First things first, Oklahoma came out to the warmups in shirts that say “Better is still a deduction.” They’re on one this week.

So anyway, I think LSU and Florida are the favorites to win.

Webster-Longin is here and did a little. She did not warm up the leg events but did a bit on bars without a dismount—though isn’t in the lineup.

Poppy Stickler has the “hopping with a boot on” game down. Definitely showing stronger agility than some of the two legs gymnasts.

Intros done, we’re out for the touch. All of the head coaches are in pants and no one came out in a prom dress. Sigh. Shannon, I’m disappointed in you most of all.

Rotation 1

Griffin – VT – Missouri – medium hop back on yfull. 9.775

Smith UB – Utah – good pak, van leeuwenm legs together, solid hs on high – toe pike 1/2, holds landing, comes in chest down. 9.8875

Davis – BB – OU – solid bhs loso series – aerial, hit – secure split ring jump – 2/1, leg crossing, stuck landing

Rosen hits double tuck, chest forward. 1.5 to layout is smooth. 9.8875

Tanskanen – VT – Missouri – good height tsuk full, medium step back

Glynn – UB – Utah – maloney to bail, some piking – small back position in hs on high but vertical – really struggles on double tuck dismount, deep, large lunge forward, near knee down

Campbell – FX – UCLA – ftdt, good chest up landing – split leap to popa is around well – front lay to front full, little rebound – double tuck, some chest position, secure, good one.

Moore step forward on y1.5.

Wells – BB – OU – switch side aerial, hit, little adjustment – switch to split hit – bhs loso with check – 1.5 dismount, hop

Moors – FX – UCLA – front 2/1 to front tuck, some direction today in front tuck but secure – loso, good – switch to switch 1/2 to wolf full, good completion – rudi, holds onto the landing, a little forward

Torrez sticks gainer full to finish out OU’s beam.

McCallum tiny rebound on dismount.

Chiles – FX – UCLA – DLO, good secure landing – split leap full and wolf full are around – front tuck through to double tuck, better chest position on landing today.

9.975 for Chiles to bring UCLA level to Oklahoma.

After 1: Oklahoma 49.6125, UCLA 49.6125, Utah 49.450, Missouri 49.200

Oklahoma and UCLA getting a little distance after the first event. It was essential for UCLA to get a big number on floor since it’s their one, but can they keep it up with Oklahoma over four events?

Rotation 2

Lee – VT – UCLA – shuffle back on yfull. 9.825

Morgan – BB – Utah – bhs bhs loso, large break, bend at the hips turn to the side, chest past horizontal

Burns with a small hop back on bars dismount

Davis – FX – OU front 2/1, under twist with a bit of crossover – switch 1/2 and wolf full are nice – back 1.5 to front full dance out

Jenkins step forward on y1.5 with some knees

Good pak from Horton on bars, hits hs on high 0 DLO, comes in deep with bound forward

Smith small check on loso series on beam – split jump to straddle 1/4 – gainer pike, good stick

Sievers – FX – OU – double pike, slide back, overcooked it a little – front tuck through to double tuck, hit switch side 1/2 to popa, good straddles 9.9125 a lot for first pass

Moors tries to control the rebound on her hs pike 1/2 and does a little more today but a bounce back

McCallum – BB – Utah – hits candle mount – wolf double, hit – bhs loso wayyyyy off line from the start and falls –

Mueller – FX – OU – front tuc through to double tuck, little leg separation and chest position – good split full to popa –

McGowan hits her y1.5, a little under and a step to the side and two judges went 9.900.

Kelly – UB – Missouri – toe on stalder double tuck, leans chest wayy forward to hold stick

Neff has very nice distance from the beam on her gainer full, good stick.

Fatta – FX – OU – front 2/1 to stag hit, a little low and travels forward on stag – front through to 2.5, slide back

Campbell good stick on yfull, a little waver to hold it

Nice van leeuwen from Celestine on bars, sticks dismount.

Padurariu smooth aerial combo on beam, adjustment lean working out of it – split to sheep jump step forward – sticks dismount

Nice front 2/1 to front tuck from Bowers – double pike pretty big bounce back

Chiles – VT – UCLA – 1/2 on tuck 1/2 with hop back and the tucking on the table

Gantner – BB – Utah – replacing Winger in the lineup today – hits loso series, good one – 1.5 dmt, holds stick with lean forward

Titarsolej hops forward on dismount today.

Torrez – FX – OU – DLO, bit of a rebound, good chest position – split leap full to wolf full good completion – front tuck through to double tuck, controls landing – leg up hop full very nice. 9.9625

After 2: Oklahoma 99.200, UCLA 98.900, Utah 98.6375, Missouri 98.375

Oklahoma pulls out to a three tenth advantage. Now the vault test. If they can stick a few, it’s hard to see the others catching up, but sticking vaults has been a question this season.

Rotation 3

Pederson step forward 1.5

Campbell – UB – UCLA – a bit short on first hs – maloney to bail is hit – blind to double front, cowboy, good stick

Glynn – FX – Utah – front 21 dance out, some leg crossing – back 1.5 to lay

Solid stuck gainer full from Wier on beam

Torrez – VT – OU – y1.5, one of her good landing days, holds the stick

McGowan hits tkatchev to overshoot, solid – DLO, little movement

Zirbes – FX – Utah – front 2/1, nearly had the secure landing, took a crossover step though didn’t really look underrotated – back 1.5 to front full, controls the back foot –

Wells – VT – OU – y1.5, solid, little hop forward

Rosen holds stick on DLO with lean forward

Neff – FX – Utah – front 2/1 to front tuck, good control – switch side, overturns a bit into popa – front lay to front full

Solid front tuck from Celestine on beam.

Pretty maloney to pak from malabuyo, FTDT, stuck, that’s the kind of routine they needed to try to stay in this.

Fatta VT, little hop forward on y1.5

Gilstrap – FX – Utah – rudi is off line with a stagger step adjustment – switch 1/2ish 1/1ish to a pretty sissone – front lay with good lift today into the front full

Esparza – UB – UCLA – maloney to bharwaj, hit, a bit close on catch – van leeuwen, good leg position – DLO is real struggle, deep, big lunge

Big step forward on y1.5 from Mueller.

Smith – FX – Utah – front 2/1 to front tuck, holds the stuck landing well – rudi to loso, pulls it out securely though the loso was good. An exercise in selling your landings

Chiles short first cast hs – hits piked tkatchev to pak – solid finish on 1/1 trun on low – hits hs on high – does the DLO, good stick. Two judges still went 10.

Bowers – VT – OU – way overdoes her y1.5 with a big lunge forward. No one has been taking it from them, but those last two vault landings could have mattered. Now they’ll still have to put up a normal hit on bars.

McCallum secure landing on ftdt, front tuck through to double tuck, step back OOB. She’s having a rough one.

Beam is a routine behind just so that Helen Hu is going alone.

Hu – BB – Missouri – y spin hit – aerial to aerial, smoothly hit – split and split 3/4, nice – gainer pike, stuck

After 3: Oklahoma 148.6375, UCLA 148.300, Utah 148.1125, Missouri 197.725

UCLA still keeping it close enough that some 2018 beam rotation finish could make things interesting, but definitely in the hands of Oklahoma’s bars sticks.

Rotation 4

Sievers – UB – OU – good hs on low – toe on to maloney to pak, legs together – a bit rushed 1/2 turn on low – FTDT, stuck. 9.875

Lee – BB – UCLA – aerial to split, good – bhs loso, holds it, little foot adjustment – hits straddle jump – full turn – gainer full, stuck

Light finishes FX with large bounce back on double pike and additional bounce

McCallum short landing on y1.5 with step back

Pederson – UB – OU – toe on to maoney to pak, small leg break on maloney, nice pak, little hesitation on 1/2 turn on low – DLO, step back

Rosen – BB – UCLA – switch to split, good – beat to onodi, large break, leg up wobble and lean – secure loso series – 1.5, holds stick but a big lean forward. We have a 9.6 to 9.850 range. What are we watching.

Neff very good stick on y1.5, clean layout position. 9.975

Fatta hits Church a little close – clean pak – good hs on high – DLO, slide back. OU giving away bits on bars.

Chiles – BB – UCLA – loso series, strong – little lean side aerial – 2/1, stuck landing

Glynn very short on y1.5, nearly sits down, lunge back.

Torrez UB – OU – ray good, tighter cast hs on high – good pak – some angle of completion and body position in 1/2 turn – DLO, slide back. 9.850

Campbell a big wobble on her series – another leg up wobble on switch 1/2 – gainer full, stuck

Smith – VT – Utah – medium hop forward on omelianchik

9.6875 for Campbell (we had 9.8s from some judges again!?!)

Davis – UB OU – hits piked jaeger and pak – can’t hold the stick, chest forward and a hop. OU tight in this bars rotation but UCLA having big mistakes on beam. 9.925, so they were really ready for a 10 today if she had stuck.

Alipio chest well down on gainer tuck full and step forward. Clinched now for Oklahoma.

Griffin – FX – really nice height on double pike – double tuck, secure landing, very clean. 9.950

Scary missed block from Johnson on vault for Utah but thankfully lands flat on her back.

Malabuyo check n her split ring, otherwise strong. Bowers finishes out Oklahoma’s day with a step forward on her FTDT, some elbows on piked jaeger.

Moore – FX – Missouri – DLO, under control – tuck jump full to knee – switch 1/2 to popa, nice height and completion – front tuck through to double tuck, slide back.

FINAL: Oklahoma 198.0125, UCLA 197.6125, Utah 197.2375, Missouri 197.2125

Oklahoma the national champions. They had about 5/8 of an amazing meet and then finished out with 3/8 of tightttt gymnastics where they didn’t stick a bars landing. But you feel like the only two teams that could have capitalized on Oklahoma’s end of the meet were LSU and Florida and they weren’t here.

If you had given UCLA the choice of a second place finish this year, or after Meet the Bruins, or that 195 first meet, they would have leapt at it. Utah with another third place finish, 5th time in a row, but honestly solid for this season. Missouri started off today but pulled it back to stay competitive, and of course 4th is a huge deal for them.

INQUIRY! A Missouri inquiry has put them into third ahead of Utah. Utah had enough mistakes today that I feel like the new result is a just one. Amy Wier was given her 10.0 start to go up to 9.850.
