The first bit of news out of Alabama/Georgia is that Kara Eaker has made it into Georgia’s beam lineup. Ja’Free Scott is also back on her three events after missing the Florida meet, and they’re anchoring with Nicole King on vault, which might tell us that we’ll be seeing an upgrade.

Elsewhere, Cashion is back into Kentucky’s vault lineup after being absent there for a couple meets. And there’s a new scoring link at the top for Michigan. So, no, Kayli Boozer didn’t get a 10 on vault.

Obviously, the leos for this meet should be required to have Sarah and Suzanne’s faces on them.

Isn’t every night “country night”?

Alicia popped out that baby and threw it on the pile with the rest and is back at the commentary game.

Rotation 1

Scott – vt – georgia – yfull, great one, has the amplitude and the layout, sticks. 9.850

Lacoursiere – ub- alabama – maloney to pak, clean, legs together – small leg break initiating van leeuwen – a little short on final cast hs – ftdt, chest forward and a hop. 9.800

Bacskay – vt – georgia – y1.5, has the distance, lunge forward. 9.800

Hudson – ub – alabama – toe on to maloney to bail, legs on maloney, little angle on bail – ftdt, legs, great stick. 9.850

Smith – vt – georgia – y1.5, gets a solid stick, direction, lands over the line. 9.900 a little big for me there.

Pawlak – ub – alabama – maloney to bail, good feet on bail – bits of legs – tight hs on high – dlo, pikes down, hop forward. 9.825 high for that dismount.

Alicia’s Masshole comes out in describing that leather jacket as classy.

Aquino – vt – georgia – tsuk full, ends up with a pretty big lean forward to try to hold stick. 9.725

gladieux – ub – alabama – high jaeger to overshoot, solid – giant full, ok, to double tuck, stuck. 9.850

Wahl – vt – georgia – can’t control the y1.5 today with a huge lunge forward. 9.700

Fuller – ub – alabama – pretty pak – toe on to van leeuwen, very small leg break – dlo, also has a big lean forward at the hips to hold the stick – bigger deduction than a small step. 9.775

King – vt – georgia – does the 1.5 and hits, high, step forward, some direction as well. 9.875.

Walker – ub – alabama – lovely opening pak as well – maloney to gienger, legs together – ftdt, slide back, good. 9.825

After 1: Alabama, Georgia 49.150

A counting rough landing there stunted the score for Georgia, still OK on 49.150 but could have been higher because the judges are willing to go big for the good ones. Alabama got stuck in the 9.8 zone there on bars with a pretty wide variety of routines all sort of mashed together on the same score.

Rotation 2

German – vt – alabama – short landing on 1.5 with step back to save it. 9.725

Howard – ub – georgia – short first hs – catches a little close on church but connects to overshoot – tight hs on high – giant full to double tuck, thought she was going to stick but a step back. 9.775

Bunagan – vt – alabama – y1.5, solid distance, hop forward, leg separation in the air. 9.825

Mason – ub – georgia – solid piked jaeger to overshoot – hits hs on high – giant full, a bit past,m to double tuck, holds onto the stick

Hudson – vt – alabama – nice stick on y1.5, leans forward a bit to hold it, some direction, 9.850

Snyder ub – georgia – church, also a little close into overshoot – gint full, loses leg position, finishes past with an angle, double tuck, step forward. 9.650

Paradise – vt – y1.5, pretty solid, hop to the side and some knee position. 9.850

Wahl – ub – georgia – maloney to pak is clean – solid 1/2 turn on low – dlo, stuck, good one. 9.875

Gladieux – vt – alabama – y1.5, little hop, knees, similar to paradise but the hop went forward instead of sideward. 9.850

Smith – ub – georgia – toe on to maloney to bail, legs together, slightly short of vertical on a couple positions – nearly stuck her double tuck dismount, but then an arm swing and a step back. 9.775, 9.700/9.850 split.

LaCoursiere – vt – alabama – y1.5, good height but ends up short with a step back and some direction. 9.750

Scott – ub – georgia – high ray but a close catch, connects to a good pak – van leeuwen – dlo, a little low by her standards, step forward. 9.800

After 2: Alabama 98.275, Georgia 98.225

Georgia will be kind of annoyed again because they gave away some landings I don’t really think they needed to. Both teams will want to pick up the scoring pace in the second half. They need some classic loose SEC floor, or they’re going to stay near the bottom of the conference pile.

Suzanne’s in a cowboy hat. I hope it cost 1958 dollars.

Rotation 3

Howard – bb – georgia – bhs loso, secure, knees – switch 1/2, a little open side split angle, hits, small puse before beat – side aerial, hit – gainer full, holds onto stick. 9.825

Walker – fx – alabama – double pike, bounce back – switch side 1/2 to popa, hit – 1.5 to 1/2 to switch jump, solid start. Just 9.775, they’ll have wanted more.

Turner – bb- georgia – bhs loso loso, solid lnding, some feet, did well to maintain her direction in progress – switch and split, nice – 1.5, stuck. Good. 9.900

Lacoursiere – fx – alabama – double tuck, chest up – front lay to rudi, under control – split full to wolf full, around, a bit shy on wolf position – front lay to front full, controls, knees in layout. 9.850

Eaker – bb – georgia – switch mount, hit – full turn, smooth – side aerial to loso is solidly hit – switch to split leap, good positions – this guy LOVES saying Canqueteau – gainer full, a little low and close to the beam, holds onto it. Our girl is so back. 9.925 is a bit of bonus considering that dismount, but a good one.

Sears – fx – alabama – big doubkle pike, bouncy slide – switch 1/2 to high popas, ends up a bit under rotated – front through to double tuck, steppy again. 9.800

Hollingsworth is down hurt for Auburn. Scary short landing on ftdt, nearly landing head first

Scott – bb – georgia – front hs, pause before bhs loso – smooth split to korbut – good switch and split – fhs front full, holds the stick with a small lean. Another good one. 9.900

Adams – fx – alabama – wolf triple is nice – high double pike, bounce back – switch 1/2 to wolf full, good lift – back 1.5 to layout, slide forward. 9.850

Smith – bb – georgia – aerial, lovely, little lean in connecting to back tuck, step forwardto hold onto it – pretty switch to split to beat – solid kickover pike – gainer full, holds stick with a lean. 9.875 too high comparativerly for some clearer errors.

Hudson – fx – alabama – front lay to front 2/1, good amplitude – controls landing on back 2.5. 9.875

Gleichowski – bb – georgia – bhs bhs loso, secure, some foot position – switch, short back leg and check – switch 1/2 to beat – 1.5 dmt, off direction, small step

Gladieux – fx – alabama – open ftdt, a little leg separation, chest up, good control – split leap full to popa, around and well controlled – front lay to rudi to straddle, controlled as well, just a little chest down on rudi. 9.900

After 3: Georgia 147.650, Alabama 147.550

Georgia connects in rotation three. Some forgiving scores but a strong rotation. Really nice run from Turner, Eaker, Scott in the middle there. A tight one brewing here but Alabama has to beam.

Rotation 4

Lacoursiere – bb- alabama – nice candle mount – split to stag ring, some back leg on split – aerial, to bhs is connected – smooth full turn – 1.5 dmt, onto toes and another lean forward to try to hold stick. 9.775

Williams – fx – georgia – double pike, very secure landing, avtuasl real life control – switch side to popa – front lay to front full, solid rise – double tuck, also solid. A good one, the score will tell us a lot. 9.875, fine, not insane.

Bunagan – bb – alabama – rolls past a little on her candle mount – bhs loso, good height, secure, some form in bhs – split and stag ring, nice – good amplitude on gainer full, stick with chest forward. 9.850

Snyder – fx – georgia – rudi to lay to double stag, controlled – gets slightly under position on wolf fulls in combination – double pike, clean landing, bit of chest position. 9.850

Ladanyi – bb – alabama – aerial, arm wave to keep moving into split – full turn, small hesitation in progress – bhs loso, secure – switch to split, no trouble – gainer full, stuck with chest position forward. 9.875

Bacskay – fx – georgia – 2.5 front tuck, under control on step – 2/1, hit – switch side to popa, slightly under on popa – double pike, also under control, just some flexed feet. 9.850

Hudson – bb – alabama – aerial to bhs loso, just keeps it moving, secure landing, snaps arms down quickly – switch to beat, slightest lean – side aerial, wobble, arm wave, chest down – 1.5 dmt, shorter with small slide back. 9.775

Aquino – fx – georgia – front tuck through to double tuck, bounce back, basically the first uncontrolled pass of the rotation – switch 1/2 to a real wolf 1.5 – double pike, chest a little forward but a quick hop to present to cover. 9.850

Adams – bb – alabama – wolf double, good – aerial, wobble, leg up – bhs loso series is pretty, small lean to hold it, tentative – switch to split is good – gainer full, low, holds onto it with lean. 9.750

Wahl – fx – georgia – ftdt, solid control – switch to split full wolf full, a step back to control on landing – fronbt tuck to double tuck, hit with chest down. 9.800

Gladieux – bb- alabama – bhs laypike, large break, keeps it on the beam but a bounce back and a turn to the side and some arm waves – n ice aerial to beat – switch to split, hit – 2/1 stuck.

Smith – fx – georgia – fro t 2/1, good control – back 1.5 to lay, low amplitude but gets it – rudi to high straddle jump. 9.900

FINAL: Georgia 196.975, Alabama 196.575

Big win for Georgia, led by that beam performance. Alabama lost the plot at the end on beam for a mid 196, which is an improvement on the last couple meets but won’t change the hierarchy in the SEC right now.

One judge goes perfect for KJ Johnson’s full, ends up on 9.900.

LSU gets a 49.550 on vault for a very good one—like a legit, real life 49.450.

Arkansas/Oklahoma now.

Rotation 1

Pederson – vt – oklahoma – y1.5, solid, medium step forward. 9.825

Swaney – ub – ark – toe on to malney tompak, some leg seoparations – solid 1/2 turn on low – a bit tight on hb handstand – dlo, step back. 9.700

Torrez – vt – oklahoma – y1.5 with a nice stick, solid direction. 9.950

Smith – ub – arkansas – toe to maloney to bail, short of handstsnd, some leg separations – dlo, good stick. 9.850

Fatta – vt – oklahoma – y1.5 with a bigger bound forward. 9.825

Ewald – ub – arkansas – jaeger, not the highrest but good feet – nice amplitude on pak – hits hs on high – dlo, some piking, hop back. 9.775

Wells – vt – oklahoma – y1.5 solid height, little hop forward. 9.875

Park – ub – arkansas – good hs – ray, gets it – clear hip to pak, smooth – hits hs on 1/2 turn on low – tighter hs on high – dlo, hop back. 9.775

Bowers – vt – oklahoma – y1.5, also a little hop forward, just a bit of knees. 9.900

Jones – ub – ark – good first hs – piked jaeger, a tad close – high pak – solid 1/2 turn on low – dlo, chest well down with hop forward. 9.750

Davis – vt – oklahoma – y1.5, that same little hop forward, the usual leg break on block. 9.850

Waligora – ub – arkansas – hits first hs – high jaeger to overshoot – big arch on hs on high and can’t save it, goes over and falls – and of course finishes with a stuck dlo.

After 1: Oklahoma 49.400, Arkansas 48.850

Solid vaulting from Oklahoma, nothing wrong with it, but didn’t stick enough to get a score. Arkansas dismounted themselves out of a competitive number there on bars even before the Waligora miss.

Rotation 2

Weaver – vt – arkansas – nice high yfull, bounce back. 9.775

Pederson – ub – oklahoma – hits hs – toe to maloney to pak, legs together – hits hs on high – dlo, great stick. 9.925

Smith – vt – arkansas – super high yfull, very small foot adjustment, probably docked for distance. 9.850

Fatta – ub – oklahoma – good hs on high – church, a bit of elbows, into pak – dlo, another solid stick. 9.925

Lang – vt – arkansas – has the distance on that yfull, step back. 9.800

Torrez – ub – oklahoma – ray is nice – toe on to high pak, very small leg break – solid hs on high – dlo, another stick. 9.950

Essenpries – vt – arkansas, y1.5, a little under witha crossover step back. 9.825 is too high compared to the OU 9.825s since this one was short

Slade – ub – oklahoma – tkatchev is low but hit – pak is smooth – dlo, high, a little pime toward the end, sticks. 9.825

Roberson – vt – arkansas – ro 1/2 on lay 1/2, hit, bounce back. 9.750

Davis – ub – oklahoma – higgins to piked jaeger gives Bart some kind of feeling – pak, pretty – higgins to double front 1/2 – holds onto her stick – usual stagger. 9.950

Price – vt – arkansas – high yfull, bounce back. 9.800

Bowers – ub – oklahoma – high piked jaeger – hits hs on high – smooth pak – good vertical on 1/2 turn – hit hs on high – ftdt, little step. 9.925

After 2: Oklahoma 99.075, Arkansas 97.900

Oklahoma running away with this over 198 pace after a huge bars rotation. Speaking of which, LSU is also about to score a 198 after going 49.550 on beam.

Rotation 3

Davis – bb – oklahoma – bhs loso is secure- aerial – beat to spit ring jump, in control – 2/1, step back. 9.825

Gamiao – fx – arkansas – high double pike, shows control – 1.5 through to 2/1, big bounce back and goes oob – double tuck, chest short with small step forward. 9.525

Wells – bb – arkansas – switch side aerial, right on – full turn – switch to switch, hits – bhs loso, good foot positions, smallest teeter on landing – 1.5 dmt, hop. 9.825

Klein – fx – arkansas – front to double tuck, little slide back – switch side 1/4ish to straddle, a little under rotated there – front lay to front full, under control. 9.775

Fatta – bb – oklahoma – bhs loso, wobble, arm wave correction – side aerial, solid – hitch kick to switch side, a little crooked – slightly tentative on that full turn – switch to split is good – gainer full, holds landing, chest a little forward. 9.775

Jones – fx – arkansas – front 2/1, good control, just a bit of knees – switch ring to switch 1/2, a little low – 1.5 to layout, comfortable – rudi, hit. 9.850

Bowers – bb – oklahoma – good korbut – full turn, smooth – bhs loso, secure – split lesp to switch 1/2, nice – 2/1, good stick, some leg crossing. 9.950

Smith – fx – arkansas – front loso through to double tuck, shorter landing with hop forward – solid rise on popa in combination – double pike, again chest forward with a hop. 9.750

Pederson – bb – oklahoma – smooth full turn – bhs loso, secure, good feet – hitch kick to switch side, a little teeter – side somi – 2/1, nearly stuck, leaning back, endsd up stepping. 9.750 pretty tight

We’vr erased Kennedy’s Rhonda years I see.

Roberson – fx – arkansas – DLO, huge height, just controls that step – front loso to double tuck, sticks with chest down. 9.750

Torrez – bb – oklahoma – good wolf jump – side aerial to loso, wobble with turn to the side and arm wave – switch to great straddle jump – bhs to lovely gainer full stick. 9./925, now that’s a little high for me for that wobble.

Price – fx – arkansas – DLO, good control – huge popas – front full, didn’t get the punch at all out of it but somehow still hit a not bad layout in combination. 9.875

After 3: Oklahoma 148.375, Arkansas 146.900

Oklahoma goes 49.300 on beam. Not a historic Oklahoma beam rotation by any means but also a couple real, discerning scores in there. Just a bit of a letdown meet overall for Arkansas after the high of last week. Will have to survive beam now. 198 may be out of the picture for Oklahoma now unless floor gets wild.

Helen Hu goes 9.975 on beam to get Missouri to a very strong 197.175.

LSU gets to 198 exactly.

Rotation 4

Gamiao -bb – arkansas – loso loso combo is secure – side somi, holds it – switvch to split, under split – 1.5 dmt, hop. 9.750

Davis – fx – oklahoma – front 2/1, a bit lower than usual, slight under rotated – switch 1/2 and wolf full, around, good – 1.5 to front full, comfortable dance out. 9.875

Jones – bb – arkansas – aerial, leans into connection bhs bhs, lean correction on finish – split jump to stag ring, tight, both under position – front full, good stick. 9.700

Fatta – fx – oklahoma – front 2/1, connects to stag, bit of knees – front tuck through to 2.5, not under control on step but stays in bounds – switch, switch side and popa – 9.800

Park – bb – arkansas – candle mount, hit, good hs – full turn – bhs loso, small check, nice foot position – switch switch – good height on 1.5 dismount but a step forward. 9.800

I swear Bart said Duke has a basketball boy named Poopoo Flagg.

Mueller – fx – oklahoma – front tuck through to double tuck, controls her step – front lay to rudi, smooth, chest up – switch full to popa, solid – 9.850

Swaney – bb – arkansas – full turn, small check – bhs bhs loso, secure and nice form – arm wave correction on split ring – gainer full, stuck – 9.775

Pederson – fx – oklahoma – 1.5 to 2.5, little slide dance out cover – front 2/1, just a hair under into her controlled step – good straddle elements. 9.875

Weaver – bb – arkansas – bhs loso, right on – side aerial, stays with it to hold it under co ntrol – good straddle, a little loer on her stag ring but secure 1.5 dmt, stuck, some direction. 9.825

Bowers – fx – oklahoma – front 2/1 to high frot tuck, good control – double pike, shows control – good switch 1/2 and wolf full combo. 9.950

Roberson – bb – arkansas – beat to a good high pike jump – switch to back tuck, secure – full turn, smooth – side aerial loso, right on, just some feet – front full dmt, stuck. Very good. 9.925

Torrez – fx – oklahoma – dlo, high, under control – split leap full to wolf full, good completion – front tuck though to double tuck, perfect – leg up full, yes – excellent. 9.900

Final: Oklahoma 197.825, Arkansas 195.975

A drop score for Arkansas here. A good result for Oklahoma, still not a 198, just a few too many small raggedies here and there early on floor and beam, not many stuck vaults, and not totally cuckoo scoring, but no problems.

  1. Felt like Alabama had at least three distinct levels of bar execution…and they all scored less than a tenth apart?

      1. Weird landing out of a tumbling pass where she landed on her head and feet, but snapped both ankles first (not literally). Wonder if she hurt an Achilles. Almost looked like the sting mat tripped up her landing. Not sure. Scary though.
