The early news out of Jenny Rowland Hates Your Fantasy Team Inc is that Florida has no one in the AA today. DiCello and Harris-Miranda are in on everything except floor, and Blakely and Frazier are in on everything except vault. Pilgrim is in on bars and floor. Jayla Booker on floor and Amelia Disidore on vault are the only first years in counting lineups.

For the matter at hand, Alabama has Gladieux and newbie Cawley in the AA and other newbie Ra-Akbar in for three lineups (and ex. on beam). Late lineup change with no Paityn Walker on bars—she was listed earlier today. No Rybicki for Alabama. Clemson is going with the same people as last weekend.

Rotation 1

Minner – VT – Clemson – y1.5 tucked, step forward this week. 9.825

Bui led off vault for FL with a small slide back on Y1.5 and went 9.925. Pilgrim replaced G Disidore in the lineup and went 9.875.

Cawley – UB – Alabama – blind to jaeger, solid foot position, hits hs – pak, small leg break, a little rushed on 1/2 turn on low – hits cast hs on hgih – FTDT, hop back. Good.

Clark – VT – Clemson Tsuk 1/1, small slide back, shows a pike throughout. 9.775

Gladieux – UB – Alabama – blind to high jaeger, feet, into overshoot, comfortable – a little tight on cast hs – giant full to a stuck double tuck.

Holman – VT – Clemson – handspring pike 1/2, lunge back, leg separation at the end. 9.750

Fuller – UB – Alabama – pak, legs are solid, good height – toe on to van leeuwen, smooth – short cast hs in here – DLO, legs apart and a hop back

Jackson – VT – Clemson – better Y1.5 this week, slightly short with a small hop back – some shoulder angle on the block. 9.825

G Disidore debuts on vault for FL, Y1.5, medium hop and some knees.

Pawlak – UB – Alabama – small arch in first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, nice foot and knee position in the bail – very short cast hs on high – DLO, legs apart, step back

Walsh – VT – Clemson – small hop forward on y1.5, small amount of knees, legs on block. 9.850

LaCoursiere – UB – Alabama – good first hs – maloney to pak, clean well done – van leeuwen, small leg break initiating but fine – hits cast – FTDT, some direction and a hop, very nice on the bars.

Arnold – VT – Clemson – does a y1/2, large lunge forward, solid position in the air.

DiCello returns on vault for Florida, larger bounce forward on Y1.5 for 9.825. Lunge forward from Ferris.

Ra-Akbar – UB – Alabama – toe on to pak, solid height – smooth hs on low – van leeuwen, leg separation to start – stalder to double tuck, absorbs the landing

Ladanyi in bars exhibition for Alabama, pretty large lunge forward on dismount.

And we already have a 9.975 for Ra-Akbar to start her career. It was a lovely routine, but I didn’t think it was thatttttt. With this 9.975 and the way Florida’s vault is going, we may not have to wait for the Sprouts Open Bar tomorrow for the season’s first 10.

Case in point, Harris-Miranda lands shortish on her Y1.5 with a slide back and still goes 9.900. Back in my day, under-rotation and hops back were both deductions.

After 1
Alabama 49.425
Clemson 49.025

Rotation 2

Cawley – VT – Alabama – solid stick on her y1.5, good distance, just a bit of knees and legs and not the highest we’ll see, but very nice. 9.900

Berry – UB – Clemson – rushes first hs a little – toe on to maloney to pak, small leg separations – a little late on 1/2 turn on low – DLO, holds the stick with some pike at the end. Good. 9.775

Sears – VT – Alabama – the Y1.5 makes an appearance but overcooks it into North Carolina, big big 0.2-sized lunge forward, so 9.775 is forgiving.

Lippeatt – UB – Clemson – hits hs on high – Ray to overshoot, flexed feet on Ray but good amplitude – giant full, past, into double tuck, stuck. 9.875

Kvamme – VT – Alabama – y1.5, another larger lunge forward, not as big as Sears – some knees – 9.800

H Clark – UB – Clemson – rushes first hs – blund to piked jaeger to overshoot, hit well, small foot separation in overshoot – hits hs on high – DLO, hop back. 9.850

Paradise – VT – Alabama – lands short on her Y1.5 with a step back – good pop and solid leg form. 9.775

Jackson – UB – Clemson – big arch on high bar but pulls it back – high jaeger but wild legs on the catch, which affected the form into the bail – solid stick on full out. 9.750

Gladieux – VT – Alabama – Y1.5 is hit, small hop forward, leg separation on the repulsion. 9.850

Cesario – UB – Clemson – blind to jaeger to overshoot, smooth and solid – hits vertical hs on high, shifts hand into giant giant DLO, hop. 9.850

Goes at the same time as emjae Frazier, both at different teams now, and both hopping on DLO dismount for 9.850.

Ra-Akbar – VT – Alabama – Y1.5, good form and distance, hop forward but very high potential vault. 9.875

Kuhl – UB – Clemson – slight back position on first hs – hits Ray into overshoot – short hs on high – DLO, hop back. 9.850

Noella Marshall hits a viable handspring pike 1/2 in exhibition for Alabama but larger lunge back. Arnold sticks DLO for Clemson in exhibition on bars.

Both teams go 49.200 in rotation 2.

After 2:
Alabama 98.625
Clemson 98.225

McCusker on bars for Florida in the three spot, a little lean in the landing on the double tuck out of the stalder but holds on. Some body position in cast handstands, should be solid score. DiCello very strong on Church to pak and van leeuwen on bars – arch on handstand on high before dismount.

Rotation 3

Walsh – BB – Clemson – full turn – bhs loso series, holds onto it, some feet form – kickover to beat is secure – split to stag ring, good feet, I’d like to see a little higher in the split position – sticks dismount well with some knees. 9.850

Matters – FX – Alabama – front tuck to double tuck, under control on step, some feet – switch side 1/2 to popa, gets lots of value there – double pike, chest down more with step forward – straddle jump. 9.775

“Showing off her personality” count hit three in the first floor routine.

One tenth step back from Skye Blakely on bars dismount, otherwise pristine. 9.875. Harris hops back on dismount and gets 9.950 so they were hungrrrryyy for 10sssssssss.

B Clark – BB – Clemson – front tuck, moves through a wobble into beat jump – fall on loso series

LaCoursiere – FX – Alabama – double tuck, little bounce movement – switch ring to tour jete 1/2 – front lay with leg form and separation, into rudi to double stag – 9.900

H Clark – BB – Clemson – kickover pike to bhs is a comfortable series – full turn hesitation check – switch leap to a very short split jump to beat – Liukin is nice and smooth – 1.5 dismount, some leg separation and a hop. 9.700

Sears – FX – Alabama – DLO, a little too much but finesses the control to stay in bounds, adjustment – switch side to popa, good oversplit on the straddle positions – front tuck, good height, to double tuck, a little forward and a step but chest mostly up

Lippeatt – BB – Clemson – aerial and a lean wobble, will have to redo it – does it again and leannnnssss through it to korbut – hitch kick to side aerial and leannnnns through it again to switch and split – white-knuckling it to try to get connections somehow in here. 1.5 dismount with arm circle and step back. 9.725 and gets the 10.0 start.

I feel like that routine and score is the ideal thing to show college gymnasts who try to be too perfect and bail when it’s not — just lean through it and do whatever and it will be fine because everything is the same and scored the same.

Ra-Akbar – FX – Alabama – front tuck through to 2.5, good twisting form, crossover slide step on landing – switch ring and switch 1/2 very comfortable – back 1.5 to layout, solid height, slide forward – wolf double, around – 9.850

Cesario – BB – Clemson – bhs loso, good height and secure landing – switch 1/2, a little under split, into split jump – 1.5 dismount, nice stick. 9.900

Cawley – FX – Alabama – FTDT shows control – switch 1/2 to wolf full wolf full is around – back 1.5 to lay, leg form in 1.5 and a little flatter in the layout. 9.875

Kuhl – BB – Clemson – bhs bhs loso is hit – sissone, shorter on the back leg – beat to ring jump – 1.5 dismount, good stick, nice one.

Gladieux – FX – Alabama – great height on FTDT, kind of couldn’t decide whether she was going to stick or take a controlled step – tour jete 1/2 to popa, shows the positions, around well – front lay to rudi, forward with a split jump that travels forward. 9.900

Alabama 49.425 floor, Clemson 49.075 on beam.

After 3
Alabama 148.050
Clemson 147.300

Clemson’s last two beamers pull back the score after a very nervy middle of the rotation to get over 49. Ra-Akbar emerging as the star of this meet for Alabama and everyone. The twisting form is very good, so when everything is on, her routines are going to be without much built in.

Kwamme in exhibition for Alabama on floor with a very funny stag jump connection attempt out of her rudi.

Skye Blakely in Florida’s beam lineup does wolf triple into immediate wolf double, which is a crime against her potential skill selection, she could do so much more fun stuff – aerial to bhs series comfortable – switch 1/2 with a wobble – switch to split leap is good – gainer full holds stick.

Rotation 4

Fuller – BB – Alabama – aerial keeps arms going into split jump, maybe a rhythm deduction – full turn wobble – bhs loso is secure – switch to split – 1.5 dismount, hop forward

Holman – FX – Clemson – front 2/1, lands under with a step back – switch side to wolf full, a little shy on wolf position – double turn – rudi to loso is secure. 9.825

Meanwhile, McCusker nearly falls on front aerial on beam for Florida, keeps it on. She’s going up 6th after a 9.975 for Harris and DiCello almost having a heart attack after her aerial with a step and an arm wave and a lean and still getting a 9.950 from one judge, so McCusker might only score 9.900….

Cawley – BB – Alabama – wolf double is hit – bhs loso secure with some foot form – side aerial, holds on with small squeeze lean – cat leap to switch side, a little tight – good height on gainer full, stuck. 9.900

Lippeatt – FX – Clemson – round off double tuck, bounce back – switch side 1/2 to straddle 1/2 ish – I love the sissone directly into the 1.5 to front full because, gasp, that’s a thing you can do. 9.825

Ladanyi – BB – Alabama – aerial to split, secure, some feet in the aerial – full turn, comfortable – bhs loso is solid – switch and split, good foot positions in the split jump – gainer full, some feet, holds onto the stick by holding her breath, which helps. 9.925

Minner – FX – Clemson – front 2/1, overcooks some with slide forward – switch 1/2 to popa to shushunova – rudi to loso, gets a little low but pulls it around, more comfortable on the choreo handstand this week. 9.800

Kvamme – BB – Alabama – full turn – aerial to bhs loso, solid – switch to split, good, little foot placement adjustment – kickover front, solid – struggles on the front gainer full dismount, short with lunge back. And still goes 9.850

Jackson – FX – Clemson – full out is under control with the step back – switch 1/2 to wolf full wolf full is around – front lay to front full is landed this time, but leg separation and knee form on both.

The commentator tells us that one judge went 10 for Jackson’s floor. I’m sorry what now? Anyway, it’s 9.800 on the scores with a 9.850/9.750 split.

LaCoursiere – BB – Alabama – candle mount and rolls out of the vertical position verrrry quickly – split jump to stag ring, good height, little adjustment – aerial to bhs, smooth, pretty – full turn with a wobble – 1.5 dismount, lean forward to hold on. And 9.925 is also a lot.

It’s January 9th and the national scoring situation is already hitting aneurysm. Just lean back and live the nonsense.

Walsh – FX – Clemson – front full to front full is well controlled – loso – switch to switch ring 1/2 is solid, I’ll allow a switch ring 1/2 for her, it’s not tragic – rudi, just a little under, controls the step. Good one. 9.875

Gladieux – BB – Alabama – bhs lay-pike, check step back – full turn, hit – aerial to beat, holds onto it – some foot form moments – switch to split – 2/1, good stick, leg separation in the air.

B Clark – FX – Clemson – DLO, nearly holds the front foot under control, great height – front lay to front full front tuck, good positions, overcooks slightly with a slide – tour jete 1/2 to excellent popa. 9.925

Ra-Akbar doing exhibition on beam, aerial to bhs series comfortable – small check on split ring jump – sticks 1.5 dismount. Yeah, ready for the lineup.

FINAL:
Alabama 197.475
Clemson 196.550

Definitely a loosely scored meet but you know what else is new. Some improvements in the overall form-scape for Alabama that can serve them well this year. There’s not a ton of chucking out ragged skills or getting away with short splits and hoping no one notices. Ra-Akbar is a win, Cawley is solid.

Clemson gets to the 196.500 mark, so an improvement over the first week, especially on the first two pieces. That’s their 5th-best team score ever. Beam had some shaky times in the middle and the early part of the floor lineup isn’t super powerful so it’s easy to get stuck in the 9.800-zone, but still more comfortable than last week.

In other news Auburn got 9.975 on vault from Zancan.

Skye Blakely finishes up the floor rotation for Florida with a good double front but launched into a red-eye flight stag jump into the corner. Back 1.5 into a pretty low 1/2 but got it to her feet. One judge goes 9.950 for a 9.800/9.950 split.

AND ON THAT NOTE, see you tomorrow.
