About
The single Y turn is rather uncommon on floor for the same reason and the double turn or single L turn: it’s just not worth enough to bother doing or risk the deductions unless it’s being performed in combination out of a more difficult turn. That is the most common circumstance in which we see the single Y on floor, though it does occasionally pop up as either a seriously under-rotated mistake or a placeholder for an intended double Y as well
