. That’s impressive! I can’t wait to see how they progress in the coming years.
Yes and Ohio State was robbed of a seeded placement due to the new ACC over scoring club.
Clemson and NC State were extremely over scored at home and when competing in ACC meets.
Ohio State got their revenge. Also if I am Alabama and Oklahoma I am not resting comfortably in finals. Ohio State could take advantage of errors from either team and pounce. Alabama cannot count a fall and expect to get past a consistent OSU. Oklahoma can absorb a fall but a fall and big mistake could give OSU what they need. I anticipate Ohio State going 197.0-197.1 minimum in finals.
Ohio State making the regional final in Ann Arbor! I love it!
Go Buckeyes! Go Nittany Lions! Suck it, Michigan (minus Brooks and Guggino, I have a soft spot for them)!
I took off work tomorrow so I can watch gymnastics all day. No regrets!
Courtney Blackson of Boise St looks to have qualified to Nationals again! This time on bars!
Brooks and Wilson of Michigan will also qualify! Wilson in the AA and Brooks on VT and FX. Carey also going to Nationals (not much of a surprise there).
Also to join in on the above Arkansas discussion — yes, they do have high home scoring. That being said, Williams, Price, and Jones are a joy to watch. They have a real shot to make Nationals.
I enjoy Arkansas and they have improved drastically. They will make nationals this year over Kentucky but finish 7th or 8th at NCAA.
Next year they will have the ability to get to Final Four IMO.
Very talented squad with a bright future.
Just wish they wouldn’t rely on inflated home scoring and instead focus on their performance quality.
Ark is pretty balanced when you look at away vs home scores (unlike LSU, Clemson, Georgia, UCLA as well this year – all these teams show a very clear disparity of higher home scores). That said the Ark home 198+ was bonkers, yes they had a good meet but the judges were also not judging. That was an exception for them, as their next to highest scores were away meets and the 198 was the drop score in their NQS. I hope that they nip that in the bud and as Sally said focus on performance quality and I’ll add execution.
